 Hey Everyone! Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing with you a layout I created using the Mood Board for March as Inspiration - I decided to get out the gorgeous Grateful Heart Collection... 

I watered down Mica Powders Cool Mint & Royalty to colour the colours & leaves on the Grateful Heart "Together Paper"

I also stamped onto White Cardstock using the Grateful Heart "Heartfelt" Clear Stamp, cut it out and coloured with more Mica Powders Cool Mint & Royalty

I also coloured a DIY Charms Creations Heart with Royalty Mica Powder mixed with water too.

I backed my photo with the Lace Heart from the Grateful Heart "Heart" paper, along with muslin & doily & tissue paper that was the perfect colour match!

And here is the full layout! I really love how it turned out, and hope you are inspired by the Mood Board and maybe using the same collection?

Hi. Today I'm sharing a layout I did using the Spread Your Wings Collection Papers and Mica Powders.

To begin with I tore the edges of my paper - Fly, then stuck it down onto the Keep Calm Paper. I had cut the inside of my Keep Calm paper & later used it to mat my photo.

I then used Snow White Colour Paste through a stencil. 

I mixed Peach Nectar  Colour Mica Powder with Mod Podge. Once I had the colour I was happy with I painted some white flowers. I had some mix ready so I decided to add it to my page through a stencil.

I then added Cool Mint  Colour Mica Powder to Heavy White Gesso. I painted my chipboard then painted some white flowers.

Deciding I needed a third colour I mixed Watermelon  Colour Mica Powder with Mod Podge and again painting white flowers.

I painted my chipboard with Heavy White Gesso before adding some micro beads.

I put all my elements together adding some embellishments including lace & art stones.

Mica Powder Cards by Suzy Loudon

Hi. Today I made some simple cards using the lovely Mica Powders.

Unfortunately it's really hard to capture the shimmer in the photos...but it is there.

I grabbed my Colour Mica Powders in Polar, Watermelon, Wisteria, Cool Mint, Lemon Zing & Peach. Along with that I grabbed a butterfly stamp, my Versa Mark stamp pad, my stipple brush and a white card.

I stamped the butterfly stamp onto the card. You can just see it.

To add colour I dipped my stipple brush into the mica and dabbed it onto the stamped image.

Using a feather brush I brushed off the excess mica. I continued adding colour as I went.

After starting off brushing each colour off after applying I decided to try something different. This time I added all the mica colours then brushed it all off in one go. I liked this way better.

I then moved on to embossing my chipboard sentiments with Rose Petal & Deep Water Colour Embossing Powder.

I added a spotty border using Lavender Liquid Pearls.

I felt it still needed something so I used Snow White Colour Paste through a stencil.

With that I was done.

Hi there... Welcome to my next inspiration.. I am a dab hand at using black.. One of the many reasons that I LOVE Colour Blast products.. 

So much Shimmer and Shine!

I wanted to have a play with the Colour Paste and their resist effect alongside the Colour Mica Powders. I wanted to create backgrounds for dry brushing effects.

I primed a 5" x 7" Canvas with Colour Blast Black Heavy Gesso and used Colour Paste in Deep Water to create these stunning wings through a stencil.

I grabbed some trinkets, chipboard and art stones from my stash and created a collage and painted it all black too. I have a happy box and just rummaged through to find some elements that had the same theme. 

I mixed some Colour Mica Powder (Cool Mint, Polar and Olive Grove) with some gel medium. The Colour Mica Powders are pigment only so if you want them to stick you need to add them to a medium.  I didn't want to dilute the colour so I used the gel medium. I then added a spritz of water to make it fluid consistency.

I dabbed it on haphazardly and then gave it another spritz of water to let it to sink deep into the cracks. Using a paper towel I dabbed off the excess. The white is the water reacting with gel medium, don't worry.. It dries clear..

I repeated the process with all three colours, drying in between. Using my damp paper towel I dabbed over the project to add colour to the rest of the canvas as well. Keep playing until you are satisfied.  

Once this was dry I used some Colour Blast White Heavy Gesso to dry brush the whole project to lift the contours out of the collage. 

I mixed up some colour out of my Colour Shimmer Cube in Singing the Blues and Bling. I used just enough water to activate the pigment and dry brushed them onto the cherub and the butterfly.

Check out the subtle shimmery effect the puddles have left. The Deep Water Colour Paste has a total resist effect and has not lost any of its shine during the process.

To finish off the page I used Colour Mica Powder in Leather to a title I had in my stash and were done..

Beach Walk by Charmane Koch creating background using Mica Powders

Hello Everyone! Hope you are having a great start to your week!

Today I wanted to share with you a layout I have created using Mica Powders to create a unique background.

Firstly I have smeared a rather thick layer over the top of my thick white cardstock using a old Gift Card, which was my main "tool" creating this page, as you will see!

I have then sprinkled Polar Colour Mica Powder randomly over the page using a metal spatula while the gesso is still wet. 

Using the old store card I have scraped backwards and forwards, creating a pretty cool background. Some parts have thick Gesso and colour smeared through, other areas are thinned out. It's all about experimenting & playing until you are happy with the look of it.

I have then mixed Cool Mint Colour Mica Powder together with Gesso, creating a more consistent colour this time. I have smeared this colour through a stencil, to create another layer to my background.

I added more water to the leftover Mica & Gesso mix so that I could soak it up using a piece of muslin & also DIY embellishments - soaking up the colour, so that I use every last bit of it and so that my layout would be matching perfectly.

While these pieces dried, I have then had a play with Envy Colour Embossing Powder. I found that using the Clear Shimmer Pen was perfect to use instead of the usual Embossing Stamping Ink I usually use...

I did gesso my chipboard piece so that the colour would be more vibrant beforehand.

I made sure I tipped PLENTY of Embossing powder over the top. I had folded the piece of paper in half beforehand, so that it is easy to tip the excess back into the pot.

I have to say that I absolutely LOVE Embossing... and I must play more! Here's a closeup...

I felt that the background needed a little more, and when I spotted the cloud stencil in my stash I had to add them to my page! I've used thick Gesso. 

Once everything has dried I've added my little extras to my page to finish it off... including using a felt-tip pen to add journalling, then doodling to my clouds and then outline around the edge of my page.

I really LOVE how this layout has so much texture & layers using the mix of Mica Powder and Gesso - and the two techniques have created different effects, which makes the page so much more detailed.
