The Best Moments by Danielle Vertigan

The Best Moments are so often captured when we least expect it.

Our phones and tech seem to catch all our shots.

A giggle over a meal, a peak around a tree.....

These moments are around us everyday and they are the moments to savour.

This was a fun layout to put together.

It was coming back to basics and I really enjoyed the simplicity of it.

I started with my usual step of adhering white cardstock to a sheet of chipboard.

I am still addicted to Heavy Black Gesso

There is nothing like it on the market!

I painted through the centre of my sheet, creating at eye.

I stamped the edges in brickwork using a stazon ink.

Next using the Bubblegum  Colour Spray

I spritzed my stamp work

I also at this stage slightly rotated my page to try and prevent dripping whilst minimising

pooling. I wanted a fairly even colour.

Once dried I chose a stencil and selected the Bling Colour Shimmer Cube

These goodies pack a punch and are so versatile.

You will need some water on hand, a paint brush and paper towel.

First thing I did was give my cube a light spritz.

I mixed this in with the paint brush.

Using the brush I dabbed it through my stencil and finished it off with the paper towel.

I rubbed it through the Colour Shimmer Cube first and then rubbed it over the stencil to strengthen the colour.

I repeated this for 2 butterflies and then using the brush only I also applied the

shimmer cube to 2 areas to the top left and bottom right.

I selected a butterfly from the same stencil and keeping it simple I traced the butterfly

onto my layout using a gel pen and liked them with dotted lines.

I touch of detail was added into the butterflies.

The Border creates a nice touch.

You can see hoe the butterfly has almost taken an embossed appearance.

It looks like a printed part of the cardstock.

I love it.

As with all Colour Blast Products the shimmer is second to none.

You will also see some Cubes here.

These where done with a gel pen around the edge of my Colour Shimmer Cubes.

Some embellishments to finish and the layout has come together

Just as I'd imagined.

The colours in the image are all captured just as I'd hoped and rolled into the layout perfectly.

Hi Colour Blast Lovelies,

Today I am sharing a layout that is a series of photos that I just love and of course they had to be set on a mixed media background.

I went back to my favourite technique of Colour Shimmer Dusts and Stamping.  A tried and tested (my favourite) technique.

For this layout I used Peacock, Lollipop and Passion Colour Shimmer Dusts to create a rough water colour background.  The trick is to use a fair it of water and a large loose bristle brush.  My favourite is a large round brush.

I then Stamped over the top with Permanent Ink.

I tried to take a photo of the shimmer here to show you how awesome it is but it is very hard to photograph because it is so fine.

Finally I added embellishments and a title.

The Sweet Life by Tracey Campbell

Hello and welcome back to the Colour Blast Blog where I have the pleasure of making lovely layouts with some wonderfully delicious Australian Products. I love to support our local business here in Australia and am proud to be using these high quality products.

This post I am going to share with you one of the very first photos that we had taken when we first moved here to Jervis Bay, a beautiful sunset in the Basin, just down the road from our house. I wanted to create a soft page to go with the colours in the photo.

 First up I covered the centre area of a piece of lined patterned paper with the Heavy White Gesso.

 Here you can see that I did not paint it on smoothly, I applied it in a cris-cross pattern to get some texture into it.

 Once the Heavy White Gesso was dry I used a piece of scrap plastic packaging to apply some Bubblegum Colour Spray to the paper. This is a simple but messy technique where you spray directly onto the plastic,

 then flip it over onto your paper and press down.

 Do this a few times to create patches of colour across you page.

 The Colour Spray will look a little lighter when it is dry. Next I used Bling Colour Paste through a decorative stencil.

I wanted to add some soft flowers to my layout but I did not have the right colour on me. So I mixed two Colour Sprays together, Bubblegum and Saffron, with some water to dilute it down like water colour paint.

 Then using a diecut rose stencil I painted the diluted Colour Spray in the petal spaces on so some cardstock. As you can see I used various stages of the Colour Sprays mixed together - ranging from the yellow, to the pink to the mixed orange.

 Once I had finished painting the rose I took the stencil off and used it over again repeating the process.

 I then cut the roses out, leaving a small white boarder around the edge.

 Next up I used an embossing pen and drew around some of the edges of the rose petals to define them a bit more.

 I then sprinkled some Bling Colour Embossing Powder onto the drawn embossing ink and set it with the heat gun.

 Next I went back to working on the base paper, I added a couple of strips of patterned paper and some embossed reeds, to tie in the theme of the photo with the background. I used Rose Petal Colour Embossing Powder.

 Here you can see the Colour Blast layers that I have added to the patterned paper.

 Now I start to with the finishing touches, adding a bit of white paper bag as the mat for the photo, tucking the water painted roses onto the background and adhere a few pieces of cotton thread. This photo shows you how shimmery the Embossing Powders and the Colour Pastes are.

The final finishing touches of the title, enamel dots, journaling and a few glittered foam embellishments.

Cheshire Art Techniques by Amy Little

Hello Colour Blast Friends,

Amy L here with a few art journal techniques when you are next getting messy.

Step One - Using your Colour Mica Powder in Watermelon and Wisteria and acrylic white paint mixed together. Use a stencil and paint it on. This will be a lighter colour and so make sure to use it for subtle layers.

Step 2 - Use Colour White Gesso and Colour Black Gesso mixed together to create a grey and use that to paint a tree. You can thin the gesso out with water for a more acrylic paint look. I used these three colours to paint the tree and I made sure not to mixed it completely together so you can see the different colours in the grey.

Step 3 - Bling Colour Paste  is a great way to add a layer of with a clock stencil. Colour blast paste is best for small intricate stencils

Hi Everyone, I love a good gathering of goods, getting as many pieces together from the beginning is really helpful in getting to a final product in good time.

This was an ultra fun LO where I have dusted and misted until my heart was content.

Prepping some regular cardstock with White Heavy Gesso with an old store card is a great start.

Then I got to do the 'dusting' using three green and blue tones of Colour Shimmer Dust, Duke, Peacock and Navy. I used a dry paintbrush that I dipped into the pot, tapped of the excess and then tapped across my DRY gesso'd page. I did this with all three colours, randomly.

Next, I misted the dustings =)

Activating the Colour Shimmer Dusts.

ACTIVATION!!!! So pretty!!

I then dabbed away the excess moisture.

And after drying off, I admired my background!

Adding a cut file, thickers, stamping, card layers and enamel dots...

my page came together very quickly...

 the texture and shine of the Colour Blast products are sooo yummy!

And there I have...another page to enter into my life's fairytale x
