My Bug-Eyed Babe by Amy Prior

Hi there Colour Blast fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today. This time sharing a step-by-step tutorial on how I created a recent scrapbook page titled "My Bug-Eyed Babe".

Step 1: Spray Rainforest  Colour Spray over a piece of mixed media quality white cardstock. 

Step 2: When the Colour Spray is dry, spread some Blush Colour Paste through your favourite stencil over-the-top.

Step 3: Paint some Blush & Sunshine  Colour Paste randomly onto a piece of wood veneer or chipboard. 

Step 4: Mix some Midnight  Colour Shimmer Dust with Water and splatter over the dried Colour Paste covered wood veneer piece. 

Step 5: Assemble various patterned papers and embellishments on the page then mount your photo. 

Step 6: Splatter some of the Midnight  Colour Shimmer Dust around the page that was mixed with water. 

The finished page is full of fun texture and shimmer without being over-the-top!

Trinket Box by Amy Prior

Hi there Colour Blast fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a fun trinket box that I decorated for my daughter's bedroom.

Here is the full tutorial on how I decorated this trinket box.

Step 1: Adhere some printed tissue paper over the outer surface of the box and lid using some Matte Medium.

Step 2: Mix some White Heavy Gesso with water and paint over all the tissue paper to dull the pattern subtly. 

Step 3: Begin painting the box using Colour Shimmer Cubes in colours Blush, Singin the Blues, Envy & Bling.

Step 4: Keep adding each of the Colour Shimmer Cube colours until you get the desired effect. Don't add too much water as you want to avoid the colours mixing together as they will turn brown.

Step 5: Scrape some Heavy White Gesso through a stencil all over the box and lid.

Step 6: Splatter some Roadbase  Colour Spray all over the outside surfaces by taking off the lid of the spray and splattering randomly with the inner straw. 

Step 7: When the box is completely dry, spray some Clear Gloss Laquer over the entire painted surface and allow to dry.

Checkout the gorgeous shimmer of these paints! They are so lush I just love them.

Captured My Girls by Amy Prior

Hi there Colour Blast fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a couple of recent mixed media scrapbook pages that I have created using lots of gorgeous Colour Blast products!

This first layout that I have created is titled "My Fav" and features a gorgeous photo of my baby girl Mia who is just about to turn 10. This photo still remains one of my all time faves of Mia!

To create the background like I have here, simply scrape some Heavy Black Gesso through your favourite stencil over a piece of black good quality smooth cardstock. I use Bazzil Cardshoppe cardstock in the colour Licorice Twist for black and Marshmallow for white.

When the Black Heavy Gesso is dry completely, spray some Colour Shimmer Sprays over the top in colours Sunshine, Rose Petal and Envy. Just spray one colour at a time, starting with the yellow, then rose petal, then envy. When spraying, spray really close to the paper to get a nice intense spot of colour and to avoid mixing with the colours next to each other.

The next layout that I have to share with you all is titled "My Girls" and features a cute photo of my girls dressed up in their Monster High costumes ready for Miss Chloe's 5th birthday party back in 2014.

To create the background for this page, I have started with a white piece of smooth mixed media cardstock. Again, I have used Bazzil Cardshoppe cardstock for this page as it handles lots of paint and wet medium perfectly!

To start the background, use a credit card and scrape some Colour Paste in colours Sunshine, Envy and Rose Petal randomly all over the background. Don't worry about covering all the white as a little white showing through is fine.

Once the scraped Colour Paste is completely dry, add some Colour Paste in colours Lipstick, Singin' the Blues, Just Blue, Apple of my Eye, Lovely Lilac and Royalty scraped through a stencil and over the top of the coloured cardstock. 

The best tip for this background is to ensure that the scraped Colour Paste from the first layer is nice and smooth without lumps. It is extremely difficult to stencil over the top of a lumpy background.

Fabulous by Amy Prior

Hi there Colour Blast fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, sharing a fun mixed media layout created using some of my fave Colour Blast products!

Here is a quick step-by-step on how I created this layout...

Step 1: Cut some strips of old book paper, then adhere onto some Bazzil Marshmallow Cardshoppe Cardstock using some Gel Medium. Be sure to cover the bookpaper with gel medium to seal as well.

Step 2: Mix some White Heavy Gesso with water to create a wash and then cover the book paper entirely with the wash. Paint the whole 12x12 cardstock with the wash also to avoid any seams where the gesso and plain cardstock meet.

Step 3: Using the tip of a palette knife, scoop tiny amounts of Peacock  Colour Shimmer Dust and sprinkle over the background paper. 

Step 4: Using a spray bottle, spray some water over the Colour Shimmer Dust to react it. Avoid spraying too much water so you get this fun mottled look. 

Step 5: Let the background dry naturally then spray small amounts of water over any piles of powder that are still clearly visible.

To finish this layout off, I have added lots of layers of gorgeous We R Memory Keepers papers underneath my photo.

Lots of gorgeous butterflies were fussy cut from the We R Memory Keepers collection called Inked Rose. 

The finishing touches on this layout included some Simple Stories Reinforcers which are so much fun to add as little decorations on a page.

I have doodled around the edges of reinforcers with a black thin sharpie to help them pop off the background a little more.

Just Me by Amy Prior

Hi there Colour Blast fans!!! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing another scrapbook page step by step featuring products from 7 Dots Studio Writer's Block Collection alongside some Colour Blast goodies.

Step 1: Rip the top and bottom sections of a lighter piece of patterned paper ready to place over the top of a darker piece of patterned paper. Set the darker piece of paper to the side ready to mount the top piece later. 

Step 2: Using a paint brush, add some Stormy Weather Colour Shimmer Spray in messy looking puddles.

Step 2(continued): Create a diamond shape with the paint brush but avoid stroking. Dab the paint brush up and down to create a more organic look. 

Step 3: Once dry, layer various 7 Dots Studio Writer's Block papers, and embellishments together with some flowers underneath the photograph.

Lots of gorgeous & Dots Studio Writer's Block embellishments finished off this layout perfectly.

Instead of using a title for this page, I have added a few of the word stickers from 7 Dots Studio as little titles everywhere.

Awesome fun by Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a fun mixed media layout featuring a photo of myself and my gorgeous friend Belinda Tandberg doing the Colour run at the Flutterby retreat in 2016.

I have a quick step-by-step tutorial for you all on how I have created this layout.

Step 1: Cut 75mm from each edge of a piece of black cardstock and then cut the centre out of a piece of 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams 12x12 patterned paper. You can skip this step if you like, however I like to cut out the centre of paper when I am using it only as a border to avoid waste. 

Step 2: Scrape some Black Heavy Gesso through a 7 Dots Studio Writer's Block stencil to create a nice diagonal pattern of stencilling over the black background piece.

 

Step 3: Paint some 7 Dots Studio chipboard pieces using some White Heavy Gesso. I use the paint brush to dab the gesso onto the chipboard to create a nice texture.

Step 4: When the Gesso is dry, spray some Tangareen Dream Colour Shimmer Spray over the background in random patches leaving enough room for other spray colours to be added. 

Step 5: When the Tangareen Dream is completely dry, spray some random patches of Colour Shimmer Spray in Envy & Deep Water over the background as well. When using hot and cold colours together, it is best to start with hot colours, dry thoroughly, then add the cool colours or vice versa. This avoids any unwanted muddy brown mixing of the colours. 

Step 6: Paint a wood veneer title with some Tangareen Dream  Colour Paste. Again I have dabbed my paint brush up and down with the paint to create lots of texture on the title. 

Step 7: Cut random rectangles of 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy Dreams patterned paper and then ink the edges of the papers, your photo and some embellishments using Black Archival ink and a blending tool. When cutting random rectangles for my layers, I always try to avoid cutting pieces that are larger in length or height than my photograph.

Step 8: When the Colour Paste & White Heavy Gesso is dry completely, add some black archival ink to the textured details by stamping the stamp pad directly onto the top of the painted pieces. 

Step 9: Layer all the pieces of paper and embellishments underneath and around the photograph to work with the shape of the stencilled background. 

There are so many gorgeous details on this layout and the shimmery goodness is so very pretty in real life. 

Some doodling around some letter stickers were the perfect finish for this layout.
