Hello and welcome back Colour Blasters, today I am going to share a beautiful, shimmery way to create a background. This background can be used for all sorts of lovely outdoorsy, feminine or love photos. It has a butterfly as the main focus but you can use this technique for any type of

shape or object.

First up using a soft lead pencil draw a shape onto your base cardstock. I drew a large butterfly over the right hand side, it was so large that one of the wings got cut off by the edge of the page....which was the look I was after.

Using some masking fluid outline the lead pencil shape, make the masking fluid outline thick and a bit messy. I dribbled some dots of the masking fluid over the cardstock. Masking fluid is a medium that paints on an off white colour and when dry turns yellow and it is able to be peeled off the cardstock leaving white space where it was. As it is used for blocking out colour or cardstock it makes a perfect partnership to most of the Colour Blast Products.

Once the masking fluid was dry I mixed some Colour Mica Powder in Cool Mint and Watermelon with a bit of water to create a shimmery watercolour paint.

 I then painted the shimmery water colour onto the cardstock in random splotches of colour.

 I just kept painting until the whole cardstock base was coated (but not the centre of the butterfly shape)

Leaving it to dry was the hard, I am an impatient person and just want to get in and add more Colour Blast products to it. Here you can see that the Watermelon Colour Mica Powder is not yet dry around the edge of the butterfly. 

 Once it was all dry (I ended up leaving it overnight) just use your finger to start the masking fluid and then peel it off the cardstock.

Once the water paint made out of the Colour Mica Powder dries it gives a beautiful subtle shimmer look to the page.

Using a black pen draw some faux stitching around the inside of the butterfly shape.

 Now the part I have been waiting for.... adding more Colour Blast Products to the layout. Here I am applying a coat of Colour Paste in Steel, through a stencil, into the white space of the butterfly.

Next using the stray from the inside of the Colour Spray in Roadbase, splatter some dribble marks across the cardstock. Leave it to dry so you do not smear the wet Colour Blast Product across your creation.

When it is dry adhere a title and photos to the layout.

As the Colour Blast Products are such high quality you only need a little bit to create a masterpiece, the medias speak for themselves and sometime extra embellishments draws the attention away from the creation. In this case less is really more!

Christmas Cards and Gift Tag by Farrel Tailor

Good Morning and happy December!!!

Today I am sharing with you all two Christmas cards and a gift tag I created. 

I was wondering what I could do that would be different and it hit me!! Why not try stamping using the Colour Blast Pastes?? 

So here is my stamped card. 

 I started off by painting Bling Colour Paste directly onto my Christmas stamp. I did water it down a little bit. 

 

Once I dried it with a heat gun, I then used Versamark to stamp my sentiment and embossed it with Singin the Blues Colour Embossing Powder.

I then inked the edges with Versamark and embossed with Lovely Lilac Colour Embossing Powder.

To finish it off I used a paint brush to paint more Colour Paste onto the stamped image. I used Envy & Lipstick, Singin the Blues. One card completed :-)

My next card was also a quick and super easy card to create. 

I had a damask stencil that I thought looked like a Christmas tree. 

So I started off by mixing Colour Shimmer Dusts Candy and Lush with water and painted them onto the card. I then added some splatters.

Once it was dry, I used part of my stencil with Envy Colour Paste. Before removing the stencil I sprinkled a small amount of Bling Colour Embossing Powder randomly and then dried.

The last steps I did was emboss the sentiment with Leather Colour Embossing Powder and doodled around the edges of the stencil with a black gel pen. I also used Bling Colour Embossing Powder for the star stamp.

So the last item I made was a gift tag also using a stamp.

This was super quick and easy and very effective.

I used a baby wipe to spread Steel Colour Paste making sure it was just thick enough to stamp through - you will have to be quick as the paste dries quite quickly.

I then stamped my Christmas tree stamp in the center of cardstock.

After drying the Colour Paste, I used Just Blue Colour Shimmer Spray to spray onto the tag and I used my finger to rub the shimmer spray into the stamped area.

And there you have it!! Two quick cards and one gift tag.

Mediums have taken over in my Scrapbooking.....

How about yours?

I work a lot with minimal embellishments and just add paper kits.

This finishes off my pages nicely letting my mediums set the scene on my page.

But like many of you I have an abundance of patterned papers.

They are clogging up my cupboards with most purchased many years ago.

So how do you blend the old with the new??

I chose to work with Steel Colour Paste.

The intensity as it dries is just what I was after to get the depth of colour.

Colour Shimmer Spray in Rose Petal also married nicely.

Starting with white cardstock I inset a smaller square with my patterned paper.

Using a stencil the Paste was applied working in from the edges creating a border.

I started first working from the corner.

and made my way around the page.

This particular stencil was actually a tree but the way its been used is more like a vine.

Stencils can be adapted if we flip them and think of other ways to use them.

Once the Paste was dry I set to work with the Colour Shimmer Spray.

Concentrating on the areas where Paste has been applied I spritzed the edges again turning

my page so I was working from the outer edge in.

As you can see its not the most fashionable paper but just wait....

Using a gel pen and freehand I created a double lined border around my inner sheet.

This was finished with a few crosses and a bow.

My bow has ended up upside down.

Don't forget to keep an eye on which way is up and not confuse that part like I did.

The frame pictured above was a die cut from a just add paper kit.

I roughly applied the Colour Paste using simply my finger and set aside to dry.

The next step was to heavily spritz the frame using the Rose Petal Colour Shimmer Spray.

This I dried with the heat gun. You can see from the image there has been some bubbling of the paste.

This is from heating the dried Paste.

It has added another element of texture to the page.

The result is quite unique and a favourite of mine.

I continued to layer my pieces and I think the old has been brought into the new.

A little black ink around the edges making it slightly heavier where my vines enter

finishes this layout off nicely.

So when you get into your next project this weekend don't look paste those old papers.

Get them out and bring them into the new.....

Anita here with you today sharing a layout and process video

Each year we have gone to the beach on Christmas 

So with this layout I kept it clean and simple I started off with my white cardstock 

Adding a bit of patterned paper behind my cardstock and machine stitching around the border

Here is my video 

Then using a kaisercraft stencil snowflake I applied 

 Colour Shimmer Dust in Peacock
to some impasto and to lighten it I added some 

Snow White Colour Paste

And here are some close ups of my layout 

   

You can see the shine from the Peacock Dust and the Snow White 

   

I made a little shaker for my layout with a transparency,glitter and sequins 

   

My colors I chose for the layout was gold, white, grey and blue 

  

I love the letter stickers with the gold lines

 Welcome back to the Colour Blast Blog. 
Today I'm sharing a male page of one of my boys.

To begin my page I smeared some white Gesso around my page with my pallet knife.

Once dry I applied Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste through a stencil.

I then used the Steel Colour Paste through another stencil.

Whilst waiting for it all to dry I mixed up some Polar Colour Mica Powder with some water. I added a small drop of liquid glue to act as a binder, mixing well.

 Instead of spraying my Colour Sprays (I used Sapphire & Rainforest), I twisted the caps off my bottles & either used a dropper or the base of the spray squirter to add colour onto my page. I also used a water spray to thin/lighten the intense colour. I added the Polar Mica mix with a paint brush.

I added some splashed in Love Colour Spray to the background.

Next I focused on my chipboard elements. For my chevrons I first sprayed them with Sapphire Colour Spray. I then mixed some of the Sapphire Spray with some Mod Podge sealer.Using a paint brush I dabbed it on in varying thickness.

Once dry I brushed on some areas (not covering the entire piece) of the remaining Polar Mica mix. 

Leaving to dry overnight so it was completely dry before I stamped using a script stamp & Stazon black ink.

A quick spray of some chipboard using Road Base Colour Spray.

To do my title I grabbed some old letters. To cover the funky polka dots I covered my letters in Stazon ink first before embossing them with Colour Embossing Powder in Dusty Charcoal.

I got this really cool bumpy watery effect on the letters. I'm not sure if it's from the Stazon under the embossing liquid or from the hot humid day we were having when I did it, or a combination of both...but I love the effect.

To liven up my arrows I glued some glitter on 2, glued some glass beads on another 2. Then dabbed some texture paste on the last.

Once dry I used the inside tube thing to drip the colour onto my embellishments. I did about 3 coats using Love, Sapphire & Road Base Colour Sprays.

I added my elements and a few others to complete my page.
