Reasons to be Happy Art Journal Page by Farrel Tailor

Hello Lovely Colour Blast Fans, I'm back today to share with you one of my art journal pages I created using the divine Colour Shimmer Dusts and Colour Sprays.

I love the bright bold colours of the colour sprays but for this project, I wanted to tone them down a little so I used the products like water colour paints. So sit back and relax with your morning coffee and let me share with you the process in creating this page.

I started off by putting baking paper behind my page and placed masking tape in the join of my journal to stop any run from the sprays seeping through to other pages.

I then used a stencil and modelling paste in the top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner of the page.

Once dried, I placed Carribean and Bubblegum colour sprays into my palette with a small amount of water. I also did the same with Sunflower and Lush shimmer dusts.

I started with Carribean colour spray first and spritzed it with water. I wanted the sprays and dust to mingle together which is why I sprayed water to the colours.

Next I used Bubblegum colour spray and let the colour run into Carribean so that I got a shade a purple.

I did a quick dry and then splattered some Sunflower shimmer dust and again sprayed with water. I used the same technique with Lush shimmer dust.

I kept building the layers of colour until I was happy.

I then added some stenciling with inks and highlighted the flowers with Distress Crayons and blended the crayon in with my aqua brush.

Here I stamped with a script stamp and archival black ink randomly onto the page.

I used a sticker strip for my quote and traced around the edges with my Distress Marker Black Soot.

Snow Day by Danielle Vertigan

Its been chilly down in Melbourne.

So I decided to mix some Spring Brights and a Winter Snap Shot that needed colour!

I started with some of my favourites!

Bling Colour Paste

and

Colour Shimmer in

Paris and Lollipop.

First things First.......

I picked a flowering Stencil and got to it using my Bling Colour Paste.

The intensity of the gold is Amazing

(A must have for any Colour Blast Collection)

Normally I do a lot of these free style and decided to take a more controlled  approach this time around.

Once the texture paste was dry I added water to two sections of my paint palette.  In one of these I added the shimmer colour Lollipop using a spatula. You will need to give this a good mix with the a paint brush. I began adding the watercolour to my layout in the areas I wanted it to feature. Tilting slightly to create drips in the desired areas.

Once I had used all the colour I then mixed my brush into the second water hole. This gave me a diluted colour and enabled me to create another layer of colour. Once I had used up all the second well I flicked my brush to create splatters.

Then repeated this process using Paris.

I was careful to get only minimal overlap in colours.

I wanted to keep them bright.

Using a mixture of the Doily, Washi Tape and Punchinella I was able to add some more texture and this framed the photo perfectly.

You can see how Crisp the splats are in the pics both above and below. I think they give a really nice effect creating there own little feature.

A mix of embellishments finished this off beautifully.

Layered with some twine, my "love" punch and of coarse a Funky Flair!

I'm very grateful for the colour choice when buying her suit!

Its allowed me to put together a really fun layout....

Spring can include our winter brights after all

Embossing Powder fun with Anita Bownds

Hi everyone,

Anita here with you today sharing a few little basic things you can emboss and one of my favourites is embossing die cuts so I hope this inspires you to have some fun with the Colour Embossing Powders

Here are a few things I've embossed to show you how lovely the embossing powders are

I embossed the butterfly diecut with Tangereen Dream 

and glued it to silhouette of a butterfly to give it dimension 

And used the Sunshine  Colour Embossing Powder on the pen nib chipboard 

The embossing powder is thick and you can crease it.

 if you have embossed something you can bend it like a leaf and the heated embossing doesn't crack

And has a beautiful shine to it

Hi everyone, I'm back again with another page featuring the wonderful Colour Blast range.

To begin with I stuck my background papers on card and mapped out where my photos will go.

I then stuck some lace down.

I then spread some Colour Paste in Snow White through a couple of stencils.

It's really hard to see so here's a close up 

I then added colour using the Colour Sprays in Lagoon, Carribean and Rainforest. I alternated sprays and built up colour as each bit dried until I was happy.

I forgot to take a pic but before I sprayed I glued big globs of Diamond Dust. As I added the spray colours these soaked in the colour.

I then added dark shading using Road Base Colour Spray.

I added some random stamping using a flourish stamp.

Then using a script stencil applied some Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste.

 Whilst the paste dried I sprayed some flowers using Colour Sprays in Grape, Lagoon & Carribean. I also added extra water to lighten & used a paint brush to paint the flowers.

I didn't end up using all the flowers (but that left more to use later). I added them along with some more lace & string. I also added some wood veneers leaving them plain as I thought the colour was perfect. 

I also added some more Diamond Dust

Popped my photos in and all finished.
