Hi everyone. Today I have a layout using the Colour Blast Graffiti Grunge Collection. Such a great collection so get your hands on it quick.

To begin my layout I tore the edges of my paper. I used "Fierce" from the Graffiti Grunge Collection -February Release. I then stuck it down onto black card.

I cut up the "Choose"  paper from the Graffiti Grunge Collection & then inked the edges. I didn't end up using all the pieces.

Using the Direct Links Die I cut it out with chipboard before embossing it with Dusty Charcoal Colour Embossing Powder. I later cut off the left chains & arrow as they would be covered by my photo & used it elsewhere on the page.

Using the Linked In Die I cut it out with chipboard before embossing with Steel  Colour Embossing Powder. I cut the big piece into various pieces later when assembling my page.

I had some barbed wire chipboard which I embossed with Stormy Weather then whilst still not completely set I lightly sprinkled with Singin' The Blues Colour Embossing Powder.

My chipboard title I double embossed with Just Blue  Embossing Powder. Before it was set I stamped it with a stamp. I rubbed some Dorland's Wax onto the stamp first so the embossing powder wouldn't stick to it.

I had assembled my page but wasn't happy. I felt it needed a bit more colour. So I used Just Blue Colour Paste using a section of the Time Magic Stencil from the Limited Edition Collection.

After assembling everything I covered my photo & using watered down Heavy Black Gesso I splattered around my page.

First Santa Photo- Chrissi M

Hello Lovelies! 

I hope you all had a great Christmas, and Santa was good to you.

Today I wanted to do something nice and simple. I've noticed, I rarely use my mists the way they were originally intended lol. I cant even remember the last time I actually just sprayed mist through a stencil. So i wanted to show you that you can use them in a simple way, and get a fantastic background.

I'm scrapping a picture of my niece's first Santa photo. She surprised us all and absolutely loved visiting Santa. We honestly thought she would hate the experience, but she laughed the whole time. So I'm scrapping this for her album, which is an 8.5 x 11. I decided to use 3x4 photo for this layout. I love the size for the smaller layouts.

I've mentioned before, my preferred Christmas colours are red and gold, so for this layout I used the Love colour spray, and Bling Colour Shimmer Spray. Perfect for Christmas.

I used the  Large That Way stencil from the August release. I wanted a staggered sprinkling of stars across my layout, so I made sure to mask off my layout to avoid over spray. I used the Love colour spray for this.

Then for some Gold- Bling Colour Shimmer Spray splats for that perfect touch of gold. Very christmassy. I find it almost impossible to get a picture that shows you just how shimmery this looks, unless you can get some natural light to reflect on them.

And that was it for my background. Nice and simple, but a very striking look. Then it was time to add my photo, a title and some small embellishments. I stayed with the red and gold colour scheme throughout, and kept the embellishing very simple.

A close up of my layers behind my photo, and so you can see just how cute my baby niece is lol.

So I hope you liked my layout, and can see just how easy it is to use mixed media products on a layout.

Hi there. So happy you're joining me today for some Colour Blast love.

My page started with a little Colour Shimmer Dust in Midnight.  I've mixed this in with a bit of water and washed it across my page.  I also did a few splatters with the leftover mix.

Once this has dried I've taken some circle templates (bottle lids) and used these to stamp with some Black Heavy Gesso and White Heavy Gesso.

I have mixed water and Colour Shimmer Dust Paris and water coloured this onto the parts of the circles that are on the white card stock.

The circles on the midnight background have then been coloured with the Paris mix.  I let each one sit for a while and then using some paper towel, lifted the remaining colour. 

This has left a nice shimmery dark teal shade on the background.

You have to keep using clean sections of paper towel.  Otherwise you just end up transferring the colour instead of lifting it.

I've then used some paste with Colour Blast Stencil, That Way by Michelle Grant.

Popped on some messy journaling.

Added some cotton, gems and a title.

Hello Lovely's!

So I thought, being today is Oct 31st, I'd share a Halloween Layout with you. Now in Aus, Halloween isn't a big thing in a lot of areas, but we are lucky in our estate. Lots of costumes and lots of trick or treating in a safe place. Im lucky, when I noticed the date of my next post, I had just taken this awesome photo of my boys. There was a photo setup at our local shopping center and they couldn't wait to have their picture taken. So this is literally the most RECENT picture I have documented lol.

So I printed my photo, and got out my card stock. I had originally intended to just use white card stock, but I didn't want this layout to be like all my other mixed media layouts. I'm trying to mix up my mixed media lol. So I decided to use black and have the white as a focal point/mat behind my photo- with lots of Colour Blast Artist Inks. The bright Artist inks would pop beautifully off the black.

The colours I'm using are, Barley, Berry, Sunburnt and Soot. Quite halloweeny I think. I'm also starting with a wet page- wet on wet helps it to move freely and bleed together. So I have spritzed my page with water and then added drops my of colours straight to the page. I started with Barley and Sunburnt first.

After adding my colours, I spritzed with more water and than just moved my page around to move the ink. It gives a very free flowing, watercolour type of look. I kept adding more colour untill I was happy with the saturation.

Then it was time to add some of my darker colours. I added Soot Colour Artist Ink to my border- again, making sure I had some water down first so it would bleed and flow, and then to help the Soot blend into the Barley and Sunburnt, I added a few small spots of Berry to act as a transitional colour. Then I used the drooper from the Soot Artist Ink to throw some splatters on the page.

This is where my page took a turn, that at first I was not happy with. You may have heard me say that all art journal pieces go through a "Hot Mess" stage. A stage where it looks like, a hot mess lol. I felt that this layout did the same thing. The more I added, the more  I was unhappy lol. So I walked away and left it for the night, and came back to it this morning. When I came back to it, I was alot happier with it, and it just flowed together. It was a lot rougher, and 'Hot Messy' than I originally was going for, but than I realised it was a Halloween layout, and I could totally work with Hot Mess.

I wanted to add some texture to my background, so I got out my Colour Blast Colour Paste in Dusty Charcoal and one of the fabulous Colour Blast Stencils. This one came in my August Colour Blast Kit Club Kit. This is the A4 size 'That Way' Stencil designed by the lovely Michelle Grant exclusively for Colour Blast, and is available in the Colour Blast Store.

I'm using the Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste to add some stars to my background. I like that it is a subtle pop of texture, as you can see on the final piece, they aren't overly noticeable in the Charcoal colour. Take note, the colour of these pastes in the tub IS NOT the colour they will dry. I highly recommend swatching these out before using them. The colours are so vibrant and shimmery when dry and you will be surprised by the difference. 

To  finish off my layout, I matted my photo on some pattern paper from a Halloween collection, added cheesecloth behind it to add to the texture and feel of the layout, than added a few bits and pieces around. My background was my main focus for this page, and what I wanted to stand out the most, so my embellishing was pretty minimal. In the end, despite not liking where it was going to begin with, i love how this turned out. I feel like my background really did turn out perfect for this layout.

Hello Lovelies!!!!

Chrissi back with a new 12x12 layout using an awesome stencil designed by the lovely Michelle Grant and the awesome Colour Blast Colour Pastes. 

Using a pic of my niece and I, I've decided to let my girlie side out to play-with a house full of boys, its nice to do a girlie layout now and then, but of course, I ALWAYS have to have my mixed media in there.

I started with my background. I applied my Colour Blast Colour Spray in Bubblegum to some plastic and smooshed it onto my backround to start with. Realising I wanted a much more deeper colour, I then sprayed puddles of Colour Spray straight onto the paper, then dried it with my heat gun- I'm not a paitent artist.

Now it was time to play with my Michelle Grant Flight of Fancy Butterfly Stencil. I wanted this butterfly to be the main focus of my background. To do this, I used it twice side by side, to make a larger, full winged butterfly. It was really easy to achieve this. I applied my Colour Blast Colour Paste in Just Blue, through the stencil, then dried it. Then I flipped the stencil over, lined it up with the already stenciled image, masked off the areas I didn't want my paste to go, with washi tape, and applied the paste again. I just love how it worked out.

So then to cover up my smudging in the middle of my image, I decided to add some more Colour Blast Colour Spray in Bubblegum and Indigo to the middle of my butterfly. This worked for 2 things; it covered up my terrible stenciling lol, and also gave my butterfly some depth and colour variation. I have to admit, it was a great fix.

Now it was time to start putting my layout together. I decided to use some cheese cloth to mat my photo, but I wanted to colour it. So I used some more Indigo Colour Blast Colour Spray to dye it and add some more purple to my layout.

And this is where my layout stayed for about a month. I wasn't overly thrilled with it at the time, and I just couldn't figure out where I wanted to go with it.

I finally got the layout out again and decided to start working on it again. Whilst looking at it, I decided the background was too flat, so I wanted to add some more colour to it. I got out my new Violet Colour Blast Colour Spray and painted on the colour with a paint brush. I made sure to apply a light spray of water to my page first so the colour would blend and flow into the pink.

I was starting to feel happy with the layout after this, but I wanted to add something more to the background. So I got out a solid butterfly stencil I had and used some of my Rose Petal and Just Blue Colour Blast Colour Paste to add these to random areason my background. I love how this little detail really made the layout pop.

After adding a title using some thicker words, I called it done. I really wanted that big butterfly the be the main focal point of the page, and didn't want to over embellish and take away from that. I just really love how that butterfly turned out lol.
