Its been a fabulous Christmas resting riverside

with my family and looking back over the years I really do treasure the moments and relationship we make along the way!

So with that get your White Cardstock ready!

Back it to a 12x12 sheet of cardstock because we have many layers

and lets get started.

Using Colour Artist Inks, a paint brush and an egg ring it was time to start.

Today I'm going to be working with

Berry, Slipper and later on Grass.



Holding the ring firm I painted the inside using the Slipper

Artist Ink and held the ring firm.



I then lifted the ring and replaced it to create the ring you see for extra texture.



I repeated the same process 3 times



I then found a cookie cutter with a smaller ring size.

I then repeated the process using the Berry Ink.

I did this four times.

Don't be afraid to lap the edge of the page.



I have then added a freehand border before choosing

Colour Shimmer Spray in Just Blue.



I have then spritzed my page.

You will notice I have still left some white space.

Using a musical notes stamp I have filled in selected circles.



My next layers are added with

Colour Paste in Bling 

and

Colour Shimmer Spray in Sunshine



I first ran the Bling Paste through my stencil and then

spritzed the page using Colour Shimmer Spray in Sunshine.

I tried to use whiter areas to avoid colour bleed.



Using the Artist Ink in grass and the tip of my paintbrush

from earlier I used a sweeping motion to add

another layer of colour.

Its now time to embellish!!

Using Sequins for a little bling and some Flower clusters.

It came together nicely.

The shimmer from the Sunshine Shimmer Spray is stunning.

Bling still has to be one of my all time favourite pastes!

A must have for anyone's kit...



And there you have it!!

Lots of colour, Lots of layers and a great mix of products.

Summer Fun by Danielle Vertigan

Christmas has been and gone and just like that we are in holiday mode..

I was reminded of my favourite photo from last summer so I decided to share.

I'm really loving the simplicity of the Colour artist Inks.

There is so much you can use them for and they are extremely easy to use.

The effects in the brush stoke has to be one of my favourite things.

To get started I'm working with

Colour Artist Ink in Berry using a brush roughly 1/2 an inch wide

I ran strokes horizontal on my page in a sweeping motion.

I continued this technique till I had completed my desired pattern.

I then added a second colour with Marine.

I diluted this in sections by dipping my brush in water.

Using Colour Paste in Snow White

I ran it through a bubbles stencil randomly around my page to create a translucent effect.

I cut my little people out of the photo image and began to embellish.

Using a gel pen and short lines a created a border reminding me of branches.

But still felt something was missing.

So I also added some gel pen circles.



I have kept them rough preferring a rustic look.

I love how it works with the Snow White bubbles and the strokes of colour.

And there you have it!

So simple but effective! A great example of how mixed media can still be restrained

whilst also a lot of fun!

Celebrating '40' by Danielle Vertigan

Don't you just love New goodies???

Well this one is a real treat.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new Colour Artist Inks and they certainly don't disappoint.

To get started on this one I chose the Mermaid and Oasis.

A water spritzer, paint brush in two sizes and a water cup.

I started with Oasis and my larger brush.

Using white cardstock I mounted it onto 12x12 Chipboard.

I helps add stability and this one is gonna get wet.





Using the brush and painting direct from the pot I worked horizontally on my page.

I did this in a pattern that I found pleasing.

 

I'm really impressed with how easily it paints, the finish on the strokes.

How clean it is to work with and how fast it dries.

So far its tick, tick, tick from me.

Next I spritzed the ink with a water spray.

The pooling effect and water colour that develops is really effective.

All the small dots formed from where the spritzer first made contact.

there is also a fine mist overspray which you will se below.

The fine mist is clean and effective.

The water colouring is a real favourite particularly with the mix of blended colour with the clean brush strokes.

Using the thin brush I began adding the Mermaid Ink by holding it into wet areas and allowing it to spread.

I also really like it some wet areas the colour has separated creating the white void.

I continued the psocess of adding another colour and also added water using the brush.

I combined this with tilting and jolting the page to encourage runs.

Along water wash lines I painted in a fine line.



You will notice that in all the images there is no blending of colour.

They continue to remain separate even though I have been layering them ontop of each other.

I added another layer of colour by using the same process with Marine.

The way the ink interacts with the water is a real highlight.

The next product I added is Stormy Weather  Colour Paste

Using a spatula straight onto the page.

I completed this visually.

 

I then began spritzing a few random areas using

 Colour Shimmer Spray in Envy

This reactivated the dry ink creating a secondary watercolour stain.

My last step was to finish it off with some flicks direct from the stalk.

I set this aside and allowed to dry.

Then its time to embellish.....

Lots of layers and lots of Textures.

The different levels to the water colours is by far my favourite thing.

The way the Artist Inks react and separate is amazing.

I also love you can still have clean brush strokes.

Its taken me a whole year to get round to this image, but I think it was worth the wait...
