Together With you by Tracey Campbell

Greetings and salutations Arty Bees, it is my turn on the blog today and I wanted to try my hand at the monthly Mood Board. I thought that it would be a good challenge as it is certainly not my unusual colour combination that I would put together.

So this is what the May Mood Board looks like; 

The first thing I did was riffle through my Colour Blast by Bee Arty papers to see what I had that would suit. I found some left over pieces of Hope from the Grateful Hearts Collection, Luca from the Love and Grace Collection, Paradise from Life's A Beach and Ideas from the Arty Farty Collection that I thought fitted the colour palette of the Mood Board. Next was looking at the mixed media and choosing Colour Sprays in Sunshine, Tangerine Dream, Punch, Bubblegum and Lagoon. Colour Shimmer Dust in Midnight. Colour Paste in Punch (I didn't end up using the Colour Paste). Citrus in the Artist Inks.

As I only had a few pieces to work with I decided to create my own background to match, so I had a play with the mixed media to see if I could recreate the beach. I started by using Heavy White Gesso to coat a piece of 12x12 cardstock. I knew I would probably layer up a few different mixed media elements so I wanted a good base to work on. Once the Heavy White Gesso was dry I sprinkling some of the Midnight Shimmer Dust across the top of the page. 

Usually I activate the Shimmer Dust with water but as I wanted the dark blue (Peacock) that fades into a lighter shade of the blue (Peacock) I decided to activate it with Lagoon Colour Spray. I actually did this while I had the cardstock on an angle so that the liquid would blend and run down the page.  

Here is how the Midnight Shimmer Dust and the Lagoon Colour Spray turned out. Put aside to dry.

Now for the Blush and Peach Nectar, I didn't quiet have the right colours so I decided to have a bit of a play to mix my own. In a little mister bottle I mixed some Heavy White Gesso with a bit of water to thin it down and then added tiny amounts of Tangerine Dream and Punch Colour Spray together to create a light Blush colour. In another mister bottle I put in a touch of Bubblegum Colour Spray, a drop of Citrus Colour Artist Ink with the watered down Gesso for a Peach Nectar colour. It did take awhile to get the colours right, I just kept adding a tiny amount of colour at a time and spraying onto a scrap of cardstock until I got it right.

I then sprayed the Blush and Peach Nectar colours onto the cardstock with the Peacock blues on it. If I did this again I would do the Blush and Peach Nectar colours first then the Peacock as it kept reactivating when I sprayed it. But I am happy with how it turned out. 

While the background was drying I used the Desire Metal Die to cut out two images from Hope (Grateful Hearts Collection) and six images of vines from the Metal Die set String Leaves using the blue woodgrain pattern from Paradise (Life's A Beach Collection).

I cut the patterned papers into various sized rectangles and layered them to create a large mat for my photo. 

Once happy with the layering I adhered it to the background and added the die cut images around the photo, see the photo below for the positioning. 

Using the Metal Dies 365 Alphas I cut out the main word for my title from some yellow patterned paper. Which I glued on the left hand side of my layout, I did  add a few other letters from some foam Thickers.

I finished off the layout with some peach and peacock paper flowers then doodling and splattering with a white paint pen.

Here is the final layout, it is a bit different than my normal work, but I love how it has turned out and think that it is a good representation of the May Mood Board.

Alpha Metal Die Cuts Two Ways by Tracey Campbell

Hello everyone, Tracey Campbell here with you today. Have you noticed the new trend of slimline cards? Everywhere I look on line I see them at the moment so I decided to give it a go and try my hand at creating some, so here I am sharing two cards I created using the 365 Alphas Metal Dies.

Slimline describes the look of the cards, they can be horizontally long and skinny or vertically tall and thin. I have created these cards 8.8 x 21.5 cm on the horizontal. I am also going to use the 235 Alphas Metal Dies two different ways, these alphas dies are versatile so that you get bang for your buck and you will never be held back as you can create any greeting you like as you have every letter of the alphabet.

Many Thanks

For the Many Thanks card I cut a 16.16 x 21.5 cm rectangle from some white cardstock and folded it in half. I have used the papers from the Grateful Heart Collection for the card. Next  I fussy cut the doily from the Faith paper and the words Thankful and Blessed from the Family Paper. 

Using the 365 metal dies I cut the letters "Many Thanks" from the Together paper. For this card I am using the letters cut from the paper and in the next card I will use a negative cut.

I found when I placed the "Many Thanks" on top of the fussy cut doily they didn't stand out as much as I like grabbed some Coffee Colour Spray and inked the edges with the straw. I was very careful to not apply too much and had a piece of paper towel handy to wipe off any excess.

With the fold of the card at the top, layer the fussy cut doily on the card so with the words Thankful and Grateful tucked under the edges. Adhere the die cut letters over the top of the doily to form the words "Many Thanks" and decorate with a few leaves and sequins. Finish off with a hand drawn boards and a few small drawn dots around the sequin clusters. 

You Colour My World

For my second card I have used the papers from the Arty Farty Collection and cut a 16.16 x 21.5 cm rectangle from some white cardstock and folded it in half, a handful of colourful sequins will help to finish off the card.

Next I  cut the words "You and World" from the cardstock, making sure that the fold was at the top. I wanted to sue the negative word for my card so I was careful to place it exactly where I wanted it positioned on the card. By negative I mean the image that is created after you cut out the letters, I now have the word "Colour" to use on another project. 

To finish my card I backed the negative "Colour" word with coloured sequins by adhering them on to a strip of cardstock and sticking it to the inside of the card. Using the words "You" and "World" from the cut-a-part of the Transform paper I placed strips across the top and bottom of the card and finished off with some aqua small letter stickers to form the word "my". 

I hope that I have inspired you to use the 365 Alpha Dies, they really are a versatile die that allows you to have two completely different ways of using them. Either use the negative cut out of your project or cut the letters to put on your project. With such a fun and funky font they are great to have on hand.

When in Doubt by Tracey Campbell

Hello Bee Arty Fans, it is my turn on the blog today and I am excited to share my latest layout with you where I use bits and pieces of various Bee Arty collections to create a 12x12 page. I must admit I love to mix and match collections from Bee Arty as they all seem to go so well together and it uses up my stash.

    First up I grabbed the Heavy White Gesso and the Devotion stencil to create a background on white card stock. I spread the Heavy White Gesso through the stencil that was positioned on a cardstock like a diamond. 

After the Gesso was dry I used a pipette  to drop splats of Royalty Colour Shimmer Spray over the floral image. I made sure that I only dropped the splats down the right and along the bottom of the cardstock. 

While the Royalty Colour Shimmer Spray was still wet I used a piece of plastic to spread the splatters out wider. This is done by simply placing the plastics over the wet splats and spreading it with your fingers. 

Next I added contracting splats of Colour with the pipette and by flicking the straw from the top of the spray across the page. For the contrast in colour I used Rose Petal Colour Shimmer Spray and Sapphire Colour Spray. 

Fussy cut 7 small and medium circles from the Collection paper in the Fearless, Brave and Free Collection.

Using the String Wreath and Seeker metal dies cut one image from some white card stock. Make a shaker box from the String Wreath die cut. This is done by cutting a insert of the vellum and adhering it to the center of the String Wreath. Place thin 3 Dimensional Tape around the inner edge of the String Wreath and fill with glitter and small sprinkle shapes. Adhere a backing of white cardstock. 

Using a paint brush paint the Seeker die cut with the Sapphire Colour Spray and the Royalty Colour Shimmer Spray. Allow the colours to blend together  to create a water paint look. 

Build the background using the product strips from Arty Farty, Trendsetter and Fearless Brave & Free collections to build up a crosshatch in the bottom right hand corner of the cardstock. Adhere the shaker box to the page with some white glue.

With 3 Dimensional tape adhere the photo to the background and stick the Seeker die cut along the bottom of the photo. 

Finish off the layout with some large gems and a title from the Trendsetter Sparkle Paper. 

Well I hope I have inspired you to use a mix and match of collections and to not just discard those cut off product strips, save them for a quick and easy layout.

Just Like My Mum - With Karyn Schultz!

   Hi Bee Arty Lovelies!

It's Karyn here and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using lots of amazing products from Bee Arty.  

 

  

 I started with a sheet of Courage Paper from the Arty Farty Collection. I'm really enjoying exploring some of the older Bee Arty/Colour Blast collections, and I'm even finding I am ordering more :)

I used my Silhouette Cameo to create and cut a title on the Courage Paper which I backed with some 350gsm white cardstock.

 

 

 

 Next I selected some Colour Shimmer Dusts to coordinate with the paper. I make the selection by painting a range of colours on some white cardstock and then selecting a few that I like. I chose Velvet, Paris and Duke.

 

 

 I mixed Velvet, Paris and Duke Colour Shimmer Dusts each separately with heavy gloss gel to use with a stencil. 

 

 

Then I applied through the Circulate stencil across the page.

Here is my finished page.

 

 

 Here are some close ups. I've matted my photo on some Ideas Paper, book paper, and paper doilies. I've added some diecuts created using the Imagine metal die, some paper flowers, and words cut from the the Mantras paper from the the Untangle Collection.

"Happiness" by Anita Enright

 Welcome Back Everyone

 For my share today I thought I would share with you another layout that I completed using the Fearless Brave and Free, Three Six Five and Arty Farty collections along with Artist Inks, Shimmer sprays, Shimmer Dusts and Embossing Powders.

For my page I used the MUSE patterned paper from the Arty Farty collection designed by the super talented Michelle Grant. Using the Arches A5 stencil and some matching distress inks I applied colour through the stencil to the patterned paper.  I added some 'splats' to the page using a blue shimmer spray. From one of the collection I used a white Hexagon die cut and after making a mix of Duke Shimmer Dust and water, coloured the white die cut.  

 I created a colourful piece of smooth white cardstock using Artist Inks in Lime, Marine, Mermaid and Calypso.

I then used this piece of cardstock and die cut the FRAME metal die from the Fearless Brave and Free collection and also the  GEO DIRECTION metal die from the Three Six Five collection designed by the amazing Tania Froud. 

The GEO DIRECTION die cut was cut in half and applied to the back of the mounted photo, as was the hexagon die cut that was coloured earlier.  The FRAME die cut was glued on top of the photo.

 

Wording on the page came from the FREE word sheet from the Fearless Brave and Free range designed by mega designer Fiona Paltridge.

I heat embossed the happiness chipboard word with Apple of My Eye Embossing Powder.

 

 

Before layering all the pieces down I grabbed some washie tape in matching colours and designs and applied where the photo was being applied.

 

To finish the page I used a Charms Creation tab, yellow twine and different enamel dots, arrows and triangles.

Artist Ink Rainbow Art Jounal Page by Julie Schinkel

 Hi everyone, today I'm sharing a bright and cheery rainbow art journal page using Colour Blast Artist Inks and a stencil and stamp set from the Arty Farty Collection by Michelle Grant. With the world the way it is at the moment, we can all use a little extra colour to brighten our days.

Swipe some Artist Inks onto a scrap piece of plastic and add a few drops of water to dilute. Smoosh onto the page. Repeat each step with every colour overlapping as you go. The order of colours used is: Citrus, Cider, Sunburnt, Cranberry, Slipper, Berry, Marine, Mermaid, Glass, Lime. I repeated the process without diluting the Artist Inks to give a little more depth and dimension to the colours.

When the page is dry, stencil the paint brushes and "Live Life in Full Colour" quote using the Beautiful Mess stencil and black archival ink as shown. 

 

Random stamp the paint brushes and "doodle" stamp from the Live Your Art stamp set and black archival ink. Stencil random paint blotches as shown. I've traced over the quote, paint brushes and stencils with a white paint pen, then scribbled over the doodles with a black pen.

To finish, outline the whole page using a black pen or ink to frame the page.

Note: I haven't used any gesso on my page as I wanted the ink to "grip" onto the paper. You can of course gesso your page first but if you're using white gesso it will dilute the intensity of the artist inks.
