Bricks and mortar by Linda Pearson

For today’s blog entry I was feeling in a painterly mood and wanted to try out a new technique using a stamp in a different way.  I chose the City Lights stamp and the Distressed Bricks A5 stencil to create this painting.  The substrate I used was a canvas media board from Dina Wakely but a heavy cardstock (350gsm +), journal or canvas can easily be utilised.

Bee Arty products used in the project:

City lights clear stamp set
Shimmer dust – (assorted colours)
Mica powder – (assorted colours)
Distressed bricks A5 stencil (Rustic Dreams collection)
Catalyst silicone mini blades tool
Craft Powder Spoon
Darice 6 well paint palette

Bee Arty has a variety of stamps that could be used alternatively with this process:
Eye spy clear stamp set
Kind heart clear stamp set
New dawn clear stamp set
Serendipity clear stamp set
Time flies clear stamp set
Zen red rubber stamp set

Other products used:
Moulding paste (thick texture paste)
Dina Wakley media board
Dark brown (umber) fluid paint
Dark brown archival ink and blending tool

Apply a layer of texture paste through the
Distressed bricks A5 stencil (Rustic Dreams collection) over the top section of the media board using a Catalyst silicone mini blades tool.  While still wet apply a liberal amount of textured paste over the rest of the substrate.

Press firmly the City lights clear stamp set into the wet texture paste to form a good impression in the paste.   Remove stamp and allow to dry thoroughly as watery mixes of colour will be added to the dried paste.

In the Darice 6 well paint palette add small amounts of Shimmer dust in a variety of colours to suit the stamped and stencilled images.  Using a small round brush to colour the images as desired.  Please note: some colours were mixed together and some Mica powder was added to produce colours also.   Also the water mixes may activate the textured paste if not died sufficiently before adding colour to piece.  Allow to dry thoroughly when complete.

Add detailing to the image by using a darker brown (or appropriate colour e.g. black to suit colour choices).  A fluid mix is required and a fine liner brush to add the brown colour to the shape of the indented sections of the stamped image.
Distress around the border of the substrate with dark brown archival ink and blending tool.

Thank you for stopping by, look forward to sharing with you again soon.
Cheers from Linda

Reality Changes by Linda Pearson

For my project today I was very excited to create using the brand new Saltwater paper collection by Amy Evans.

I went a little crazy with a variety of Embossing powders and Mica powders to create some awesome mixes to highlight the elements included.  As always this journal page could easily be adapted to include a photo image for a scrapbook layout.

Saltwater paper collection by Amy Evans

Ocean Floor 12x12 paper

Something Fishy 12x12 cut-outs paper

Under the sea A6 stencil

Aquatic Life clear stamp set

School of Fish A4 stencil

Waves metal die

White Cardstock – Bee Arty A4

Embossing powder – blue, teals, green, pinks, purples, yellow,

Mica powder – blue, teals, green, pinks, purples, yellow,

Shimmer dust -  blue, teals, green, pinks, purples, yellow,

Ocean Floor 12x12 paper

Something Fishy 12x12 cut-outs paper

Cut out several elements from the cut-out page e.g. 2 corals bunches, gold seahorse, 3 fishes (asst sizes) or as desired.

Ocean Floor 12x12 paper pounce Versamark clear embossing ink through the School of Fish A4 stencil, then sprinkle a mix of blue/green Embossing powder powders add some Mica powder – shimmery colours and glitter if desired, over the clear ink, then heat set the powder to activate.

A and B  Under the sea A6 stencil Add the octopus to the top of the paper with texture paste then, add the seahorse to the page also with texture paste , allow to dry thoroughly.

C  Add the School of Fish A4 stencil to the background of the Ocean Floor 12x12 paper then sprinkle a mix of blue/green Embossing powder powders add some Mica powder – shimmery colours and glitter if desired, over the clear ink, then heat set the powder to activate.

D Waves metal die – In this instance I used the waves dies as seaweed, coloured with blue/greens Embossing powders mixed with coordinating mica powders to add some shimmer to the elements.

Aquatic Life clear stamp set – stamp the shell, starfish and sponge stamps (twice) onto a piece White Cardstock – Bee Arty A4, with versamark clear embossing ink, then sprinkle with cream Embossing powder , heat set to activate powder.

Colour the textured seahorse with blue/teal Shimmer dust powders.  Once dry arrange the cut out and stamped elements as desired with shells and sponges covering the bottom of the page.  Adhere with liquid adhesive and mounting tape as desired to add depth to the elements.

Cut around some of the coral reef (printed on page) to allow some of the coloured shells etc can be tucked in behind for providing depth to composition.  Wrap the tail of the yellow seahorse around the cut coral piece.

Distress the border of the page using black archival ink, accentuate the distressing to the bottom area to add shadows to the reef.

Add the sentiment to the page using mounting tape, distress the edges.  Adhere 2 fish cut-outs to the card edges.

I hope you are inspired to create this or similar project using this gorgeous collection.  Look forward to creating for you again soon.  Bye for now from Linda.

Kindness is Key by Linda Pearson

Welcome everyone to the blog.  Today I am pleased to share with you the process for creating a journal page using a range of Bee Arty products including; stamps, stencils, dies on Bee Arty Limited Edition scrapbook paper, a collection designed by Michelle Grant, Colourblast Shimmer Dusts, embossing powder and metal embellishment detailing.

Bee Arty Products used:

Darice 6 well paint palette

x-press it double sided tape 6mm

Craft Powder Spoon

Versamark Stamp pad translucent

Embossing powder – Steel (mix some bling embossing powder with Steel)

Shimmer dust – Passion, Peacock, Fern and Tan

Pipettes

Mini Mister bottles

Time Flies clear stamp set

Time flies metal plates stamp

Limited Edition clear stamp set

Limited Edition scrapbook paper collection designed by Michelle Grant

Alphabet metal die

White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4  x 2 sheets

Metal embellishments (own stash)

Adhesive

Mounting Tape

Golden Fiber Paste

Palette knife

Firstly, as I work in an A4 Journal I cut down the Limited Edition scrapbook paper collection  paper to suit A4 dimensions but you could easily work on the whole 12”x12” scrapbooking paper as a photo layout with a few modifications to the composition of the elements.

Using the  apply the Golden Fiber Paste through the stencil liberally.  Allow to dry thoroughtly.

(Note: Texture or modelling paste can be used, for gritty textured effect add some clean white sand to the texture paste mix.)

In a Darice 6 well paint palette  add a small separate quantities of Shimmer dust colours – Passion, Peacock and Fern using a Craft Powder Spoon.  Add some water using a Pipettes then stir very carefully until mixed.  Using a paint brush dribble each of the mixes in turn over the textured area, dry off thoroughly after applying each colour.  Repeat this step until satisfied with depth of colours.

Stamp the Time flies metal plates stamp, the bird and the eye/clock hands stamp (no image supplied here) from the Time Flies clear stamp set and the chain from the Limited Edition clear stamp set stamps onto a piece of White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4 using the Versamark Stamp pad translucent .  Sprinkle the embossing powders mix Embossing powder – Steel (mix some bling embossing powder with Steel), then with a heat tool until the powder changes and sets.

Next using the shimmer dust mixes from before, carefully fill in the embossed shapes with  a small paint brush.

Fussy cut all of these elements when dry.

On a second sheet of White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4 colour the card slightly bigger than the stamped metal plate to create a matt for behind using Shimmer dust colours – Tan/ Fern (strong mix).

When dry adhere the matt to the metal plate element.

On a separate sheet White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4 mix up Shimmer dust colour – Tan in a Mini Mister bottles spray liberally over the cardstock, spray with extra water to spread if necessary.     I had run the cardstock through the printer previously to add the sentiment (see below). Dry off.

The sentiment I used in this project:

TREAT EVERYONE WITH POLITENESS AND KINDNESS, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NICE, BUT BECAUSE …

Using a small paint brush add some splattering of Fern and Tan Shimmer dust liberally all over the cardstock, allow to dry.  Cut out the sentiment from he top of card.

Run the remaining splattered cardstock through the Die cut machine using the Alphabet metal die with the letters  -   Y O U   A R E.  These words lead on from the sentiment adhered to the top of the page.

Detailing adhere:

-        the letters -  Y O U  A R E   to the bottom of the metal plate card

-        the eye/clock hands element to the top right of the metal plate card, add a metal shape over the eye, then mount the bird over the top of the metal embellishment.

-        Adhere the chains to the left hand side of the page in an almost cross shape to connect the all the elements on the page.  Before gluing the horizontal cross section thread a metal key to link the meaning of the sentiment to the page.

-        Adhere the sentiment card, mounted to the top of the page.

-        Add other metal embellishments to the clock and a small cog onto the bird.

-        Add detailing with a permanent pen around the stencilled shapes to highlight detail.

-        Add a distressed border to the page.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you have been inspired to create your own journal page or photo layout using these amazing products.

Cheers for now and happy creating from Linda

Made With Love by Belinda Spencer

 Hello Bee Arty Fans!

It's Belinda here today to share my latest layout for Bee Arty inspired by the May Mood Board and featuring lots of gorgeous Colour Blast product.

Here's a reminder of the gorgeous inspiration for this month:

For this layout I worked with the stunning Grateful Heart collection. I cropped a sheet of the Hope patterned paper to size and mounted on the fabulous white cardstock for extra sturdiness.

I mixed up a concoction of Snow White Colour Blast Paste, Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust and Black Heavy Gesso for the darkest colour in the mood board and added to the page using the Rhythm A5 Stencil. I used a soft wet paintbrush and a water spray bottle to manipulate the product on the page letting it drip down the page and moving it around until I was happy with the coverage.

I diluted down the mix with some water and flicked it over the page too with the soft paintbrush.

Next I added some messy thread to my page and some pretty flowers that I coloured and fussy cut from the Together patterned paper. To colour the fussy cut image I used Colour Sprays in Lagoon, Saffron and Sunset. I mixed the Saffron and Sunset to achieve the pretty peach colour and diluted with a little water.

Once dry, I added the fussy cut image to the page.

Next I decided I needed a little more detail in the background so I used some of the leftover mix from the background stencilling, diluted it with water and painted it onto the Bokeh Stamp before stamping on my page. I love the messy watercolour effect this gives.

I painted a birdcage, page tabs and cute mason jars from the Family and Gathers patterned papers with the same colours as the main floral image and fussy cut those too. I sprayed an extra piece of white cardstock with the Saffron Colour Spray, let dry completely and then die cut the small die from the Grungy Filmstrip Die Set.

'Made With Love'

I added all of these pieces to my layout along with some more pieces fussy cut from the patterned papers including my title and quote. To finish I added some enamel dots from my stash.

Colour Blast products used:

- Lagoon
- Saffron
- Sunset

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you are feeling inspired to grab your Colour Blast stash and have a play.

Cheers

Be Fearless by Ros Aggett-Madley

Hi everyone, thanks for popping over today.  Today's share is all about no waste, made white scraps and left over product from previous projects.

I've created a tag for my share that started with a few things made from some left overs.  The tag itself was covered in with some left over Midnight and Cobalt Shimmer Dusts mixed with water.

The honeycomb piece was made from a piece I'd painted with some Heavy Black Gesso left over from a project.  I've then used this to mop up excess liquid from the Antique Shimmer Pen that I used on my last project.
After using the Honeycomb Die I set aside the middle pieces for a future project because they look like gorgeous little sequins.

My butterfly started on a scrap piece of paper which I have covered in embossing fluid.  I added a few layers of  Bling Embossing Powder so it was nice and thick.  While still hot I have pressed it with the script stamp form the Memories Stamp Set.

I then die cut this with the Butterfly Effect Die.

.

I have splashed the background with a little watered down Heavy White Gesso.

If you click here or on the photo below it will take you to another project I did a couple of years ago.  Same technique with embossing powder but this time I used it for the title on my page.

Hope you've been inspired 💙
