Live Your Art Tags by Tracy Jackson

Morning Bee Arty fans...

Today I am sharing my monthly project - 3 tags

Before i start any project, I always pick out my paper, not only does this give me a colour scheme to go off, it also tends to give me ideas depending how much of it I have.
I had left overs from Arty Farty paper range that I couldn't bear throwing out, which gave me the idea to make tags.

After cutting out a tag shape and gluing a strip down the side and picking out a stencil called Bricked,  I then mixed in some Shimmer Dust - Velvet into some Gesso and put a layer over the stencil on 2 tags and a Shimmer Dust - Paris/Gesso mix onto the last tag.

I then set aside to dry, which didn't take that long while I gathered up what I needed for next stage.

So for Tag 1 - I picked matching flowers that were 2 different sizes. Stamped each a couple times each with Archival Ink onto watercolour paper so the black outline wouldn't run when I coloured them with Shimmer Dust - Duke
Stamp set I used for this is called Floral Delights 2. ( I actually used the flowers from this set for all 3 tags), I also stamped on the tag to cover in some spaces one of the stamps from Meridian
Got to love fussy cutting!

I repeated the process for Tag 2,  but also added the paint brushes and words from Live Your Art stamp set. Shimmer Dust colours used for these flowers are Peacock and Lollipop

Lastly Tag 3 - I stamped on background one of the stamps from Geo Grunge
Shimmer Dust colours used were Duke and Velvet
I also used for the first time in center of flowers... Shimmer Pen... OMGeeee... squeal ... this pen is so cool and leaves such a shimmer!!
..
And so, after assembling them all together, free hand drawing lines around the edges, hole punching and adding twine, I have ended up with 3 bright and fun tags

Hope you have enjoyed this and I have given you some inspiration to not throw out any leftover paper.
Happy Crafting

An Amazing Day by Michelle Henderson

Hi All!

I have a new page today for you that fits into the new challenge using cool colours - have you played along yet? It has now been extended until November 10th.

I started by using a cut file as a stencil all over a page, and then applied White Heavy Gesso through it on to another page.

I love the texture that this creates once its dry 💓

I took out 4 of my favourite Colour Shimmer Dust in Paris, Lush, Peacock and Passion, then sprayed the gessoed page very lightly with water then sprinkled a little of the powders here and there.

I touched it up here and there with a brush and the same colours that I had mixed on a messy mat. I had a little colour left over so waste not want not 😉

At this stage, I felt that it would be too much to use the full page as a background, so I cut up some leaf clusters and singles and used them as a design element.

I created shadowing under the leaves with the Water Colour Inspired collection.

The title was embossed with Colour Embossing Powder in Deep Water.

Finally I added my photos and a few bits and pieces from one of my favourite Cocoa Vanilla collections. I also used the tag 💜

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Wild & Free by Suzy Loudon

Welcome back. I hope the New Year has started off well for everyone.
Today's page is all about Colour Shimmer Dusts...those lovely little pots full of colour.

Today I used some watercolour paper. The tags and backing I used to form the background is also watercolour paper. Once stuck down I used Heavy White Gesso through a stencil.

I activated my Colour Shimmer Dusts in my watercolour palette tray. I used Paris, Peacock & Cobalt. Remember you only need a tiny amount as they are very vibrant. You can always add more if you want a brighter colour. These little pots go such a long way.

Using a big paint brush I added the activated Colour Shimmer Dust onto my page. Then quickly sprayed it with water. I dried each area with my heat gun before moving on to the next area.

I did this until my whole page was covered.

I decided to add some definition by activating my Midnight  Colour Shimmer Dust & going around all my edges. Again using a paint brush then spraying with water to make it run slightly.

I then painted my chipboard with Heavy Black Gesso.

And some other chipboard in Heavy White Gesso

For my chipboard title I generously painted with Gesso the sprinkled glitter over it while it was still wet.

I did the same thing with some chipboard feathers.

Once you are finished using your Colour Shimmer Dust. Don't tip it out. Set it aside. The water evaporates leaving behind the Dust ready to be re-activated next time.

To complete my layout I added some finishing touches with some beads, micro beads, mermaid bubbles, art stones, cheese cloth, a flower & silk.

Thanks for looking.
xxx Suzy

Vision by Michelle Henderson

Hi Colour Blast fans!

I had fun making this really quick Art Journal page, using lots of Colour Blast Australia products...I find that when I get in a rut with scrapbooking, this always fires things up again 😀

Here's a sneaky wee pic

I had just received some awesome Visible Image stamps and stencils, and I couldn't wait to use them..so I started this page with one of the stencils, along with a couple of other ones I've had for a while.

I had already pre-gessoed my journal (which is an old reference book), and used the Tim Holtz stencils along with modelling paste around the edges of my page.

Once the paste was dry, I sprayed it with water, then started dropping little bits of Colour Shimmer Dust in Sunflower, Paris, Passion, Lush, Peacock, and Cobalt. It needed a little more water sprayed and I moved the page around to make it flow. My fave patch is where the Sunflower was next to Passion 😍

Once that part was dry, I used the Visible Image stencil and Colour Paste in Dusty Charcoal on the left hand page, then wiped it, flipped it and re-did it on the right hand page.

I was almost tempted to leave it at this...

But then I got out my White Heavy Gesso and double-coated inside the eyes.

And then I used Colour Artist Ink in Calypso and Marine for the irises.

I added some stamping, and some Shimmer Cube in Bling - but that wasn't enough, so I drybrushed some Colour Paste in Bling over the highlights too - look at that sparkle!!

Finally I added a quote from Pinterest that I love, and here's the finished page 😃

Thanks for visiting - I hope I've inspired you to go have a play 😀

"When life's crazy..." by Malinda Gardner

Hi all, Mal here with a very different page to share with you this week...different because there's no photo and that's something very different for me.

What do you think?

The page started as a traditional page that was going to have a photo but all of a sudden it changed into a page with no photo. I think it was because of the background...I didn't want to hide it with a photo I wanted it to be a big part of the page; a focal point.

First up some swipes of Sunshine Colour Paste and then a spray of Singin the blues Colour Shimmer Spray over a mask

Next I decided I wanted to use my Shimmer Dusts in some way so I decided to scribble over my page and then colour in some parts with different colours.

I used Colour Shimmer Dusts in Paris, Amber, and Lollipop .

Something you may not know about the Shimmer Dusts is that you can use them in a few ways and get different shades of the same colour.
So if you add them to your messy mat or palette and then add water you get a certain colour like the red here below or you can use a water brush which is wet and then pick up some of the dust and then you get a truer colour to what's in the pot like the maroon colour on the left below.

That's pretty cool hey.

Lastly I sprayed a raw chipboard tree (no gesso needed) with the Colour Shimmer Spray in Singin the Blues again.

I don't use gesso as I like the spray to seep into the chipboard and I also like the unevenness of the spray on the chipboard

Finally some embellishments and some doodling and I feel it's done.

Feels good to do something different...

Happy scrapping...xxx Mal
