Mum's Little Man by Amy L

Hello CB friends,

Amy here to share with you my final layout for Colourblast. I feel very blessed to be apart of this beautiful team. I have made use of the most gorgeous Colour Shimmer cubes!

The cardstock is primed with a clear gesso to start. I mixed tiny drop of water with Dusty Charcoal Colour Shimmer Cube to start. I wanted it REALLY black and splattered over the cardstock.

Once dry I used a good amount of water with  Just Blue and Singing the Blues Colour Shimmer Cubes. I sprinkled that around the cardstock and made sure not to mix the 2.

Once dry I layered with embellishments and the photo and a beautiful layout has been created.
I hope you are inspired to create this month with your new shimmer cubes or find your local stockist and get some.

Audrey Love by Amy Little

Hello CB friends,

Sunday Funday with Amy L here. I was stuck in bed one day and was inspired watching Audrey to create a little Colour Blast Art.

Step one- Draw in the features lightly with pencil.

Using a watercolour pencil, fill in your shadows.

Step 3 - Use Colour Mica Powder Espresso, Watermelon and Polar. Use more pigment in the shadow areas and more water in the lighter area. Taking advantage of your white space can really make the layout pop!

Step 4 - Use some Colour Shimmer Dust Navy I painted in the corners of the art journal page by spreading some water and dropping a little dust in. Layer with a stencil some Colour Paste Bling for some texture.
And here is my Audrey Love I hope you have a go at using your white space.

Its a Amy L Sunday. Grab a coffee and get ready for some inspiration CB style.

Step One - This is an easy background. Water and Colour Mica Powder Polar and Watermelon. Spread this on each side. Don't mix it though.

Step 2 - Grab a feather and mix a little water with Colour Mica Powder Olive Grove, Lemon Zing and Wisteria. And do the same Colour Shimmer Dust Sunflower, Candy and Peacock. Paint it on and let dry. You will need to brush the feathers out.

Step 3- I have used a contour paint to create the dots on the feather

Its a Amy L Sunday ready for a bit of CB fun? I love this art journal page and am really happy to share it with you.

Step One - Use your Colour Mica Powder Cool Mint and Polar and pour a little on a puddle of water on your page. Spread out evenly. Sprinkle Colour Shimmer Dust Navy in a couple of spots. I have used strokes in a circle to spread the pigment.

Step 2 - I cut some stencils with my silhouette using cardstock. I mixed Heavy White Gesso and Heavy Black Gesso to create the grey and a sponge.

Step 3 - I have splashed on some white for stars, I have used Colour Mica Powder Olive to surround the blue. I have painted the trees in Heavy Black Gesso.

Cheshire Art Techniques by Amy Little

Hello Colour Blast Friends,

Amy L here with a few art journal techniques when you are next getting messy.

Step One - Using your Colour Mica Powder in Watermelon and Wisteria and acrylic white paint mixed together. Use a stencil and paint it on. This will be a lighter colour and so make sure to use it for subtle layers.

Step 2 - Use Colour White Gesso and Colour Black Gesso mixed together to create a grey and use that to paint a tree. You can thin the gesso out with water for a more acrylic paint look. I used these three colours to paint the tree and I made sure not to mixed it completely together so you can see the different colours in the grey.

Step 3 - Bling Colour Paste  is a great way to add a layer of with a clock stencil. Colour blast paste is best for small intricate stencils

And here is my Cheshire Cat Art Journal

December Story with Mica Powders by Amy L

Hello Colour Blast friends,

Today Amy L  here would like to show you how to add a little Mica and Shimmer dust effects to your layouts.

Step 1- Gather together 3 powders of choice. For this layout I have used  Watermelon &  Polar Colour Mica Powder as well as Candy Colour Shimmer Dust.

Step 2 - Mix 2 lots of each colour. One set with a larger amount of water creating a duller colour and one set with a smaller amount of water created a stronger colour

Step 2 - Using a water colour brush spread your duller dust mixture abstractly over the page. Drip in clusters with the stronger colour making sure to spread it outside of your embellishment clusters
Step 3 - Once dry stick down your desired embellishments and photos. I hope you have a try at this technique.

Art Journal Go For It by Amy Little

Hello There CB friends,
Amy L here
With the new addition of black gesso to the CB collection I had to have a play.

I started this page with structure paste with a stencil. Next I sprinkled Peacock and Navy Colour Shimmer Dust and Colour Mica Powder in Cool Mint and Polar with water to create the above effect. I then silhouetted the blue with black gesso. The thick paste can easily cover the textures.

I used the Heavy White Gesso for this clipboard title.

Finally I added some stamping and washi tape to finish the page.

Here is my Go for It Journal Page.

Hope you enjoyed it

Summer by Amy Little

Hello Sweet Colour Blast Friends,

Amy here with another layout this time adding dimension to your already fabulous traditional scrapbook layout. I am a paper crafter first and was introduced to mixed media by being convinced to join a class with paint and BOOM thats when my world opened up. You can still layer paper and add some dimension with your mixed media. Let me show you how.

With this layout I used Lush Colour Shimmer Dust mixing it with a little water I altered a patterned cardstock by brushing it all over the piece. This brought a different watercolour look the already gorgeous cardstock. I then used Deep Water Colour Paste and using a sweet flower stencil layered in on several pieces of card stock. Then layering the card stock and matching embellisments. I created the above layout

The great part about Colour Paste is the more intricate the stencil the better the design. This is a sweet perfect flower that is a beautiful contrast against the white cardstock.

Stay tuned next blog post will have progress shots of a sweet art journal page I created using the new BLACK GESSO.

Backyard By Amy Little

Hello Colour Blast Friends,

A different and just as fabulous Amy here to share my first every design for the amazing Colourblast. I am going to do my best and hopefully inspire you to use those lovely little pots a little more often with your scrapbook layouts.

For this background you will need a mosiac stencil, Tangareen Dream Colour Paste ,
Colour Shimmer Dust Candy and Sunflower
and water. (perhaps in a spray bottle)

Start with your stencil diagonal down the page and smear on your Colour Paste. Don't be shy we all love this stuff. Once that has dried enough spray on water liberally on the page. Dust a tiny bit of Candy and Sunflower Colour Shimmer Dust over different parts of your page and tilt your page so it will dribble. Spray more water if you need to. It will warp but once it is in your album it will re flatten

Once that all dries layer your photo and little pieces of matching card. I used snippets from 4 6x4 cards to create the clusters around my photo.
Journal with a good pen and feel free to draw a border around your background.

Here is Backyard

I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial
