"My Girl" layout + process video by Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team project with you. This mixed media scrapbook page was created using Colour Shimmer Sprays; Colour Paste; Colour Artist Inks and Colour Spray; and features a recent photo of my daughter I captured at the local park.

To create my page I started by applying both Blush and Tangerine Dream Colour Shimmer Sprays to my cardstock using a brush.

I then applied Snow White Colour Paste using a palette knife and a stencil, to add some subtle texture to the background. Once applied, I dried it off with a heat gun - it is at this point the paste comes to life, and the true colour and shimmer of the product is revealed.

With the base for my background complete, I then moved onto my papery layers. I used some scrap pieces of patterned paper from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio 'Life is Beautiful' collection, which I layered together to form a photo mat, then secured the stack with staples.

I then added the little stack to my page (again securing it with staples), before adding some frayed gauze and then my photo on top. 

The floral embellishments I used were designed by Wilna Furstenberg. I simply printed them out on some smooth white cardstock, then fussy cut them with scissors. I added the floral pieces using foam tape, and placed them so that they would frame the photo.

I then added the remainder of my embellishments - two sweet little acetate birds; as well as Cocoa Vanilla Studio resin flowers, flair button and enamel dots.

Next, it was time to add a little more colour to the page to help bring it all together. I used Citrus and Cider Colour Artist Inks to add some fine splatters using a small stiff brush.

I then repeated the process using Indigo Colour Spray before adding some small phrase stickers and my title (also a printable from Wilna Furstenberg).

Today I'm sharing just a few members of my amazing team mates that get up on stage and still perform at a top level in Calisthenics Masters division 1.  This image was taken at the Pan Pacific Master Games. I'm not a chronological scrapbooker I go where I'm inspired and this layout was just right.

I wanted the background to be all about the raw product.

No stencil, No stamping just enjoying the Colour Paste

for the gorgeous product it is...

To get started I got out

Black Cardstock, 12x12 sheet of chipboard.



 Colour Paste

in Sunshine, Tangerine Dream, Snow and Bling.

Colour Shimmer Spray

in Sunshine and Tangerine Dream.

Firstly I adhered the Cardstock to the Chipboard sheet.

 Starting with the Sunshine Colour Paste I applied it directly to my page in smears using a spatula tool.

Once it had dried I repeated the process using Tangerine Dream.

I prefer the results of allowing it to dry naturally but you can hit it with a heat gun if you need to speed it up.

 

To apply the Snow White Colour Paste I wanted a thinner line.

so I used a straw.

I wiped it on using the end of the straw and then went back through it scribbling the lines into the paste.

The result was something a little quirky and I'm really happy with it.

At this stage I decided to add a section in the top right hand corner.

The Colour Shimmer Spray was added using Sunshine first.

I spritzed sections around where it lapped the Colour Paste.

I then repeated this using the Shimmer Spray in Tangerine Dream.

Once I had allowed my final layer to dry I used the straw again and added a few touches of bling the same way I had added the Snow White. It was just what the background need and now I

was ready to added my photo and embellish.

I used my white gel pen to add my journal details around the edge of my cardstock to create a border.

Its a great way to add details.

The Shimmer Spray on the black is as expected A-mazing.

It stands out as a real feature.



The layers of Colour Paste blend and work really well together.



 I'm also really happy with the scribble detail in the Snow White.

The page came together just as I had imagined....

Breathtaking Landscape by Danielle Vertigan

We have been lucky enough to enjoy some amazing landscapes in this beautiful country of ours.

My family and I headed up north through Central Australia I know I have shared the motorbike side with you but Know its time to share the sights!!!

Breathtaking is the only word I have to describe our experience.

Standley Chasm is featured in our image here and I really felt that

Tangerine Dream was the perfect colour to feature and really pull out the rich colour in these mesmerising cliff faces.



So first up I started with a patterned paper.

Not usually my style but I loved the base pattern.

I chose the Just Blue  Colour Paste

which I smeared on using my applicator.

I then spritzed some areas around the edge of my Colour Paste using

Tangerine Dream  Colour Shimmer Spray

This was followed with some splatter and dabbing using the stalk.

I allowed for dry time, then selected a stencil

I applied this through the centre of my layout framing the inner section of my Colour Paste lapping slightly at the bottom.

Its now time to add some pools of colour to create my drips.

My first layer was done using

Sapphire  Colour Spray

and then to add to the pools I used

Just Blue Colour  Shimmer Spray

I lifted this slightly to create the drips and when satisfied I repeated this on the opposite side.

Followed by a top up of Tangerine Dream dabs using my stalk.

Once dry I placed my photo over my layout and marked it with a pencil to use as my guide.

I smeared a final layer of Tangerine Dream Colour Paste

This is being set as my photo matt and layered thinly

over my stencilling so the

pattern comes through to add another texture

To finish the layout I matted with a stack of patterned papers a few embellishments where used but I was mindful of keeping this one simple.

A bit of details where added using a black gel pen and a few touches of stamping finished it off.

A real favourite is how the sprays has defined the stencilling

The drips make there own statement reaching out from

under the photo.

What a match for my sons hat!

The shimmer as always speaks for itself.

Good Morning Colour Blast Family

I've been on a bit of a road trip enjoying this vast country.

There are certainly some amazing landscapes to see in the Northern Territory.

Today I'm sharing with you the reason we were there.

The Finke Desert Race.

To get this layout started it was all about the colour.

Colour Shimmer Spray

Sunshine and Tangerine Dream

I started with the Colour Shimmer Spray in Sunshine and poured it directly onto the layout.

Tilting the layout I spread it across the page and then used the stalk to drag my pools of colour

This was to create the drips.

I then repeated the same process using the Tangerine Dream.

You can see from the image below how the drips can be as much or as little as you like.



I continued this same process adding layers of colour and blending them together in areas.



To increase the intensity of colour I add the

Colour Spray in Sunset

I used the stalk as my applicator.



Some small drips also fell and where a nice addition

I left the extra colour to pool and not spread.

I set this to the side and allowed to dry naturally.

Every so often I went back to it tilting the page and spreading a little more colour.

Once it was dry I selected 2 stencil patterns to work with using the

Colour Paste in Sunshine and Tangerine Dream.

I worked with Tangerine Dream first, once dry I layered my second stencil using Sunshine. Making sure to lap it with the

previous stencil.



Using Stazon Ink I stamped a pebble pattern around the photo area of my layout.







I embellished keeping it simple using the wire.

I formed a circle by wrapping it around a vase and then stapling it directly to my page.

The title has worked well here with the scrabble tiles.



My last step was to mark a track with the Start location, Fuel Stops and 1/2 way stopping point featured.

I think having something masculine can sometimes be tricky but pulling from the elements

can be a fabulous way to draw inspiration for your layout
