Hi Colour Blastians!

Michelle back again with my final post for Colour Blast 
(insert sad face).
It has been a "Blast" (pardon the pun but it had to be done!) but all good things must come to an end I am afraid, time to let others have a play! 

So sad news aside, I have created  an art journal page by just throwing stuff down! You can tell right?

Anyway here it is:

So lets get playing:

First up I had a very smashed up page in my journal (a page where I use up all my leftover paint etc, hate wasting a thing!) So I make myself use these pages as a challenge!

First step I wanted to push all the mess into the background, so gave it a coat of white Gesso then rubbed it back with a wipe to show the bits I felt I could work with.

Next I chose my colours, I wanted to keep it grey toned so I chose  Colour Shimmer Sprays in  Steel & Dusty Charcoal as well as Colour Sprays in Road Base & Indigo.

I then sprayed these colours around randomly across the page creating drips, puddles and splashes.

I knew I wanted to play with a wing stencil at some stage as the main focal point, so decided to spray through the stencil onto the background. I did not worry about getting a perfect image, just make patterns.

I then stamped with a background stamp and archival ink so it does not move when I add more liquid.

 Now to the main focal point! 

I used Colour Paste in Steel through the wing stencil.

I also scraped the leftover paste onto the edges of the page.

Now for the embellishment and quotes etc.

To make sure I get perfect images I stamp my choices on to tissue then adhere onto the page with Gel Medium. The tissue disappears into the background and the image stamped is perfect. I always use Stazon ink or equivalent for this step.

I added a few scraps of book paper to create interest on random spots on the page.

I then coloured some fibres/netting with the Colour Sprays I used earlier.

I then adhered some muslin for texture and added the dyed fibres beside the Colour Paste wing.

I felt the wing was not standing out enough so used Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust, with a wet brush and water spray to get some "drippage" going through the wing.

I then stamped a background stamp in a matching ink to the Lollipop Shimmer Dust around the page to tie in the drippage.

I also made a few embellishments with the same pink ink to add to my focal points.

Lastly I added some circle stamps to get the eye moving across the page and added the metal tag.

Then the job was done!

Definitely not my fave but it was fun to play!

Thank You & Goodbye

Hi Colour Blast Fans!

Today is a sad day for us as we say ''Goodbye" to some of our talented and valuable Design Team Members who will be departing our team at the end of Janaury 2017.  We feel very blessed to have had them come on board and promote our products in so many different platforms. These ladies have demonstrated some amazing projects on our blog and You Tube Channel, had their work in major publications and showcased our Colour Blast products at retreats and shows - we are extremely thankful to these ladies for this.

We know these talented designers will continue to amaze us all with their creations in the scrapping community and we wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors.

Friendship and Laughter by Michelle Logan

Hello and Happy New year to everyone!
I am back to share my latest LO,
 using a variety of Colour Blast products.
So here it is..... yes another masculine page!

So lets begin a step by step how I created it:

I began by using Alpha stickers to create a textured background.

Coat the entire page with Gesso, covering the letters so that you are left with a blank canvas to work with.

Choose your colour palette, I have used: Colour Mica Powder in Polar & Colour Shimmer Dust in Duke, Cobalt and Navy.

Spray the background lightly with water then add the powders starting with the lightest through to the darker colours.
Move the page to move the colour and add more water for further movement.
Soak up puddles with a baby wipe, and take off some colour where needed. I have taken some colour off the letters to make them pop a little! 

Add a darker colour and a little shimmer with Dusty Charcoal Colour Shimmer Spray.

I used a brush and the sprayer to move the colour around and add splashes.

I wanted to make the letters stand out more so I used Colour Embossing Powders randomly in various colours, and layered them to create depth.

The colours I used are: Singing the Blues, Steel and Stormy Weather.

After making a few more splashes I used grey acrylic paint and an old card to create thin stripes going down the page and over the textures.

I added some Torn pieces of printed tissue with Gel Medium.

Now time to add the photo that I mounted on layers of patterned paper from my stash.

Now for the Title, simply treated with the same Colour Embossing Powders used for the lettered background.

And the job is done!

Here are a few more detailed shots for you: 

Using alpha stickers as texture is so easy and turns out very effective. You can use up all the left over letters that you know you have in that stash!!! They do not all have to be that same font either.

"Gorgeous" LO by Michelle Logan

Hi Colour Blast fans!

I am back with a Mixed Media fun in the form of a LO featuring one of my nieces that live a long way away in the States.

I love getting their photos, it is a chance for me to get a girlie fix, not that this page is very girlie really you could do the same for a masculine page too.

So here is the page:

And now a few step by step pics to show how I created it:

I drew roughly where I wanted to place the ball flower thingies...lets call them blooms form now on.

I tore up old book paper and glued the pieces down with Gel Medium as a start to my Blooms.

 Once dry I added some Glass bead Gel to create some texture.

I then chose my colour scheme and gathered supplies....time to get splashy with colour!

I splattered a few drops of Colour Shimmer Spray in Bling first all over the page.

 I sprinkled Colour Mica Powder: Lemon Zing and Colour Shimmer Dust: Sunflower, Amber & Lollipop on to the Blooms then added water with a brush moving the colour around into a ball shape.

 I was not happy with the shapes they turned out a bit "Blobby" so I decided to use the sprayer out of the Colour Sprays:  Bubblegum as a "brush" and do some defining scratches to make the blobs look a little more organic and loose.

They ended up looking a little more like flowers, loved the scratchy bits.

Then I used the sprayer to splash more colour around the page. 

 

I did a total of 3 Blooms (have to work with odd numbers for balance).

I felt they still needed some texture so I reached for the Colour Embossing Powder in Bling adding a few layers heating as I sprinkled. 

I added some doodly lines to define the blooms with a Posca paint pen in Black.

I think I can call them done now!

Lastly I layered patterned paper around my photo, added the chipboard title that I painted black and lastly a few embossed chippy hearts done with the Bling Colour Embossing Powder to tie the composition together. 

So the page is done, what do you think?

The blooms were once again an experiment but I do love a play and I think they turned out ok!

The close ups don't really show the blissful shimmer of all the powders and the shine of the embossing powder sorry you shall just have to believe me when I say it looks fab!!

Merry Christmas Colour Blastians!
Michelle here, back with a quick and easy way to create your own Christmas Tags to brighten up the gifts under the tree...no 2 are alike!
Here is my colour scheme for this festive season, Aqua/teal, cobalt blue, mint and silver!
I always need a quick and simple way to make my gift tags as I am always a little time poor this time of year!

So this is what I came up with, I played around with a number of Colour Blast products to create them, so whatever you have already in your stash will be a success!

First, use Colour Blast Embossing powder (I used the colours Bling and Steel) to stamp an image on the tag, the heated embossing will resist the colour you are going to add to the tag.

 

If you do not have embossing powder just stamp your image with a waterproof ink ie: Archival or Stazon, it will work just as well.

Using your product of choice apply as you would a water colour paint. Use water to move the colour around till you like the look.
For these tags below I used a combination of Colour Shimmer Sprays (Envy & Bling) and Colour Sprays (Rainforest & Lagoon) on a wet tag. I sprinkled the Bling Colour Shimmer Spray last to give the tag a little contrasting shine.  

 

The next tags I used a combination of Olive Grove Colour Mica Powder and Paris & Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust added to the tag on top of the embossed image.

I put a little powder onto my palette then added water to create a water colour paint, then splashed it around the dry tag till i was happy with the result. Then I splashed the Bling Colour Shimmer Spray. 

 

Then I tried the Colour Sprays on an embossed image, I used the colour straight from the bottle, I love the vibrant colours!
The colours I used here are, Lagoon, Rainforest and Carribean. 

 

So there you have it, how super easy is that??

Simple, easy, effective and quick, what more could you ask for this time of year?

Here is what they look like on the only Christmas pressies I have so far!!!!
