Accept changes , life goes on . 20x20 canvas

Sometimes I am filled with melancholic feelings when I think about my 8 children.

looking old pictures I miss times when they were small.

I raised them up alone and we have had hard times together.

No family, just the 9 of us.

But life goes on and although they all fly out, they are still in my near.

So I made a small canvas just for myself.

It represent my children flying away from me and thats ok :) 

I like abstract and also the red/black / white colorscheme.

I started by spreading out white gesso over a black canvas.

Into the wet gesso I sprayed shimmer mist charcoal.

Sorry, I had to make the pictures by night....strange colors :) 

Than I took some chipboard negatives .

I always save them, they have great shapes...

I lay them in the wet gesso and take them off again.

It gives me some extra white texture as you see above the chipboard.

Next I color the chipboard with the red embossingpowder.

 But first I stippled on gesso to give it a rough look.

I took two simple chipboard butterflys, gessod them...

And covered them up with tissuepaper 

It is a good reminder and hanging just above my crafttable :)

Quick Card Set - Squares by Kerry Fellowes

Hi everyone! Kerry here again.

Today I have a process video showing you how you can make a quick set of cards.  I find its great to have a few cards on hand for that unexpected birthday party that the kids get invited to, or for sending someone a quick 'Thank you' note.  These cards would even make a lovely gift to give someone. They are so quick and easy and super fun to make!

I started by smearing two pieces of cardstock with the Colour Blast Pastes.  The green tones are 'Deep Water' and 'Envy' and the purple is 'Royalty' and 'Rose Petal'.  When these were dry I cut them into squares.  I stamped and edged them in Black Archival ink.

The card bases were randomly splattered or stamped to create an interesting background and then the coloured squared are layered ontop.  This technique really gives you endless layout opportunities as the little coloured squares are really the 'stars of the show'. To add a little bit more to the cards, I spritzed them all with the 'Bling' Colour Shimmer Spray.

 I've got something a little understated for me.

Sometimes a photo just says enough by itself, it doesn't need much and speaks volumes without all the words and embellishments.

I had this black and white photo. I loved the simplicity of it and managed to find the right balance putting it into a page.

I got started with black cardstock and found a stencil that to me was perfect.

It fit the perfect brief of a picture tells a thousand words.

Using Colour Paste, I smeared a mixture of colours through my stencil

Once dry I layered another stencil over with my photo in mind so it framed it.

My next step was to add some spritz using Colour Shimmer Spray.

This created a beautiful shimmer to the page and stained the white stencil in places.

 

To finish I trimmed my photo to size and layered with a mixture of white, green and black.

Added it to my page.

To embellish my photo I inked my chipboard frame pieces in Cloud white and embossed with Stormy Weather.

The result is a beautiful silver.

White leaves and a flair was all I needed to finish this off with a touch of scattered sequins.

After it was all complete I felt it needed an edge.

Being black I chose to trim the edges and layered this over the orange cardstock.

This finished off the page beautifully!

As you can see the results on black are striking!

"Just Be You" Plus VIDEO with Trudi Harrison

Hi Everyone!

Trudi with you today sharing some more Colour Blast fun.

I have used Colour Pastes and Shimmer Sprays to add grungy colour, texture and detail to my background cardstock.

 Start by adding some masked detail with a Donna Downey Stencil and Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste.

Mist over some of the background with Rose Petal and Fire Engine Shimmer Sprays. 

 Add some Just Blue Shimmer Spray

 And add some more masked detail with a Kaiser Dot Stencil and Snow White Colour Paste.

 Randomly dab over with White Gesso 

Then Spritz with Deep Water and Sunshine Shimmer Sprays. 

 Add some stamped detail with Prima clear stamps and pigment black ink. 

Finally add your photo and any other embellishments.

I added 2Crafty Chipboard - painting the arrows with Deep Water Colour Paste and masked detail with Sunshine.

Dare To Dream Big by Suzy Loudon

A big Hello to everyone once again. 

I'm back again to share another page I created. I find boy pages can often times be a challenge, but I really enjoyed creating this one of my son who is about to embark on adulthood.

I began with a plain white piece of cardstock. I tore strips/chunks (however it went) of white tissue paper. Gave them a scrunch in my hands before opening them up again.

I then pasted the tissue paper onto my cardstock using Mod Podge. I did this by using a paint brush spreading the paste onto the cardstock then brushing over the tissue paper (that I placed leaving the creases & scrunching the paper close together). I ended up brushing the Mod Podge over the entire cardstock so it looked consistent (and knowing I was going to use a lot of Shimmer Spray)

Once dry stuck down randomly cut plasterboard tape and then used texture paste through a stencil.

Its very hard to see the crosses (texture paste) being white on white...sorry

Once dry using my finger I gently rubbed Colour Paste -Singin' The Blues, Dusty Charcoal & Bling over the tops of the creases.

After a quick heat with my heat gun I began spraying, alternating between Singin' the Blues & Dusty Charcoal until I had the whole page coloured. The colours mixed a bit as I went. I dried it with my heat gun pushing the colours around as I went. 

I then turned my focus onto my metal cogs. I heated them with my heat gun, using my metal spatula I sprinkled a little embossing powder -in Singin' the Blues & Dusty Charcoal, then used my spatula to move it to the side to cool. Don't touch with your fingers or you will  burn (and allow for cooling or you'll get a burnt finger like me)

It was then time to put the page together and embellish.

The shimmer of the sprays is glorious. And the slight mixing of the two colours has made a amazing steel metallic look. Unfortunately so hard to capture in a photo.
