Mixed Media Cards by Elisa Ablett

 

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team with my inspiration for October, a couple of mixed media cards featuring loads of your favourite Colour Blast by Bee Arty products.

Starting with a lovely bright background of 'smooshed' watercolour inks in bold colours - Slipper, Calypso and Mermaid. I spritzed water over the top once they were dry to re-activate the watercolours, this creates great 'salt' patterns in the colour. Let the background dry thoroughly and then lay your chosen stencil on top - I used 'Organised Chaos' Stencil for the first card along with 'Envy' Colour Paste and 'Directions' stencil for the second card along with 'Dusty Charcoal' Colour Paste.

Let's take a closer look at each card!

Awesome Card - Add some gold accents to your card, I used yellow sparkle embossing powder which gives a fantastic coverage for the title and also the gold accent on the die cut 'Abstract Circles' from Fiona Paltridges new collection. I also smooshed a bit of gold - Bling shimmer spray over the top of my Colour Paste to create gold accents on the stenciled background. Add some dodgy sewing for a bit of texture and you have a finished unique mixed media card.!

Brave card - After stencilling, add some shimmer by spraying Bling Shimmer Spray onto your craft mat and use a makeup sponge or your finger to rub some of the gold spray over the top of your stenciling to create gold shimmery accents. Use the yellow sparkle embossing powder on a spare piece of card and cut some triangles to add to your card. Fussy cut a few of the hanging feathers from the 'Possibility' paper (Follow your dreams collection) and colour using your watercolour inks to match your background.

'Friends' by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone, 

My turn up on the blog today with my latest inspiration for you, a bright and funky scrapbooking page.

My layout features loads of awesome Bee Arty products and also includes a few of the bright backgrounds I created during my tutorial video shown on the Colour Blast Bee Arty Facebook  recently. 

I went with a blue, teal, green and yellow colour scheme for my layout and utilised a lot of the Bee Arty Dies to create both my background and my main embellishments, those awesome colourful flowers.

Let's take a closer look at the layout!

TIP: Die cut using white watercolour cardstock and use your watercolour inks to custom colour to suit your layout.

TIP: Die cut your flowers in both black cardstock and your photo paper backgrounds and mix and match the die cut pieces to create different flowers.

TIP: If you are using a background texture stamp like a hexagon or beehive pattern (any 'open style' pattern) use a small round paintbrush and your inks to colour parts of the stamp in, this ties it into your layout

Hit your stash up for some old alphas that are laying around and stagger your title for a 'different' look.

Kind Heart/Fierce Mind By Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone, 

My turn up on the blog today with a Graffiti Grunge mixed media boy layout. 

I used black gesso for my base under my photo cluster and embellishment cluster.  

This is a great starter for a mixed media layout. Next layers are different coloured acrylic paint sponged through different stencils to create a layered grungy look. 

Once I had the grungy painted look I toned all the colours and textures down a bit with white gesso layer and also some black stripes using the side of a ruler and black paint. 

The Graffiti Grunge collection is perfect for teenage boy layouts, add a few chipboard pieces, washi tape and wire to complete your look.

Let's take a closer look at the final details:-

TIP- use border strips and torn paper across a larger photo to draw attention to your title and to tie the page together.

Make sure you use texture stamps to add those little touches to your layout!

'This is the beginning of anything you want' by Elisa Ablett

Hi Bee Arty fans,

Elisa here from the design team with my latest design team inspiration for you, a bright and fun layout featuring Tanya Froud's 365 Collection.

To create the background, I mixed a little bit of Citrus Colour Artist Ink along with a bit of Lemon Zing Mica Powder and using a distress tool, make up sponge etc smooth your coloured ink through the A4 Interwoven stencil.  I also made another light paste with the Wisteria Mica Powder and Berry Colour Artist Ink and smoothed it through the same stencil.

I also stamped onto white tissue paper or you could use deli paper instead and using a bit of water around the edges, use small sections and glue them using a simple old glue stick to the background. 

Once they are dry, use a paint brush to add a bit of colour to the stamped images. 

Here are some close ups for the finer details - 

Fussy cut your triangles and bees from the Cut and Colour Sheet from the Kit and colour the triangles using markers or you could use a fine paint brush to colour the triangles with Colour Artist Inks in Citrus and Berry.

Mat your photos in white cardstock and then again in 'Direction' paper and fussy cut your two quotes from the 'Resolutions' paper.

Draw black circles using a fine black marker by tracing around circle templates, move the templates slightly each time you trace around them to create scribbled circles.
