Hi Everyone, Michelle back to share my latest LO using the fab Colour Blast Products!

I have also added a little step by step to let you in on how I did it, so here goes!

Here is the full LO:

So first of all lets create the background:

I used a foam roller and white paint to "roll" a strip down one side of my card, then glued random pieces of tissue down over the top. I then used more paint with a brush to create paint splashes.

I then added more splashes with shimmer sprays in Leather and Deep Water.

I then used a stencil, ruler and paint marker to add my circles and lines then it was time to create a little texture by spreading a little colour paste in the same 2 colours, Leather and Deep Water.

I just applied the paste with a plastic palette knife, then used another stencil and the Deep Water Colour Paste to add a bit of script to the background.

And the background is done, looks like a red hot mess at this stage doesn't it?! 

I then added the photo with a few paper layers underneath and tucked some black thread under the layers as I thought it needed more black to tie it all together.

Now time for the chipboard pieces! 

I treated them with a few colours and layers of embossing powder (Deep Water, Steel and Snow White). On the arrow pieces I sprayed the embossed piece with Shimmer Spray in Bling, don't ask me why! Cannot give you a good reason I just like the pooling colour look!

The title chippy is embossed with a few layers of Snow White Embossing Powder then I sprayed with Deep Water Shimmer Spray.

I then added some stamped words mounted on black matt board around the photo to add interest. 

And my page is done!

Evil Queens by Krisy Podolak

I like to look for ways to use the pastes that go beyond just applying them through a stencil.  So, today I created an Art Journal Page that only used brushes to apply the paste.

On the background I used a wider dry brush to create texture and on the image I used a smaller brush layering the colour over and over.  

My daughter is really into the Disney princesses at the moment and I can't say I am disappointed.  I love watching the movies, I love the messages and I love the Princesses.  My favourites are Cinderella and Ariel but I love Belle and Anna too.  Oh, who am I kidding I love them all.  I think this layout is the start of a Princess series from me.  I have a whole heap of ideas that I just need to find the time to get onto paper.  Who's your favourite princess?  

I kept the background pretty dark on this layout using the 'Leather' and 'Dusty Charcoal' Colour Blast pastes with the dry brush.  The background was something that I had started a while ago and then it got but to the side at some point.  

For the apple I used red Acrylic paint mixed with 'Snow White' colour paste.  I don't have any red in my collection and to be honest I have been meaning to buy some for a while but everytime I have some spare money and put in an order, Red gets pushed to the bottom of the list when I look as some of the other amazing colours.  Red is back at the top now.  But that being said - the paste mixed nicely with the red acrylic and created a poison apple red that was better that I could have imagined.  I then applied straight 'Snow White' to create the apples shine.  For the leaf I use 'Envy' and 'Apple of my Eye'.  They look great together.

My lettering still needs a lot of work but it is slowly getting better.  I need to find a white pen that works well for journalling - I tried a Posca paint pen but I always have trouble getting them to write fluidly.  What's your favourite Art Journalling pen?  I resorted to using liquid white out which a fellow Art Journaller suggest to me and it worked but wasn't as fine as I wanted.  Any advice is appreciated!

Water Lillies Layout by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

Elisa here again with my newest creation for the Colour Blast Blog.

I am sharing a layout called 'Water Lillies' I created using Royalty and Sunshine Colour Blast Paste and Apple of my Eye, Sunshine and Royalty Shimmer Sprays all of which can be found on the Colour Blast Australia website. Click on the links and see the amazing colours available.

I was going through my photo's the other day and came across this photo of a couple of gorgeous water lilies that I took near my Mum's property and thought it's perfect for showcasing the Royalty and Sunshine Colour Pastes and Sprays.

Here is a close up of the gorgeous shimmer and shine of the pastes and sprays and of the details of the Oriental inspired screens, rub-ons and stamping.

Now lets go through some of the techniques that I used to create my layout.

Firstly, I gathered together the Colour Blast Pastes and Sprays I needed to go with my photo along with my stencil and laid out a rough plan for my layout.

Here I used the very tip of the palette knife to control the placement of the different coloured Pastes on my Stencil. After each flower was completed I washed and dried the stencil and moved it around my page as required.

While I waited for the background to dry I decided to work on my Oriental inspired frames. I found some gorgeous tissue paper that went beautifully with my colour scheme. As you can see from the photo, I turned the Chipboard frames upside down and glued them to the tissue paper. Once dried I cut around the frames, I liked the look of a couple of the screens left with the tissue paper stretched over the top of the frame and had the great idea to create my own Asian inspired paper screens. To get a smooth edge I used a bit of glue on my finger and smoothed it over all the edges.

Next step !! gather together all your old rub-ons and grab your desired stamps, using Black Versafine ink stamp in a mirror image on both screens, you can achieve this by stamping the image on the left screen on top of the tissue paper. Then grab the right screen - turn it over- then stamp the image on the underside of the right screen, so when you turn it over it becomes the mirror image of the left screen. You can only do this with certain paper types like tissue paper.

The next step is to Spray over the top of your Stencilled and dried lillies, I sprayed then used a spray bottle filled with water to disperse the colour around my page, tilting the page left and right at times to spread the colour.

Once dry I decided to do a little more background stamping with my chosen stamps, I also decided to take a bit of the intensity of the ink off the stamp by stamping on my mat first then stamping on my page, works a treat!

Let the ink dry completely before this next step, 'roughly' add your desired rub-ons to your page - you do not have to be concerned if its not particularly neat, I wanted mine to look weathered and worn. It is adding extra texture and depth to your page.

Time to put your layout together!  Firstly stick your frames down on your page, arranging them in a central position. Also I decided to put one of the frames on a tilt in the middle to add a little interest drawing the eye to the photo in the middle. I framed the photo in a chipboard frame, covered in black ink just to further showcase the photo as the background is quite bright and busy.

Here is the finished layout! there is plenty of shimmer and shine from the Colour Blast Products and I think a new purpose for all those rub-ons I have in my stash.

Hi hi lovelies!!!
I'm back to share this quick little layout I did of my little Miss.

Teal is totally my favourite colour, so Deep Envy Colour paste suits me to a tee LOL

I watered down some 'Deep Envy' colour paste to create a watercolour effect on my background & gave it a quick dry with my heatgun.

Once it was dried, I grabbed one of my fav stencils (this one is a Flutterby Designs one) & used the same colour paste through the stencil.

I've also used a Flutterby fussy cut, for a title & blinged it up using

Colour Blast 'Bling' Embossing powder.

I then used a posca paint pen to add some doodling.

I grabbed my 'Apple of My Eye' Colour paste & added a little water (just a bit) to allow me to 'flick' some onto my layout as splats, as well as some 'Bling' shimmer spray!

Happy Friday Everyone. There is very little doubt that we have all fallen in love with the Colour Blast products, I have played with all of the colours but until this layout, hadn't actually committed "Envy" to any particular project. I had been waiting for something really special and to me, that is always an ultra sized enlargement. In this particular case, this photo is slightly smaller than a 12 x 12.

I matted and distressed the sanded photo with a small edge of white cardstock and then decided that I really didn't love a lavender section in the graffiti style wall so trimmed it all away. (Sorry no pic!)What to do next....? I figure at least a black plain distressed pattern would help ground the photo and was very happy with the overall look.

Using a 12 x 12 script stencil, I overlapped it over the top of the image. My idea was to work all "Envy" paste with a palette knife around the outer edges of my son and onto some of the black pattern.

Fingers crossed at this point!!! I do love things to stay neat and tidy.

So at this stage, there were a couple of messy spots created from bleeding under the stencil. No mistakes....just opportunities to build layers and embellishment clusters over the top.

Next was a quick flick or spritz of "Steel" shimmer spray on the black pattern, it helped pick up the industrial look of the layout. And now I just cleared a safe place in my workspace to leave the Colour Blast paste to dry in it's own time.

The wood veneer "Selfie" title was inked with  a platinum/silver ink

and a double coat of the "Steel" embossing powder was applied.

The steampunk style chipboard piece was spritzed heavily with "Steel" shimmer spray and randomly sprinkled with the matching embossing powder and heat set.

The chipboard cogs had the same application but with a little "Envy" embossing powder thrown in to break up the bulky look.

Have you tried heating metal objects and dipping it in the embossing powder?

It is literally setting itself in this pic, though you can apply a little more heat if needed. No ink necessary!!! It is a great way to change the look of a simple embellishment.  

Once my stencilling was dried, all of the embellishments could be attached directly over the photo and spread into a triangular configuration for clusters.

Found this little metal light switch too, super cute look teamed with the chipboard light bulb. Why not dig through your stash of metal pieces this weekend and give it a go...
