An Art Journal Page by Krisy Podolak

I'm back with another Art Journal Page.  These NEW Colour Shimmer Dusts are so fun to work with.  I was creating a series of backgrounds to make some cards and when I sat down to create with this one I couldn't help but see some aliens in the shapes so I decided I would make this one into an art journal page.

The background was created using a "puffing" technique.  I lightly spritzed and splattered the page with water using a mister and wet paint brush and then using a fine pipette, sucked up some powder and puffed it onto the wet paper. The paper was only lightly wet so the colour dissolved but didn't spread creating a colourful constellation effect.

I allowed it to dry naturally so that the colours would remain separate and dry without mixing too much. Once it was dry I used a black marker to draw and add details to my figures.

I decided to add this one to my art journal over a background I had created using my Gelli Plate.  I then journalled a bit of a story onto the background.  I didn't want the journalling to be the focus so it does blend in to the background and isn't easily seen.  But I felt the page needed it to tell the story.

As this was created in a series of cards you will have to watch my card tutorial next month so see the background being created along with quite a few others.

Creat Me Life By Nirvana

Hi Everybody!!

Here I am today with my last creation, 

because I leave the team, my term of 6 months being ended!

The following are the steps for my project. I begin by spreading   modeling paste on my page through a stencil.

                   

Then I sprayed it with Leather Colour Shimmer Spray.

                  

Over the Shimmer Spray I splattered black ink.

Having positioned my photo, I stamped here and there, and I draw stencils with a pen.

And I color by means of a brush, the inside of my stencils, with the spray Leather.

I use then the Leather Colour Paste on a stencil.

'Love this Boy' by Elisa Ablett

Happy Sunday ! I hope you have all being getting some crafty time in this weekend.

Time for another blog post from me and this week I am sharing a colourful boy layout using the following gorgeous colours from the Colour Blast range - Tangareen Dream, Deep Water and Dusty Charcoal.

So lets have a quick look at a few of the products we will be using to complete this layout, not only do we have our gorgeous Colour Blast products but we have a couple of great stencils and stamps.

Lets begin our layout!! 

Step 1 - Using a white piece of cardstock, Star stencil and modelling paste and using a palette knife, spread modelling paste over your stencil to create a star background. Once dry, spray in lines across your page in several layers to build up your colours and on your last layer tip the paper to the left to create the drips that go to the left side.

Step 2 - after the sprays have completely dried, add your second stencil layer using Colour Blast Dusty Charcoal, Tangareen Dream and Deep Water to the left side of the page.

Step 3 - Using a couple of background stamps and black versamark ink stamp around the area to the right where your photo will be sitting. Add a little stamping to the left of the page as well.

Step 4 - Using a black marker draw around some of the stars to make them pop! I also used the marker and a rectangle lid off a storage container to add hand drawn triangles on the left and right side of the page.

You can see the lightly drawn triangles with a couple of crosses on them in the left hand corner on the bottom photo.

Step 5 - I am a little in love with this Ranger Clear liquid Embossing Dauber, makes embossing large pieces of chipboard so much easier!! I used a combination of Tangareen Dream and Deep Water Embossing Powder, the powders love to blend together where they meet in the middle.

Step 6- Using black versamark ink cover your border chipboard piece with the ink, then dry, then using your finger cover the piece with a layer of Dusty Charcoal Texture Paste.

Step 7 -  Here are some close ups of the layering once i put the layout together.

I added black cotton thread underneath the photo on the bottom near the black piece of chipboard. A star sticker, and then i added a few die cuts from Cocoa Vanilla Studios, some with 3D mounting tape. Some journalling on a orange journal spot and a flair from Funky Flairs Studio.

I positioned the embossed chipboard underneath the photo, with the larger piece more to the upper right to counter balance my built up background to the left.

I used the black versamark ink to ink around the edges of the die cuts to 'grunge' them up a bit.

Gotta love that Shimmer and Shine.

I'm back today with some creative inspiration for you.

Saddly, this is my last post on the Colour Blast team :(

I have had a ball playing with these fantastic products.

Here's what I created...

'BE AWESOME TODAY'

 After playing along with Kraft+ challenge,

that Colour Blast sponsored

the other month. I decided I LOVED the

challenge soooo much, I wanted to have ANOTHER

crack at it LOL....

I've prep a little, using a gesso to created an 'island'.

I then grabbed the Peach Necter Mica Powders, & created

some watercolour detail over the gesso.

I used the same colour to mix in with some

gel medium & put thru a word stencil.

Morning Bloggers! I love when we get to Friday and there is a weekend of creativity on the horizon, I am in desperate need of losing myself in hours of Colour Blast fun...hopefully you are looking forward to the same thing.

My layout today is a simple design that utilises several photo's so I really needed to keep the embellishments quite low key.

I layered the woodgrain paper, transparency and cardstock matting in place and started to build my Colour Blast layers from here onwards. I have used "Singin' the Blues" and "Deep Water" paste

over a fishing net stencil with a palette knife

mixing some of these colours together slightly on my craft mat with a crackle paste.

I love that the colours transition so beautifully to create gorgeous ombre finishes, from darker to lighter and back again.

Nothing creates a whispy finish like some muslin, distressed and torn apart and then sprayed with the matching Colour Blast Shimmer Sprays. "Singin' the Blues" is used on the left and "Deep Water" on the right.

These Shimmer Sprays were then flicked across the layout to add layered splashes.

Finding a title in a colour that matches your layout can be hard to find, so these yellow chipboard letters were given a facelift by covering with a blue ink...

then sprayed lightly with the "Singin' the Blues" Shimmer Spray

and while still wet, a generous pinch of the matching colour embossing powder was added randomly to the surface.

Once heat set, gorgeous thick blobs complete the distressed effect on the letters.

From this stage, embellishments begin to layer...starting with the enlarged photo

then the muslin.

One last minute embellishment, wood veneer pieces covered in "Deep Water" Colour Embossing Powder and then

 layered with hessian trim and metal embellishments.
