Hi Everyone.

Today was my first time playing with some of the new Colour Blast Colour Sprays. 

It was very exciting seeing the new colours and trying them out.

Today's page can be done for either gender.

To begin with I used a white crackle paste through a stencil.

Once the crackle paste was dry I sprayed using the new Colour Sprays in 

Rainforest, Lagoon and Carribean.

I alternated the colours as I sprayed blending them in together. 

I also built up layers as it dried to make the colour more intense as it slid off the white crackle.

Once I was happy with the colour and the page was dry I added a little embossing using a script stamp and Steel Colour Embossing Powder.

I then used a square stencil and applied Stormy Weather Colour Paste through it with a pallet knife.

Whilst it was still wet I dropped some silver micro beads onto the Colour Paste.

Tangareen Dream Colour Paste was applied through a X stencil to give it a little colour.

To do my title I first used Steel Colour Paste dabbing it onto my chipboard with my finger, pulling up with my finger to give it some texture. Once dry I sprayed using Lagoon and Carribean. I loved the effect but unfortunately it didn't stand out where I wanted to place it, so I lightly painted over it using white gesso, allowing some of the colour to come through. I also dropped some micro beads on whilst still wet.

I then put my page together using flairs, flowers, sprigs, leaves & string. I also added a few extra micro beads.

Hi Colour Blast Fans, Michelle here with a new Art Journal Page!

I have been playing with the new Colour Sprays that are so vibrant and gorgeous you are going to want every colour in the range!

The major difference between these sprays and the Colour Shimmer sprays is that they are much more vibrant and flat in colour, ie no shimmer.

So before I prattle on, here is the page:  

This is such a simple page to do and it started out with me just playing with the sprays to make a layered background.

 Here is what I started with, just a matter of spraying and using stencils with them, and look at that lovely colour! The colours I used are:

Colour Sprays: Carribean, Lagoon, Rainforest and a few drops of Grape (OOPS....yes had a little accident, right at the end, but had to just go with it!!).

Colour Shimmer Sprays: Bling

 

I layered  Colour Shimmer Spray in Bling to add some shine. 

The 2 products work brilliantly together.

With the background done in literally minutes I then stamped a face to the side of the page with Archival Ink.

 

 

Next I wanted to create a Mandala type of effect. The easiest way to do this is to use a round stencil and a fine marker as a starting point. I taped the stencil down to stop it moving around.

And this is what you end up with, all ready to add your own details!

 

I decided I wanted the Mandala a little bigger so I added another line with a compass...easy! 

Then I just added my doodling!

Adding all the details was very relaxing and you do not have to be able to draw to make an effective impact, this is in no way perfect, but the repetition hides al the flaws!

 

I felt like I needed a little more texture and detail for my girl, so I added some stamping and Embossing Powder in Bling. 

The page is just about complete, just needed a quote to fit the mood of the page. Then just a matter of stamping, mounting on black card and finding a space to put it!

Seriously anyone can do this page and creating a Mandala is super easy, just look through you stencil stash for a starting point!!!

Here are a few more details of the finished page (complete with accidental splashes of Grape Colour Spray!!!)

I always like to add some of my own details when I stamp a face with a combination of marker (for the scribbles) and Stabillo All Pencil that is water soluble, this makes the image your own.

Even my stamping was a little off but sometimes you just have to embrace the mistakes!

Shimmer Dust Ink Ladies by Krisy Podolak

Last month, I told you that the NEW Shimmer Dusts are awesome. So, today I am sharing another creation using these little pots of gold.  I saw YouTube tutorial some time ago about taking ink splotches and making them into people. So, I thought I would give it ago.

To start you use a large brush the more scratchy and used the better to create some texture.  I didn't have one so I just used a large round brush.  I mixed up some black powder with water to create some liquid water colour and then randomly brushed some strokes onto the page.  I kept it to one colour as this was a new technique to me so I wanted to keep it simple.

Once dry, take a black marker and draw in some people.  How ever you see them.  I then used a white marker to add some details.

They are so fun to make.  I also tried out this technique using Puffs of colour.  You will have to wait until later in the month to see this though.  In the meantime, you can watch a quick process video on my YouTube channel POPLEOPOD.

Tag Tutorial by Anguree Jansen van Rensburg

Hello everyone

It's Anguree on the blog today and I'm really excited to be sharing my first project as part of this team. 

So for my first post I created a tag to show you how easily the Colour Blast range can be used to create your own custom background as well as texture.

Spray a kraft paper tag with water.

Use a dry paintbrush to dust some Colour Shimmer Dust Sunflower  over the wet area and watch how it blends with the water.

While the tag is still wet, add Colour Shimmer Dust Candy in the same manner and add little drops of water if needed. (It will depend how dry or wet your tag is. The more water, the more and quicker the Candy colour  will blend into the yellow, the less water the less likely the colour will blend).

Add some texture by applying Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste through a stencil. Remove and clean the stencil and allow the paste to dry or dry with a heat gun.

Stamp the tag with Archival ink, using  a stamp of your choice. You may also use more than one if you choose to.

Now for the background. I created this background using Roadbase Colour Spray to test this stencil. I was not too fond of how it turned out and tossed it into the bin. However it caught my eye again, when I was looking for a background for my tag. Plain black was to stark so I figured it might be the perfect background for the tag. 

Stamp the salvaged background with Archival ink.When the ink is dry Repeat the first 2 steps by spraying the paper with water and adding  Colour Shimmer Dust Sunflower and  Colour Shimmer Dust Candy like before.

Emboss your choice of chipboard embellishments with  Dusty Charcoal Colour Embossing Powder and adhere to your tag.

Colour the word/text chipboard of choice by sponging on some Tangareen Dream Colour Paste. Excess paste around the letters can be removed carefully with a kraft knife.

Punch a hole at the top of the tag and set an eyelet into the hole. Add the remaining embellishments of choice and tie through a string of your choice.

I hope your week or weekend has been filled with crafty endeavours!!

My turn up on the Colour Blast Blog today with a masculine mixed media layout, absolutely full of colour, metallics and grungy watercolours...

I wanted to test drive the new Shimmer Dusts, really love these little pots of 'awesome', the colours I used are Navy and Midnight and can be found at Colour Blast Australia Shop.

Now if you have a Dad like mine who is extremely hard to pin down for a photo, pages about him are few and far between, so when I managed to get a photo, I wanted to scrap it straight away and because I love mixed media....well the you can see how it all unfolds below.

Step 1. Grab a pipette or a dropper and after mixing up a small amount of 'Midnight' shimmer dust with water in a palette (you only need a very small amount), drag it across your page in a cross shape, then using a water bottle lightly spritz water over the cross to disperse your colour. Do the same with the 'Navy' Shimmer Dust, add to the cross and also around the cross, spritz to move your colour around the page as per the below photo.

Step 2. While the page was wet I sprinkled salt over the wet areas and waited til it had completely dried and brushed off the salt leaving a gorgeous textured background. Also I used a small amount of 'Bling' Colour Blast Shimmer Spray, I took the top off the bottle and using a thin paintbrush grabbed the gooey stuff off the bottom of the bottle and dragged it  over the cross shape and then splattered it across my page.

Step 3. Its stamping time.... I used a kaisercraft 'clock' texture stamp and a Prima background stamp set and a black versafine ink pad. Keeping the stamping in and around the cross shape.

Step 4. Emboss your Chipboard elements in my case a lovely set of cogs and a word title from Memory Maze Lasercuts with Bling and Dusty Charcoal Colour Embossing Powder. Close up photos of the embossing below! I used a combination of both colours on some of the pieces and then just a single colour on the other, it gives a great dimension to your page while staying in your colour scheme.

Step 5. Here is a close up of the stencilling I did after my embossing. Using a great mixed media stencil from Memory Maze Lasercuts and Bling and Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste, I added a small amount of paste with a palette knife over my stencil, sometimes even combining the two together.

Once dry it is time to put your layout together, I matted my photo, added a few black tags and gold vellum, and a few scraps of paper to pop under photo to create a cluster. A bit of black thread and then tuck your embossed chipboard pieces under and around your photo along with your title and phrase.
