I very rarely do double layouts these days, but with too many great photos of a recent holiday to NZ I decided to challenge myself. And what better way to start than with some pics from the Steampunk HQ.
I also decided to play along with the December Colour Blast Challenge. Pop over to the Facebook Page and enter before it's too late.
Here's a quick link... Colour Blast Creative Corner
To begin with I grabbed some metals and chipboard and painted them randomly with Heavy Black Gesso. The metals I didn't cover completely but the chipboard got a full covering.
I prepared my background papers.
I backed my photos onto black card the flipped them over and added some box cardboard for added height.
Using my Colour Shimmer Cubes I activated my Apple of my Eye and Deep Water with my water brushes. Then painted random sections on the painted areas of metals & chipboards.
I heated each metal individually with my heat gun until it was nice & hot.I then quickly sprinkled some Colour Embossing Powder in Sienna over the hot metal. The heat was enough to melt the embossing powder but occasionally needed a quick heat with the gun. Slow process but worth the effort.
With my chipboard cogs I used my embossing dauber to lightly dab sections then covered it with the Sienna Embossing Powder then heat activated it.
I used some Stormy Weather Colour Paste through a stencil
Then some Leather Colour Paste through a different stencil.
For my title I grabbed some black chipboard letters. I covered them completely with my embossing dauber. Then sprinkled each one with a little Sienna Embossing Powder & Leather Embossing Powder & heat activating them.
But before the original embossing powders had set I sprinkled a small amount of Steel Embossing Powder & again heat set it. This gave them a great metallic effect.
My chipboard I embossed with Sienna & Steel Colour Embossing Powder
I received this cool steampunk embellishment from a friend...thanks Shaneen. All I did was add a tiny bit of Steel Embossing Powder to highlight.
Using my Bling, Sienna & Dusty Charcoal Shimmer Cubes I painted this chipboard.
All that was left was to stick it all down.
Here's a few close ups.
Thanks for looking.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas. Hope you get to spend it with your loved ones.
See you next time,
Suzy
