This project was way out of my comfort zone as I normally create painterly mixed media journal pages.  However, with this project I have not used any paints rather I have allowed the beauty of this amazing paper collection be the focal element of this page …. and I have used lace in a very paper crafty way. 

Wild Child 12x12 scrapbook paper

Bohemian Bliss Collection cut-out sheet

Boho tags sheet

Scripted stencil or Garden Poem 

x-press it double sided tape 6mm

Kind heart clear stamp set

Versamark Stamp pad translucent

Embossing powder – snow white

Sakura Gel Roll pen in White and Black or Life of colour or similar paint pens

Paper Artsy paint gold (or similar brand)

If creating a photo layout keep the paper at 12x12 size, however if creating a journal trim this paper down to suit your journal (sample is A4).

 

 

Fussy cut a section from the Wild Child 12x12 scrapbook paper from top to bottom of the right-hand side of the sheet following a line of flowers, leaves and stems.

 

 

Line the trimmed Wild Child 12x12 scrapbook paper cardstock along the right hand edge of the underpaper, attach this edge using glue or double sided tape  (N.B. keep the fussy cut edge open to allow the lace to be secured to the background page before adhering theWild Child 12x12 scrapbook paper cardstock completely).

Loosely pencil outline the fussy cut cardstock to mark the area where the lace will be glued between the two cardstock sheets.

 

  

Carefully glue the lace following the pencil line … check placement by overlaying the Wild Child 12x12 scrapbook paper moving the lace to be showing correctly.  Glue the wildchild paper over the lace to secure the paper.  Allow to dry.

 

 

 

Pounce gold paint through the Scripted stencil with a silicone sponge randomly across the page.  Dry off

 

 

Stamp the mandala from the Kind heart clear stamp set onto the background using Versamark Stamp pad translucent

.  Sprinkle with Embossing powder – snow white embossing powder, set powder thoroughly using a heat gun.

 

Outline some of the flowers using Sakura Gelli Roll pen or similar white paint pen.

 

 

Select and cut out 2-3 tags from the Boho tags or add your images if making a photo layout.  Also fussy cut a selection of butterflies, birds and leaves from the Bohemian Bliss Collection cut-out sheet.  Adhere randomly around tags/photos and page.  You may wish to outline these embellishments with the Sakura Gelli Roll pen or paint pen to highlight.

 

Add a title or sentiment and you are done.  I hope you are happy as I was in creating this page so out of my comfort zone, but I am very happy with the results.   Happy crafting and see you again soon.

Welcome everyone to the blog.  Today I am pleased to share with you the process for creating a journal page using a range of Bee Arty products including; stamps, stencils, dies on Bee Arty Limited Edition scrapbook paper, a collection designed by Michelle Grant, Colourblast Shimmer Dusts, embossing powder and metal embellishment detailing.

Firstly, as I work in an A4 Journal I cut down the Limited Edition scrapbook paper collection  paper to suit A4 dimensions but you could easily work on the whole 12”x12” scrapbooking paper as a photo layout with a few modifications to the composition of the elements.

Using the  apply the Golden Fiber Paste through the stencil liberally.  Allow to dry thoroughtly.

(Note: Texture or modelling paste can be used, for gritty textured effect add some clean white sand to the texture paste mix.)

 

In a Darice 6 well paint palette  add a small separate quantities of Shimmer dust colours – Passion, Peacock and Fern using a Craft Powder Spoon.  Add some water using a Pipettes then stir very carefully until mixed.  Using a paint brush dribble each of the mixes in turn over the textured area, dry off thoroughly after applying each colour.  Repeat this step until satisfied with depth of colours.

 

 

 

Stamp the Time flies metal plates stamp, the bird and the eye/clock hands stamp (no image supplied here) from the Time Flies clear stamp set and the chain from the Limited Edition clear stamp set stamps onto a piece of White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4 using the Versamark Stamp pad translucent .  Sprinkle the embossing powders mix Embossing powder – Steel (mix some bling embossing powder with Steel), then with a heat tool until the powder changes and sets.

Next using the shimmer dust mixes from before, carefully fill in the embossed shapes with  a small paint brush.

Fussy cut all of these elements when dry.

On a second sheet of White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4 colour the card slightly bigger than the stamped metal plate to create a matt for behind using Shimmer dust colours – Tan/ Fern (strong mix). 

 

When dry adhere the matt to the metal plate element.

 

On a separate sheet White Cardstock – Bee Arty – 250gsm A4 mix up Shimmer dust colour – Tan in a Mini Mister bottles spray liberally over the cardstock, spray with extra water to spread if necessary.     I had run the cardstock through the printer previously to add the sentiment (see below). Dry off.

The sentiment I used in this project:

TREAT EVERYONE WITH POLITENESS AND KINDNESS, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NICE, BUT BECAUSE …

Using a small paint brush add some splattering of Fern and Tan Shimmer dust liberally all over the cardstock, allow to dry.  Cut out the sentiment from he top of card.

Run the remaining splattered cardstock through the Die cut machine using the Alphabet metal die with the letters  -   Y O U   A R E.  These words lead on from the sentiment adhered to the top of the page.

                

Detailing adhere:

-        the letters -  Y O U  A R E   to the bottom of the metal plate card

-        the eye/clock hands element to the top right of the metal plate card, add a metal shape over the eye, then mount the bird over the top of the metal embellishment.

-        Adhere the chains to the left hand side of the page in an almost cross shape to connect the all the elements on the page.  Before gluing the horizontal cross section thread a metal key to link the meaning of the sentiment to the page.

-        Adhere the sentiment card, mounted to the top of the page. 

-        Add other metal embellishments to the clock and a small cog onto the bird.

-        Add detailing with a permanent pen around the stencilled shapes to highlight detail.

-        Add a distressed border to the page.

Magic happens … journal page created by Linda Pearson

 

Hi everyone … I had a lot of fun creating this journal page using the newly released Colourblast Shimmer Dusts powders (Wine, Lavender, Tan and Fern).  Before doing the journal page I spent some time trying out the new colours using different mediums and have added the colour card here for you to view.

Several Bee Arty mixed media products were used in this project and the links have been provided here for you to view and purchase online. 

Bee Arty products used:

Colourblast Shimmer Dusts (Wine, Lavender, Tan and Fern plus Sunshine for bees)

Darice 6 well paint palette

A4 Cardstock 250gsm (3 sheets approx. my project was A5 size)

Beach Fence die  please note:  the beach fence die is now discontinued but you could substitute the new  forest favourites (whispering woods collection) die just as easily

In the sample colour card above I have added the Colourblast Shimmer Dusts to a variety of mediums to demonstrate how these versatile products can be used in a variety of ways.  I have used Bee Arty white Gesso, Texture Paste, Colourblast Embossing powder and water.  The intensity of colour will depend on how much shimmer dust is added.  I like intense colours but simply adding more medium (e.g. water or gesso) will change the hue to suit your requirements.

GESSO  …  using a Craft Powder Spoon add a quantity of Shimmer Dusts to the Gesso and mix thoroughly (n.b. the colour will lighten considerably due to the intensity of the gesso), simply add more shimmer dust to strengthen hue.

TEXTURE/MODELLING PASTE  …  again add a quantity of Shimmer Dusts to your preferred brand of texture paste, mix thoroughly then spread paste through stencil.

EMBOSSING POWDER  …  stamp image using Versamark embossing ink pad, sprinkle with clear Embossing powder, then heat set the powder.  Mix a small amount of Shimmer Dusts in water then with small brush add shimmer liquid to the stamped image to colour.  Dry and add more for greater intensity of colour.

WATER  …  add a quantity of shimmer dust to a small welled Darice 6 well paint palette

 and some water (with pipette) to each colour, mix thoroughly.  On this card I added an intense mark on the bottom, then a wash above it by adding more water to the mix.

     

Use up the excess shimmer colours in palette onto several pieces of card, see above,  on the two pieces that I was going to use in the journal page I splashed with a little water after applying the shimmer liquid to create splotches / texture over the card.

 

 Below are the instructions for the journal page I created using two of the backgrounds from above.

 

When playing with the leftover shimmer colours I created this background using the Shimmer Dusts Lavender, Fern and Tan colours.  Some water had been added to lighten the hues for the background.  I ‘flicked’ some water (with fingers) onto the wet card to create the textured effect.  Allow to dry.  The second Tan and Wine card is used to cut the Honeycomb metal die through a machine.

 

 

I stamped the side flower and the bees from the  set onto a piece of card with Versamark embossing ink pad.  Cover with Embossing powder then set using a heat gun. 

Colour the flowers using Lavender Shimmer Dusts.  The bee was coloured using Sunshine Shimmer Dusts.  Fussy cut the flowers and bee shapes from the card.

 

 

     
 

Run the Beach Fence die (or equivalent die shape) on A4 Cardstock 250gsm through the die machine.  Brush the fence with Tan and the grass in Fern Shimmer Dusts.

 

When dry adhere to prepared background card.

 

Adhere the flowers and a bee onto Honeycomb metal die-cut shape.  Add mounting tape to the back behind the flowers.  Add the focal element to the card over the fenced die-cut.

 

 

Cut another piece of A4 Cardstock 250gsm slightly larger than the main layer.  Colour the border of the card with the Wine Shimmer Dusts allow to dry.  Place the main card background onto the back matt leaving a small border around the main card.  Cut the back matt to correct size, then adhere in place. Add splatters of Fern and Tan Shimmer Dusts

 

 

Add the two remaining bees to the sky using mounting tape to lift off the page.  Loosely brush over some Fern and Tan Shimmer Dusts over the foreground to ‘ground’ the elements to the page.

Add sentiment to the page.  Draw borders using black pen around the edge of sentiment words and main layer’s edge.
