So Much Fun by Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here to share my latest project with you. Today I have a 12x12 layout that I created featuring some photos of one of my boys; a nursery rhyme gone wrong; and some gorgeous Colour Blast products.

To create this layout, I started by priming my cardstock with White Heavy Gesso. (I only covered the page about 3/4 of the way up, as I knew I wasn't going to be getting the top 1/4 of the page very wet.)

I then applied some Colour Shimmer Dusts (Peacock and Navy), that I had mixed with water using a paintbrush. (I stayed just below the line where the gesso on my page ended.) After applying some pools of colour across my page, I gave each pool an extra little squirt of water using a mister and then tilted my page up to allow the colour to run down and blend together a bit. I then dabbed on a little extra navy in some parts to give extra depth.

Next, I added some random splatters using Colour Shimmer Sprays (Singin' the Blues and Stormy Weather) by taking out the nozzle and flicking them around my page.

Once my background was dry, I added some stamping using Staz On ink to provide some extra detail.

Then it was time to construct my page. I created a layered mat for under my photos using some patterned paper and a paper doily. I then gathered together an assortment of small paper scraps, left over stickers and embellishments in various shades of blue (all from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and D-lish Scraps), which I then used to embellish my page.

(Creating monotone pages like this is a fabulous opportunity to use up all sorts of random left over embellishments!)

I chose to add strip journaling to this page, which I simply printed and cut up. (I am so glad that this was one of those funny things about my kids that I wrote down, it makes it so much easier to go back and scrap them!)

To finish off my layout I added some small phrase stamps, and a few splatters of Road Base Colour Spray (because everything is better with a few black splatters, right?)

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I hope this might inspire you to try creating your own monochromatic layout. As I mentioned, it's a great way to use up some of those left over bits and pieces in your stash, and it gives you a great excuse to get messy too! ;)
Until next time, happy scrapping!

'My Boy" by Rachel Dutko

Hello Colour Blast fans,
Rachel with you today with a grungy boy layout

"My Boy".

I have a step by step tutorial of how I created my layout-

First I layered my base colour using Candy Colour Shimmer Dust. I picked up a tiny bit out of the pot with the end of my palette knife, tipped it on the page then sprayed with water. I used a paintbrush and lots of water to move the colour around the page to where I wanted it in a rectangle shape.

Once it was dry I used Fire Engine Colour Paste through a stencil in random spots around the page. Then once that had dried I used another stencil this time with Stormy Weather Colour Paste.

I then painted my chipboard pieces with Black Heavy Gesso.

Once they were dry I heat embossed some key pieces with Dusty Charcoal and Fire Engine Colour Embossing Powders.

I then added some stamping to my background for some depth. I also added some splatters of Road Base Colour Spray by taking the nozzle out of the bottle and flicking the straw onto the page.

I then added a paper stack to frame my photo, and finished off with some words and quotes.  I didn't want too many embellishments on my layout as I wanted
the background as the real hero of the project.

Here is another look at the layout, and some close ups

Thanks for looking,

Rachel xx

You're Fabulous by Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a couple of recent scrapbook pages created using some of my favourite Colour Blast products.

The first layout that I have to share with you all today is this super fun Monochrome layout featuring a photo of myself and my gorgeous friend Fliss at her recent 40th birthday party.

For this layout I have used Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust on the background using one of my favourite techniques for working with Colour Shimmer Dusts. This technique is so simple yet so much fun to watch the magic happen. Simply spray some mixed media quality cardstock with a huge puddle of water in your desired shape, then sprinkle some of the Colour Shimmer Dust over the top lightly and watch it move around organically in the water. This results in gorgeous multi-tone colours as the pigments are left to naturally mix with the water. So much fun! This type of background is best to let dry naturally too as the force of hot air from a heat tool can destroy the gorgeous explosions of colours that you see here.

The next page that I have to share with you all today is titled 'You're Fabulous' and features a selfie of myself. Not one of my favourite photos of all time but I just wanted to create a layout reminding myself to ignore the haters in this world etc.

For this layout I have used Bubblegum Colour Spray and Sapphire Colour Spray. To create this background, simply grab a sandwich bag from your kitchen or any old piece of plastic packaging from your latest scrapbooking purchases and pick your favourite Colour Sprays to use for the background. Spray one spritz of Colour Spray onto the sandwich bag/plastic and then, using a water spray bottle, spray one spritz of water over the top of the sandwich bag also. Quickly lift the sandwich bag and smoosh the colour down onto the page in a few different sections to get the desired overall effect. Keep adding colour and water to the plastic and smooshing more colour down onto the cardstock until you are happy with the page.

To do 2 colours like I have here, simply do the lightest colour first and then go over the top with the darker colour. Such a simple background but it creates a fun watercolour look without much effort at all. Also make sure to clean your plastic thoroughly before using a different colour to avoid creating mud.

Well that is it from me today, and until next time, happy scrapping!
