Love Every Minute by Suzy Loudon

Hi everyone. I'm back again to share another layout.

I wanted to scrap my son and his girlfriend but didn't want to make it too girly for his album. So what better colour combination than black,white, red and greys.

To begin with I chose a 7Dots paper then used the Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste through a stencil.

 Once dry I spread the Fire Engine Colour Paste through a crack stencil.

 I sprayed some Colour Spray in Road Base onto a plastic tray. I then added some water to water it down. Using a paint brush I dabbed around the edge of my page to give it a darker border.

 Whilst waiting for my page to dry I painted my chipboard in white gesso.

My title I then covered in clear crackle paste.

Once the crackle was dry & cracked I sprayed it with Road Base Colour Spray.

I dabbed some Colour Paste in Steel on some chipboard (and then accidently dropped it face down onto my page giving that little mess in the bottom left hand corner)

After adding a few paper elements I splattered some Colour Spray in Road Base and Love.

A little bit of Fire Engine Colour Paste on some heart chipboard.

My little frame was first painted with Steel Colour Paste, then whilst still wet I sprinkled some Colour Embossing Powder in Dusty Charcoal & Fire Engine. 

Heating gave it some great texture.

A quick spray of some white flowers using Colour Sprays in Road Base & Love.

I added some black & white string then put it all together.

And here's my finished page.

Watercolour Cards by Michelle Logan

Hi Everyone, 

it's Michelle here, sharing a 2 quick and easy techniques to create water coloured cards. 

So here are the first 2 cards all finished and ready to be sent:

And here are the easy steps to create that water colour background.

Tape down your paper to create a border and minimise warp. I have used Hot pressed watercolour paper (300gsm) so it is a smooth texture, as I wanted the stamped image to be sharp.

Then stamp your desired image using black Archival Ink or Stazon so that it does not react with the water you will be adding in the next few steps. If you have no such ink stamp you image after you have created the background. 

 

Now lets add some colour!

I have made easy to use little colour cakes using Colour Mica Powders, water and Gum Arabic. The palette is easily activated by spraying with water and I do not have to mess with powders every time I want to create. 

Activate the colours you wish to use by spraying with water. For these cards I used: Olive Grove, Polar and Cool Mint.

Onto the dry paper add the colours using loose strokes of the brush. If you want the colours to "move" on the paper add a spritz of water.

Add splashes of water to create splats across all the colours.

Add a few splashes of white using watered down Gesso and a fan brush, this adds depth to the piece.

Once dry, peel off the tape and cut to size, I like adding a scratchy border with a fineliner, I feel it finishes it off, purely optional though of course!

 

Mount your card on black card stock and you are almost done.

 

I felt they needed some more of that white so I went to town with the splatters of Gesso and then made some stamped circles with a piece of tubing I had lying around.

Time to embellish! I used Chippies here with Stormy Weather Colour Embossing Powder, I think I did a couple of layers on them. Oh look you can see how I keep track of the products I use up the top of this shot....such professional record keeping!

Attach the chippies, I have also added a few dots of Perfect Pearls.

Glue onto your card and all is done!

Now the next cards are done in a similar way, this time on a wet substrate.

Lets get to it!

I stamped my images as I did in the last lot of cards.  Once dry, spritz with water and splash around some colour.

This time I used Colour Shimmer Dust in Lollipop and Amber. I put the powder on my palette then added water and used a brush to "spread" the paint around.

                                              

Add more water and move the paper around to create drips, like stems of the flowers.

I added a few drops of Bling Colour Shimmer Spray to add some shine.

I added a border like last time  and a few squiggly stems and leaves with a fineliner.

Mount on black card stock, add some embossed chippy pieces (this time embossed with Bling Colour Embossing Powder), some dots of Perfect Pearls and you are done!

This is my last share backlogged from this years Expo.  Thank you cards.  I had so many sponsors that were nice enough to provide vouchers and gift packs for those that attended my classes so I just had to send out a few thank you cards.  I did a stint of the Tutor display at the Expo and used this as an opportuinty to create some card bases that I came back and "prettied" up.  

Here they are with a quick run down of how to create them:

This card base was created using  Bling Colour Shimmer Spray on black cardstock. I had prepared and embossed it with clear embossing powder and a stencil.  To colour the Thank you chipboard I twice embossed it in Bling Colour Embossing Powder to make it nice and glossy.

This background is a wash of the NEW Colour Shimmer Dusts in Sunflower and Lush over  the same clear embossed stencilled image as the one above.  I embossed the chipboard and thank you in Bling Colour Embossing Powder and added some thread and punchinella for more visual interest.

This background is a mix of Colour Shimmer Dust used as a wash with some Puffing applied over the top.  Not sure what Puffing is?!? You will have to go back to my August Posts to read all about it.

The chipboard is embossed with Deep Water and Lipstick.

This one is the Colour Shimmer Dust in Sunflower and Candy mixed together to make an orange.  The bird is painted with both colours that blending nicely to make an orange.  The Chipboard is embossed with Bling Colour Embossing Powder.

This purple background is the Colour Spray in Violet with a bit of Bling Colour Shimmer Spray splattered over it.  The squares are clear embossed before any colour is added.  The Thank you Chipboard is embossed in Bling Colour Embossing Powder and the honey comb chipboard behind it is embossed in Apple of my Eye Colour Embossing Powder.

This background was clear embossed before any colour was added. I then added a wash of Candy and Midnight Colour Shimmer Dust over the top.  The chip board is embossed with Lipstick Colour Embossing Powder.

This background is a wash of CANDY and LUSH Colour Shimmer Dust over a background of clear embossed dots.  I then stamped one of my very own hand carved stamps over the top in Stayzon Ink.  To colour the Thank you chipboard I embossed the Thank in Apple of my Eye and then the You in Lipstick Colour Embossing Powders to contrast against the background. I then added some tiny words all over the background using one of my roller stamps.

Good morning everyone,

I managed to sneak by while no one was looking to share a canvas that I've been working on. 

I've heard people comment that they want to try mixed media projects but they look to complicated, well hopefully after seeing my canvas you'll see that they can be as complicated or as simple as you choose to make them.

The first thing I did was to get the canvas and photo I wanted to use, then I raided my chipboard stash looking for all those pieces I've been holding on to since forever!

Once I found the pieces I wanted to use I laid them out on the canvas and played around until I had them how I liked them. I then took a photo so that I had something to refer to as I put the canvas together. 

The next thing I did was work out where I wanted my stencilled bricks to go, I added them using crackle paste and then I glued the chipboard bricks in place. The reason for this was that if the chipboard bricks had been secured in place first it would have been to difficult to keep the stencil flat on the canvas and I won't have been able to get a clean image which is what I wanted. 

I also added some texture to the chipboard bricks by dabbing the crackle paste left on my spatular over them.

After adding some more crackle paste through a different stencil I left it to dry to allow the paste to crackle. I've tried hurrying the process using a heat gun but the crackle has to happen in its own time.

While the crackle paste was drying I glued down all the chipboard with the exception of the main frame, the words and the little birds.

Once the crackle paste has dried and crackled I brushed white gesso over the entire canvas and ten set it aside to dry.

I then painted the words, the main frame and the birds with white gesso on a non-stick mat.

I found I had to give both the canvas and the seperate chipboard two coats of gesso to get the desired coverage.

Once the gesso was dry I set about adding the colour. The first thing I coloured was the words. I covered the words in clear ink and then sprinkled Lovely Lilac Colour Embossing Powder over the words. 

To get the depth of colour and shimmer I wanted I added a second layer after heating the first.

I then moved on to colouring the flowers by using Lovely Lilac Colour Shimmer Spray. I sprayed some on a non-stick mat,

And then using a paint brush I painted the petals, 

by doing this I was able to capture not only the lovely colour but the shimmer as well.

When the flowers had dried the only ting left to do was to adhere the remaining pieces to the canvas.

And here is the end result!

When I started the canvas I had intended to add additional colour by spraying the body of the canvas with other Colour Shimmer Spray colours but I decided against it as I loved the way the white background highlighted the black and white wedding photo I had used. Depending on the photo you use and your own personal taste this is another option you can try.

Hi all!!

I have been juggling many balls and nearly let this one drop =/

Creating isn't the problem it's remembering to record the process and then share it here but its holiday time so I have plans to get in front =)

Anyways this year my baby man found a passion for soccer and I became a soccer mum.

Who knew I would love it!

So here's to the important stuff...documenting this new passion!

I was drawn to a recent monochromatic challenge as I panned this layout.

As I wanted differing shades of blue I began by mixing some Colour Shimmer Dust in Navy into some plain Gesso, this was then smeared on to my cardstock (sorry no pic for reference...this is where I remembered what I was able to do when creating)

Once the Gesso mix was dry I decided to emboss straight onto my background using Steel Colour Embossing Powder...

I have been so very keen to use black cardstock for the background...

Check out that shine!!!

Using a stencil I smooshed on some Just Blue  Colour Paste, and while drying I got a bit game...

I decided to combine some embossing and texture paste to a chipboard piece.

To do this I prepped the piece with Versamark and embossed the parts I wanted in Stormy Weather Colour Embossing Powder. I used a glad baggy with its end cut to help direct the powder where I wanted it to go.

 Once I had 'cooked' this on I painted on my colour paste, this required two coats.

Then it was all about the pic and the embellies =)

Oh I should forget to mention that I used some tissue grunged up with some diluted Colour Shimmer Dust in Navy...I did this by simply scrunching the tissue up and painting randomly over the creases before flattening out and gluing down.
