 Happy Friday Everyone! Today I want to share with you another layout I created at the Bee Arty Retreat using a mix of different Bee Arty products from different collections...

I started off using a Spread Your Wings paper as my base, and using modelling paste I have used the NEW Destination Anywhere Pavement A4 Stencil to create texture to my background. Once dried with a heat gun, I have used Leather Mica Powder mixed in water to colour the "brickwork" of the stencil.

I also coloured the scalloped heart Chipboard using the same Leather Mica Powder.

I also coloured the String Wreath Metal Die {cut from 350gsm White Cardstock} and the "family" chipboard word using Olive Sparkle Embossing Powder {found in the Sweet Stuff Embossing Bundle} 

 The Sweet Floral Metal Die I coloured with Olive Grove Mica Powder for the leaves & Punch Mica Powder for the flowers.

I matted my photos using the back of the Grateful Heart Word Sheet, and then distressed the edges.

I added some kitchen string from top left to bottoms right, paper roses and a Charms Creations Hessian Heart to finish the page off. 

I think the colours really work well together in this layout, and tying different floral elements together made this page work!

"Stay strong" by Amanda Hartmann

Hi everyone!

Glad to be back on the blog with a page to share! I created this during our Bee Arty retreat in October, using some special retreat goodies. I love how the colours turned out, check out how I did it with some step by steps below.

I started with a sheet of the Bee Arty white cardstock - smooth and thick and always the best way to start when you want to create your own background.

I began with the Fiona P designed Foliage stencil and I used some washi tape to mask off the designs I wanted to use on my page.

Next I mixed up my own paste. I used some modelling paste, with Mica Powders.

I combined Bling and Olive Grove Mica Powders, which combined to create the awesome shiny mustard colour (which matched my daughters bikini in the photo so perfectly). I used this through the Foliage stencil to create the large leaves and stems on the page.

Next I stenciled some dots using Matte Gel medium, through the That Way stencil. While the paste was still wet, I sprinkled the dots with Colour Embossing Powder - in the Chocolate Sparkle colour.

Before assembling my page, I mixed some Bling Mica Powder with some water, to wash some gold to the background and add some gold splatters to the page.

We had some special bees (designed by Sue Smyth) in our retreat pack, so I had to fussy cut these and use them to finish the page. Along with some stickers, a doily behind the photo and a few little hearts.

Together on Furlough by Michelle Henderson

I'm back again today with a more "traditional" vintage layout this time, using the wonderful Limited Edition paper range designed by Michelle Grant.

A sneaky sneak...

I started with some stamping ink and my platform, stamping along the top edge of my page with the Unpredictable stamp and the Original paper.

 I then used the Enough stencil and Heavy White Gesso to stencil some cogs here and there in a vaguely vertical area, either side of the pattern.

Time to add colour - I used Colour Shimmer Dust in Lush , which I sprinkled on after spraying with water...

I thinned some Colour Artist Ink in Walnut down into a mister, and then sprayed through the same stencil in a couple of areas, and splattered a bit of both colours here and there. I also used the Colour Shimmer Brush Marker in Gold for some splatter - loving that sparkle 😍

I used the watered down Walnut to edge my diecut clock, and undiluted Walnut on the chipboard, which I also edged with the Gold marker.

I also mixed some Colour Mica Powder in Olive Grove and Espresso into clear gel, and used it to alter some metal cogs.

I realised I hadn't taken all the photos I meant to, so here's exactly what I used...

Don't Box Me In by Michelle Henderson

I recently taught this Art Journal page as a class at a retreat for my local scrapbook store - The Paper Teapot😊

Although I'm relatively new to art journalling, I love that you can't make mistakes - what happens, happens...

 I started by covering my journal pages with White Heavy Gesso - you may not need this step, but my journal is an old book I picked up from the second hand book store.

Then I added some Light paste through a stencil, and let it dry thoroughly.

I sprayed the pages with water, then dripped Colour Artist Ink on it and let it run - I used Lime, Mermaid, Grass, Oasis and Calypso.

I also used Colour Artist Ink in Marine, but but only used very little of this as it's such a strong colour.

Next I stamped some squares and a large Carabelle Art stamp with Black archival ink. I also stamped a few more squares of varying sizes with navy and turquoise archival inks.

I then went back over the area I wanted to be the face with the White Heavy Gesso - I was happy to let some of the background still come through. I also shaded some of the squares with this.

I used an aquarelle pencil, Distress crayons and a black Posca pen to shade and outline the face.

The lips were highlighted to give some fullness with Colour Paste in Punch.

Then I stamped some sentiment stamps with archival ink...

At that stage I decided she needed flowers, so added them in the same way as the face...

Time for the title; and finally I mixed some Colour Mica Powder in Olive Grove with string gel, and dribbled some lines to make some crosses...

I also added some tears to my girl with the clear Colour Shimmer Brush Marker {and a few spatters - I just can't help myself with those pens!!)

Hi there... Welcome to my next inspiration.. I am a dab hand at using black.. One of the many reasons that I LOVE Colour Blast products.. 

So much Shimmer and Shine!

I wanted to have a play with the Colour Paste and their resist effect alongside the Colour Mica Powders. I wanted to create backgrounds for dry brushing effects.

I primed a 5" x 7" Canvas with Colour Blast Black Heavy Gesso and used Colour Paste in Deep Water to create these stunning wings through a stencil.

I grabbed some trinkets, chipboard and art stones from my stash and created a collage and painted it all black too. I have a happy box and just rummaged through to find some elements that had the same theme. 

I mixed some Colour Mica Powder (Cool Mint, Polar and Olive Grove) with some gel medium. The Colour Mica Powders are pigment only so if you want them to stick you need to add them to a medium.  I didn't want to dilute the colour so I used the gel medium. I then added a spritz of water to make it fluid consistency.

I dabbed it on haphazardly and then gave it another spritz of water to let it to sink deep into the cracks. Using a paper towel I dabbed off the excess. The white is the water reacting with gel medium, don't worry.. It dries clear..

I repeated the process with all three colours, drying in between. Using my damp paper towel I dabbed over the project to add colour to the rest of the canvas as well. Keep playing until you are satisfied.  

Once this was dry I used some Colour Blast White Heavy Gesso to dry brush the whole project to lift the contours out of the collage. 

I mixed up some colour out of my Colour Shimmer Cube in Singing the Blues and Bling. I used just enough water to activate the pigment and dry brushed them onto the cherub and the butterfly.

Check out the subtle shimmery effect the puddles have left. The Deep Water Colour Paste has a total resist effect and has not lost any of its shine during the process.

To finish off the page I used Colour Mica Powder in Leather to a title I had in my stash and were done..
