1 product 3 ways by Tracey Campbell

Hello and welcome back, I wanted to do something a little different this time. I wanted to take just one Colour Blast product and show you three different ways to use it on your background cardstock to create three quick and simple layouts. I chose Rainforest Colour Spray.

Background One

 Take the straw out of the Colour Spray and splatter onto the cardstock.  Hold close to the cardstock and flick for smaller splats. For the bigger droplets hold as much spray onto the straw as you can and let build up into one drop and let it go from a distance.

 Once dry finish the layout our off with a photo, patterned paper, embellishments, journaling and a title. Using the Colour Spray splatters on the background creates interest and movement across your page.  

Background Two 

  Use a 12x12 stencil over the cardstock and simply spray with Rainforest Colour Spray over the top. Lift the stencil off without tilting it as the extra spray may run. A quick and easy way to add a visual texture to your creation.

Once dry finish off your layout with a photo, embellishments, a title, patterned paper and journaling. 

Bonus Extra

If you are like me and hate to waist any product then when you take your stencil off after spraying it like in the layout above quickly flip it over and press it down with your hand onto another plain piece of cardstock.

 You will be left with a reverse stencil pattern and another 12x12 background to use at a later stage.

Background Three

Working quickly make two puddles of Rainforest Colour Spray on your 12x12 background cardstock. Whilst still wet pick the 12x12 cardstock up and let the puddles of Colour Spray run down the page. 

 You may need to guide the runs where to go with a gentle blow or the tip a brush. Using the Colour Spray this way creates movement and interest in your background.

Finish off the layout with patterned paper, embellishments, titles and journaling. 

So as you can see the Colour Sprays are versatile and easy to use, they create interest, movement and visual texture to your creations. I wanted to do this post for those of you who are only new to the Colour Blast products to show you that you can start your collection off with just one product and still create many things from it. But I do warn you all..... these Colour Blast products are highly addictive!!!

Art Journal Go For It by Amy Little

With the new addition of black gesso to the CB collection I had to have a play. 

 I started this page with structure paste with a stencil. Next I sprinkled Peacock and Navy Colour Shimmer Dust and Colour Mica Powder in Cool Mint and Polar with water to create the above effect. I then silhouetted the blue with black gesso. The thick paste can easily cover the textures.

I used the Heavy White Gesso for this clipboard title.

Finally I added some stamping and washi tape to finish the page.

Always Remember Who You Are by Ree Peace

 Hi everyone!

I have a bit of a messy background for you all this time.

Starting with Kraft paper, I stamped up a treat with Stazon and this super cute stamp.

Next a few random placements of Fire Engine Colour Paste over parts of my stamping through a stencil.

Adding to the layers, I created lines with White Heavy Gesso using the edge of a store card.

Some splatters of two Colour Sprays, Love and Roadbase pulled the background together.

While the last of it was drying naturally I prepped and coated some hexagon chippy with

 Stormy Weather Colour Embossing Powder.

With some careful placement and some additions of washi tape, cotton and some letter stickers, my page came together beautifully!

Rachel with you today with a grungy boy layout 

"My Boy".

I have a step by step tutorial of how I created my layout-

First I layered my base colour using Candy Colour Shimmer Dust. I picked up a tiny bit out of the pot with the end of my palette knife, tipped it on the page then sprayed with water. I used a paintbrush and lots of water to move the colour around the page to where I wanted it in a rectangle shape.

Once it was dry I used Fire Engine Colour Paste through a stencil in random spots around the page. Then once that had dried I used another stencil this time with Stormy Weather Colour Paste.

I then painted my chipboard pieces with Black Heavy Gesso.

Once they were dry I heat embossed some key pieces with Dusty Charcoal and Fire Engine Colour Embossing Powders.

I then added some stamping to my background for some depth. I also added some splatters of Road Base Colour Spray by taking the nozzle out of the bottle and flicking the straw onto the page.

I then added a paper stack to frame my photo, and finished off with some words and quotes.  I didn't want too many embellishments on my layout as I wanted 
the background as the real hero of the project.

Hello and welcome to Colour Blast for March!

There always seems to be exciting things happening here at Colour Blast! And if it isn't special promotions or new products, it is the team trying new techniques.

This page has been a work in progress for a while for me. My good buddy and fellow DT member Melissa and I tried the "rock salt" technique with some Colour Shimmer Dusts. To be honest, it took me a month to figure out how to use the paper it created!

In the end the page I created had some great elements with Colour Blast and I am happy to share the page and how I achieved it in today's blog post.

Firstly, the "rock salt" technique.

Basically, I  added water to the page and sprinkled on Colour Shimmer Dusts (I used Peacock, Cobalt, Sunflower and Lush). While it is still wet, add rock salt over all of the page. Then you need to leave it to dry naturally, overnight. Clearly this is a long range project, so give yourself time! The idea is that the rock salt will absorb some of the colour and create an interesting effect.

Once completely dry, shake and dust the salt off and I got this. Yup... It was interesting! I do love the mottled tones it created in the colour, but it took me a while to figure out how to use this beautiful piece of paper!

 

In the end I decided to use some flower and leaf stamps and stamp on the page....

And then spend an hour or so fussy cutting the leaves and flowers. The variations in colour in each flower looks really awesome!

As I am assembling my final page, I decided to add some subtle colour to the white cardstock background I have chosen. I add some Colour Paste in Snow White to the background through a stencil.

While the Snow White paste is still wet, I sprinkle some beads and sequins into the paste.

Here is the final page... you can see how I layered and added the flowers and leaves around the paper circle I cut. In the close ups you will also see and few finishing touches I made as the page came together.

Layered on the stamped flowers, I also included some simple beads, flower stamens and wood veneer. I also had some heart and flower wood veneer which I add painted white using the White Heavy Gesso  before embossing them shiny and white with Colour Embossing Powder in Snow White. Oh so shiny!

  

Sometimes projects take time. Sometimes we need to try new things. And sometimes, just sometimes, it all works out and you end up with a beautiful page to share.

Hi everyone!

It's Sue here today with my latest project created for Colour Blast. Today I am sharing a 12x12" layout that features a recent selfie I took before heading out. (Note to self: always take selfies when dressed up with make up on, you are more likely to scrap them!)

As you may already be aware, I am quite passionate about Aussie scrappers supporting our local Australian scrapbook industry; so I have combined a few of my other fave Aussie businesses to fly the flag alongside Colour Blast on this layout. I started with a sheet of patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla Studio for my background. As the floral pattern was only black and white, this meant I was able to choose any colour I wanted to customise it, so I went with a punchy pink!

To do my background, I first mixed up some Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust with a small amount of water in my palette. I then used a water brush to apply the colour to selected areas of my paper and set it aside to dry. (If you haven't already guessed, I LOVE my water brushes!) ;)

Whilst my background was drying, I grabbed a couple of wood veneer pieces that I planned to use and painted them using the new black heavy gesso. I was really happy with how smoothly the gesso went on, and the coverage was so good they didn't even require a second coat!

The next step in my process was to prepare the other embellishments I was planning to use. Like my previous layout I shared on the blog (here); I decided to use some "paintable" ephemera pieces to add to my layout. Again, I reached for my Colour Shimmer Dust, this time in Midnight. Once mixed, I applied it with a waterbrush. I gave each piece two coats of colour, as I wanted to ensure they looked really black.

When all my items had dried, it was time to assemble my layout. I adhered my patterned paper (which I had trimmed down to 11x11") onto a sheet of black cardstock, to form a black frame. I then layered some pink tissue paper and a paper doily to form a mat for my photo.

After that it was simply a matter of adding all my embellishments - wood veneer pieces from D-lish Scraps; painted ephemera; a Charms Creations handmade felt heart; and a flair button and phrase stickers from Flutterby Designs. (SO much Aussie goodness included there!)

I hope I have inspired you with my layout today. If you haven't got any of your own Colour Shimmer Dusts yet; or if you do, but haven't tried applying them with a water brush - then I highly recommend you try it.
