Hello CB friends,

Its a Amy L Sunday. Grab a coffee and get ready for some inspiration CB style.

Step One - This is an easy background. Water and Colour Mica Powder Polar and Watermelon. Spread this on each side. Don't mix it though.

Step 2 - Grab a feather and mix a little water with Colour Mica Powder Olive Grove, Lemon Zing and Wisteria. And do the same Colour Shimmer Dust Sunflower, Candy and Peacock. Paint it on and let dry. You will need to brush the feathers out.

Step 3- I have used a contour paint to create the dots on the feather

And this is my layout called Rainbows which I am very happy to share this layout with you.

"Sunbleached Flowers" by Melissa Struhs

Happy Friday Bloggers! As you read this post the Colour Blast team are having their first day at the Brisbane and Scrapbooking Expo. This is my first time teaching at this event and I have something very special planned for my Tutor Display. I am not going to reveal it just yet, as I am hoping that all that are attending will stop by and look for themselves. And of course, visit us at the Colour Blast stand, we would love for you to come and say hello!

Instead, I am going to show you a super quick technique that I have included on my secret art piece!

We all have flowers by the truckloads in our stash. I have huge amounts but sometimes they have been in our collections so long that the styles of them are a little out dated. Living in the tropics and the styles of images that I usually work with usually call for something slightly distressed.

Take these multi layered paper flowers, they are about to have a Colour Blast makeover. I have envisioned these looking a little sunbleached to compliment my obsession with everything white!!!

I began with Paris Colour Shimmer Dust made into a water colour with a small amount of water and flicked and splashed it over the lighter green flowers. The Paris droplets are darker and start to soak in straight away.

Next, I watered down some White Heavy Gesso until it was quite fluid and flicked it across the flowers until I was happy with the amount that ended up on the flowers. Whoops, it was everywhere else besides the blooms for awhile!

And finally, Snow White Colour Shimmer Spray spritz over the top helped with the blending of the previous products and gives them a really beautiful dewy finish.

Here's a little sneak of my sunbleached flowers on my Tutor Display piece...all will be revealed soon in the Colour Blast Creative Corner or the Colour Blast Facebook page.

"Colour time", by Amanda H

Welcome to this bright page! And my first page share for June!

It features some Colour Blast girls, as well as loads of Colour Blast products!

Here are the step by step instructions for my page:

Firstly, using White Heavy Gesso, I painted the white cardstock background, incorporating a piece of tissue paper to the page.

I glued two pieces of ornate corner chipboard to frame the piece of tissue paper on the page.

 

Then I added a coat of Gesso over the chipboard.

 

Holding your brush vertical and using a stippling motion, you can get the gesso into the edges/cracks of the chipboard pieces.

Next, I got some Colour Shimmer Dust, in Lollipop and Passion, and armed with my water spray bottle, I am ready to add some colour!

Sprinkle a small amount of each colour on the page, and activate it with a few sprays of water.

I sprayed more water as needed, and used my heat gun to dry and move the colour around the page and into the swirls of the chipboard.

I wanted to add colour to highlight the chipboard, so I used my Colour Shimmer Cube, in Royalty, to paint directly on the chipboard. 

I also loaded up my brush with colour and tapped the end of the brush to make some splatters in the Royalty. 

Similarly, I used the same technique with another Colour Shimmer Cube, this time in Punch. Painting to highlight some of the chipboard,

 And then splatters from the paintbrush.

For the next layer, I added some Colour Paste in Bling through a stencil.

I added some random stamping in black to the background.

I wanted some colour coordinated embellishments for the page, so I mixed some Colour Shimmer Dust in Lollipop with water and painted a Charms Creations music paper banner.

The decided I should paint a white rose too! (Sorry - night time photograph does not show the true hot pink colour)

I wanted to bring a touch of purple back into these embellishments, so with a wet brush, I dipped it lightly into the Colour Shimmer Dust in Passion, and added some purple to both the flower and banner. A few sprays of water ensures that the colours mix together nicely.

While everything was drying, I was adding layers of paper behind my photo (with cardstock, tulle and a doily), and I also cropped the white background so it could be mounted on the pink cardstock background.

Using Colour Spray in Roadbase and Colour Shimmer Spray in Bling, I added some splatters of black and gold to the background.

When you need more gold on a page, go for your Colour Embossing Powder in Bling!

I inked the wood veneer word in gold ink first, before using Versamark to get embossing.

I kept reheating the word and dipping back into the Colour Embossing Powder, which gave a really thick coverage of gold on the word.

At the end before I could call it finished, I again grabbed out my Colour Shimmer Cube in Royalty to again add some extra highlights in purple.

I do love the colour combination of bright pink and purple with the gold, such a bright page to remember an awesome night with these fellow Colour Blast Design Team girls.

Hello Beautiful by Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here with my latest design team project to share with you. Today I have a 12x12" layout that features the gorgeous new Colour Shimmer Cubes. (For anyone who hasn't seen these little pots of watercolour deliciousness yet, make sure you head to the store HERE and check them out!) Besides the cubes, I also used Colour Paste, Heavy White Gesso, Colour Embossing Powder and Colour Shimmer Spray in the making of this project.

Here's what I created...

Whenever I get a new product to use, I like to play around to see how it applies, blends, and performs on different surfaces. With the Colour Shimmer Cubes being a watercolour cake, I decided to reach for some watercolour paper first to take them for a spin. I used a small flat brush, which I simply dipped into a cup of water, activating the paint as I went. I used the Blush and Tangereen Dream colours as I thought they would make a pretty blend.

I was happy with the way they applied to the paper, and the way they moved around and blended when more water was added to the page. They also have a delicious shimmer (which may be a little difficult to see in my process photos, as I was using overhead light). I then set the watercolour paper aside to dry and repeated the same process on white cardstock. I added some small splatters with the brush using the two colours I had out and also in Steel; and then left it to dry as well.

I loved the way the colours looked once dry, and didn't want to waste the sheet of watercolour paper I had used to play; so I decided to stamp some flower images that I then fussy cut to use as embellishments on my page.

I wanted to add a little extra depth of colour to my background, so I reached for my Bling Colour Paste. I thought some golden highlights would work well, so I used my finger to smear some paste in random areas on my page. (Sometimes fingers make the best tools!)

Next, I turned my attention to my embellishments. I had a number of wood veneer pieces which I painted with a coat of White Heavy Gesso. I had initially planned to keep most of the pieces simply painted white, with the exception of the main title word, which I embossed using Bling Colour Embossing Powder to tie in with the gold highlights in my background.

Once my title was embossed, I felt the other pieces could do with an extra "lift" as well. I still wanted to keep them white though, so I embossed them using Snow White Colour Embossing Powder. 

After all that, it was time to put my layout together.

I decided to cut the photo of my daughter out so I could remove all the distractions in the background. I layered the photo on top of a paper doily and some frayed gauze, which helped define the focal area of my page.

I placed the stamped flowers I had fussy cut earlier around my page, and layered them with some gold thread. I adhered some of them using foam tape and curled the edges up for extra dimension.

Next, I tucked the large string heart wood veneer behind my photo, and then positioned the small wood frame around the corner of my photo.

I then added the wood veneer hearts; the paper flower on top of the string heart; and a few white paper leaves.

Next I added my title, which I also layered on top of some gold thread; a couple of small phrase stickers and some enamel dots scattered around my page.

To finish, I couldn't go past one last splatter - this time using my Bling Colour Shimmer Spray. This was the final element I needed to help tie all those gold tones together.
