Autumn Leaves by Ree Peace

Hi all!!!
How amazing is Autumn? And how clever is Colour Blast? Combine the two and you get a Blast of Autumn on your page!

I gathered the Colour Sprays and Shimmer Sprays for this project.
Colour Sprays: Saffron, Rainforest and Coffee
Colour Shimmer Sprays: Leather, Fire Engine, Tangereen Dream

First I drew some fineliner leaf outlines

And misted them lightly with water before colouring them with layers of the above colours...

When I felt they matched those in my chosen pic I dried the cardstock off with my heat gun.

Next I Created highlights with Bling Colour Paste because who can go by some Blingy bits?!?!?!

This dried wonderfully, so much shimmery shine!

Here is the completed background...

And this is how I used it =)
These guys just love to give me the best shots!

Enjoy what is left of the beautiful colours before the bleak greys arrive!

Signing off for now, Ree =)

Cleo by Ree Peace

I started this LO a little differently to most of my others; this was all about trying out two new products and seeing where the background took me.

Starting with white cardstock I dragged a dry sponge laden with Black Heavy Gesso and smeared it from left to right, right to left, and left to right again.

Once dry, I pushed Bling  Colour Paste through a Damask Stencil, this looked so elegant and didn't feel I needed to go any further with the background...keeping it super simple!

Next, it was all about finding the perfect photo and embellies....
meet 'CLEO'

Mixed media as a scrapbook page is really all about necessity, it doesn't need to be full of layers and messy busy...strip it back and it is about simply gaining a personalised background.

Hope you enjoyed seeing two fabulous products coming together in a simple way!

Let me know what you think =)

@37, really? by Ree Peace

Hi Everyone, I love a good gathering of goods, getting as many pieces together from the beginning is really helpful in getting to a final product in good time.

This was an ultra fun LO where I have dusted and misted until my heart was content.

Prepping some regular cardstock with White Heavy Gesso with an old store card is a great start.

Then I got to do the 'dusting' using three green and blue tones of Colour Shimmer Dust, Duke, Peacock and Navy. I used a dry paintbrush that I dipped into the pot, tapped of the excess and then tapped across my DRY gesso'd page. I did this with all three colours, randomly.

Next, I misted the dustings =)
Activating the Colour Shimmer Dusts.

ACTIVATION!!!! So pretty!!

I then dabbed away the excess moisture.

And after drying off, I admired my background!

Adding a cut file, thickers, stamping, card layers and enamel dots...

my page came together very quickly...

the texture and shine of the Colour Blast products are sooo yummy!

And there I have...another page to enter into my life's fairytale x

Thanks for stopping by!!

take care Ree x

Technique: Marbling with Shimmer Dusts by Ree Peace

Hi all, this share is more about demonstrating the technique of marbling with Colour Shimmer Dust and shaving cream than about the end product (as that never actually eventuated as planned).
This project includes Peacock, Duke, Navy, Lollipop and Velvet Colour Shimmer Dusts.

You will see that I have Colour Shimmer Sprays prepped to use for this technique however for me they couldn't create the depth I was after in my colours without using too much product.

So the first thing to do is dilute your Colour Shimmer Dusts to the shade you are wanting to achieve, I used just a small pinch in a few sprays of water. This combo below is Navy and Peacock.

Now prep some shaving cream on a tray, not too much, and go crazy splattering your colour combination across the cream before streaking it with something similar to a paintbrush tip.

Now it's is just a matter of transferring the colour to paper...by dragging the paper through the cream.

Scrape the excess cream away, and you now have marbled paper in the colours you want.

I had some letters cut from plain white card that I dragged through the pretty shaving cream but I think it would funky to try this on black as well as those shimmers are stunning and it would be cool to get them on other shades or colours.

Here is  another colour combo...
Velvet and Lollipop

The last 'like' in the phrase has the combo of Duke and Navy.

You will have a blast with this! I would advise that you have an old rag on stand by to wipe of excess shaving cream as it dissolves into  the cloth quickly and can be used immediately with the next shape or letter or card piece.

Thanks for stopping by!

Blooper fun by Ree Peace

Well there is one funny story that comes from this creation...but all I will say now, to save this being too lengthy is; DOUBLE CHECK everything when using a school's motto for your title, yep I got it wrong!

But it does not make me love this page any less!

This page had me playing with Colour Shimmer Sprays, Colour Embossing Powder, Colour Mica Powder and Colour Shimmer Dust in a mix up of different shades of blue with a touch of Steel.

I started with colour blocking on the white card to use behind the cut file (yes I got a Silhouette Cameo!!).
When preparing to use a selection of Colour Shimmer Dusts, including Peacock, Duke and Navy I pre-wet the white card but also I prepped the powders in a paint palette just to have some control over where I painted them and their blending.

Then I altered my chipboard pieces by embossing two of them using Steel Colour Embossing Powder and painting one with the prepped Colour Shimmer Dust left overs. Then I had a botched attempt at embossing using Polar  Colour Mica Powder...yes you are wondering 'what was she thinking? and you are right to do so...I wasn't thinking, until I near caught my chipboard on fire while waiting for the change and it wasn't happening!

Below the two cogs show the effect I gained from combining VersaMark embossing pad with Colour Mica Powder...I like it!!

This is the Colour Shimmer Dust painted one ^^^

Before I went on creating my layers to go with my photo I splatted the background with Colour Shimmer Spray in Deep Water. These sprays on the black background are fabulous but....

Check out the effect of splattering with left over Shimmer Dust and drying it with a heat gun!!!

It bubbles in the most amazing way!

Then it was time to build up the page and get the finishing touches on...

By the way, if you just have to know what the motto should read, leave me an enquiry below and I will get back to you!

Thanks for checking in, I hope you are inspired to try at least one of these products to gain similar effects.

Take care, Ree x

Hello You by Ree Peace

Happy New Year everyone from Tassie!!

What a great start I have made to this year, playing with paper and colour everyday and making plenty of mess too!

This LO is so soft and subtle, I hope you get the same feel for it through the lens and on screen as others have in person, however I did manage to cover most of the mixed media up somehow!

This is my precious Niece back at Easter time and she had just woken from siesta so happy and content with a fresh surprised look...I fell a little harder for her at that moment!

After having a clean up and sort out I found it extremely easy to grab colour co-ordinating pieces up ready to create with. This is one of my favourite things to do before creating as it reminds me of what I have while also giving me choice at the table in the here and now.

This is my first time playing with this range of 7 Dot Studio and it is so yummy...be prepared to see how easy it is to match colours from different Colour Blast ranges!

First prepping the page with Heavy Gesso in White , this stuff is fabulous! So smooth to work with, with great coverage...using a sponge in a 'cross hatching' style created a cool texture and subtle layers.
Again with Gesso and a titch of Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust (a titch is all that is needed) I developed the perfect 'green/blue' to match the chevron of the printed paper.

Again I used a sponge to apply the coloured Gesso through a stencil.

Using the Colour Shimmer Spray a little differently, I poured Tangereen Dream into a dish and 'stamped' circles onto the dry Gesso, building the layers.

And with the photo added backed with white tissue, gauze, and washi with a balance of chipboard words, word stickers (from the 7 Dots range) and some flowers you have a very subtle and soft mixed media LO fit for a teeny tiny baby =)

Thanks for stopping by! Looking forward to being inspired, and inspiring, for this fresh year that is 2017!

Stay safe,
Ree x
