I have a little taster for you to start 😀

I'm still playing with my Colour Artist Inks while I'm stalking the Courier for my watercolours 😉

It was time to break out the Border punches - blast from the past...

I brushed some Colour Artist Ink in Marine straight on to Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock, I didn't bother with Gesso (that's why it looks a little mottled) because I knew I was going to be cutting it all up. I used one punch across the full width, with a total of 3 different punches. 

Once I had plenty of border strips, I played with them until I had them the way I wanted, with different tones and punches repeating, then I stuck them together into one big strip. I had already cut circles into another piece of cardstock and they were to back the cut file.

I wanted to put some more colour on the background, so I did this before I backed it, using Colour Artist Inks in Oasis and Mermaid, and the packaging technique. I outlined the circles with Masking Fluid before I started. It needs to be totally dry before inking, and the ink needs to be dry before removing the masking.

I also did a few layers of stamping on the background before I backed the circles.

I coloured some muslin with Marine Colour Artist Ink and set it to dry, then started assembling other layers and embellies. Once it was dry, I placed it under my photo.

Last things to add - the photo cluster and then finally a little journaling 😁

These definitely seem to be my go to colours!

Look at these two how gorgeous are they 

Mum took them to one of those pop-up shops where they take the pictures in the shopping centres and had a whole heap of photos done and when I saw them I asked if I could do a canvas of one of the photos she said for sure not knowing what I was going to do

It was so hard to pick as there were so many of them together and apart but this was the most fun out of all of them

And lucky for me their mum loved it

 I used the Colour Blast White Heavy Gesso on all the embellishments and the canvas to prime everything so that whatever medium I was going to use on them would adhere with no problem  

I used the Colour Blast Boho Mandala  Stencil from the Follow Your Dreams range with some clear impasto
I'd have to say this is my new favourite stencil it's so pretty

 

With the background, it took a while to work out what colour to go with I was going to do it in Snow White Shimmer Cube but the Lady I made it for said the other colour she liked was purple (she hadn't seen what I was doing with the photo until I was finished)

So I used the Colour Shimmer Cube Royalty 

 I used the Colour Artist Ink Slipper and some water for the flowers as they weren't white and didn't look right 
I also used it on a few of the other embellishments

 I used a Flair from Embellish With Flair it's from the You Make Me Smile Set
I also used some Cocoa Vanilla Studio Happiness Accessory Stickers and Die Cut Ephemera set

 The Heart is from Finnabair and I filled it with some Silver Art Ingredients Glass Glitter and used a Cocoa Vanilla Studio saying sticker from the Happiness collection to put on top same as I did with the saying on the arrow

The chipboard arrow is from a Memory Maze Set Arrow love me and you

"Together" scrapbook layout + process video by Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

It's Sue Plumb here with my latest Colour Blast design team project for you. Today I have a 12x12" mixed media scrapbook layout to share that features Colour Spray, Colour Artist Inks and Colour Paste. It also features a photo of one of my most special scrappy friends and I that was taken at a scrap retreat earlier this year.

To start my page, I applied 'Indigo' Colour Spray to my cardstock using a wide brush. (I chose indigo as my base colour because it matched the highlights in my hair.) 

I then mixed some white acrylic paint with a few drops of both 'Lime' and 'Grass' Colour Artist Inks, using an old ice cream container lid as my palette.

Once the paint was tinted, I used a brayer to apply it to my page over the top of the Colour Spray I had brushed on.

Next, I added some more colour, by dripping some 'Lime' Colour Artist Ink directly onto my page using the dropper from the bottle, before tilting my page around to help the ink run. 

Once I had dried the paint and ink, I added some stamping over the top using a floral stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps and some StazOn ink. 

Then it was time to add some texture and a bit more colour. I used 'Just Blue' Colour Paste, which I applied with a palette knife through a floral stencil before drying it off with a heat gun.

With my background layers in place, I then added my papery layers using patterned papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and also some frayed gauze before adding my photo on top.

I also added some gorgeous floral cut files from Cut to You (which I had Gwen cut for me as it was far easier than dragging out my own Silhouette! haha) I chose not to back them, and left them white to contrast against all the colour I had already used in the background. I also bent them up from the page in places, which only added to the dimension of my layout. 

I complimented the floral theme I already had going on in my background by adding some paper flowers and leaves (all from D-lish Scraps). It's been a long time since I used flowers on a page, so it was nice to use up some supplies that had been sitting around gathering dust.

I also used up some old wood veneer pieces and phrase strips from Cocoa Vanilla Studio, as well as my cardstock title that I added directly onto the bottom edge of my photo.

I then reached for my 'Soot' Colour Artist Ink and a fine brush to add some splatters to my page.

The final step was to use my 'Clear' Colour Shimmer Brush Marker to add some subtle sparkle to the paper flowers and leaves and also to the tips of some of the cut files. 

It was hard to capture the delicious sparkle, but I did my best!

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. Today I am sharing a mixed media scrapbook layout that features Colour Artist Inks, Colour Paste and Colour Shimmer Dust. It also features a photo that was taken at a scrapbook retreat last year with some of my favourite people. 

To create my page I began with a sheet of white cardstock, which I brushed from side to side with 'Barley' Colour Artist Ink using a wide brush. (The key to making sure your brush strokes are visible is ensuring your brush is not too wet.)

Over the top of the ink, I added some texture using 'Stormy Weather' Colour Paste and a stencil from Dusty Attic. I applied the paste to three areas on my page, then wiped off the excess paste from my palette knife randomly around.

Once the Colour Paste had dried, I used some stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps to add extra depth to my background.

Once my background was completely dry, I gathered together some papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio that all featured navy. I cut several pieces in different sizes and shapes, layered them together and secured them with staples before adhering to my page. 

I then turned my attention to the embellishments for my layout, reaching for a pack of paintable Heidi Swapp ephemera. These pieces all feature "resist" details, that is revealed once the pieces are painted. I mixed up some 'Cobalt' Colour Shimmer Dust with a small amount of water and used a small brush to paint each of the pieces. I gave each piece more than one coat to ensure the colour really popped.

Once the ephemera pieces were dry, I added them to my page, along with some Cocoa Vanilla Studio chipboard frames and stickers, before adding my photo on top. I used a small amount of cardboard behind my photo to help pop it up from the page.

I used foam Thickers to add my title to the page.

The final step in my process was to add some splatters of 'Marine' Colour Artist Ink around my page.

I am really happy with how this layout turned out. This is not a colour combination that I would have ordinarily opted to create with, but allowing my palette to be guided by the colours of the photo really did yield a fantastic result.

So for my last page, I'm sharing a combo of two great Aussie Company's - Cocoa Vanilla Studio and Colour Blast = Perfect Match!

For this page I've used the following

Colour Spray Rainforest

Colour Shimmer Spray Apple of my eye

Colour Paste Just Blue

Black heavy gesso

Using a spatula, I'm adding some Colour Paste Just Blue and allowing it to dry naturally.

While it's drying, I've cut a circle with my Cameo and then sprayed it with Colour Spray Rainforest and Colour Shimmer Spray Apple of my eye.

The two together create a lovely green shimmer!

I've dried this with the heat gun and I love the way the circle has kind of warped and has such a textured feel to it - I decided to leave it this way on the page.

I next went on and did some paper layering and fussy cut the title.

The background still needed something to help it POP!

So I went to my "go to" product - Black heavy gesso.

Once everything is dry, I've added the rest of the layers and some stickers.

Black gesso over colour paste gives a gorgeous effect and I can't wait to try this with the "Sunshine" paste.

The green sparkly textured circle is one of my favourite parts of the page and I'm looking forward to doing this again in the future.
