Steampunk Inspiration - Part 2 with Trudi Harrison

Hi Everyone!

Trudi back with the second part to my project that I shared earlier in the month with you. You may recall the steampunk inspired heart:

It now adorns the front cover of this paper mache mini album:

The cover was altered with Colour Pastes and Shimmer Sprays.  Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste was first applied with a palette knife with a slight stippled effect created.  Masked detail was then added with Leather Colour Paste and a cog stencil.

Leather and Deep Blue Colour Shimmer Sprays were then spritzed over the top.

I created a frame from heavy cardstock.

 

Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste was applied over the top with a palette knife.

A stipple effect was created by pressing the flat part of the knife up and down.

A heat gun was used to dry the paste - this also created a lovely bubbled effect which adds extra detail to the texture.

Leather and Deep Water Colour Shimmer Sprays were then spritzed over the top.

 The frame was attached to the cover with foam tape. 

More colour was added with Deep Water and Sunshine Colour Shimmer Sprays.

 Chipboard elements were altered with Colour Shimmer Sprays -  Dusty Charcoal, Leather, Deep Water and Sunshine.

 

A button medallion was first painted with Deep Water Colour Paste and then accented with Leather and Deep Water Colour Shimmer Sprays. 

The reverse of the cover was altered similarly as the front.

The mini album pages were adhered together and a 3D window box effect created by removing a rectangle section with a craft knife. 

Masked detail was added with Leather Colour Paste.

 

 Charcoal and Leather Colour Shimmer Sprays add colour.

 The depth of colour was built up with accents of Deep Water and Sunshine.

 Another altered frame was created and chipboard elements added for embellishment.

 Chipboard was spritzed with Leather with accents of Deep Water Colour Shimmer Sprays.

With sadness, this is my last project for Colour Blast as a Design Team member.  I would like to thank Colour Blast for the opportunity of being part of this fabulous team.  It sure has been fun working with your awesome products and sharing some happy inspiration along the way.

Trudi back with you today sharing some more Colour Blast inspiration! 

I had so much fun creating with Shimmer Sprays and Colour Pastes.  

The background for this layout was first started as a sample for a workshop where we worked with

 Fire Engine and Sunshine Shimmer Sprays and Fire Engine and Deep Water Colour Paste and Gesso.

There it sat for a little while in storage until the other night when I pulled it out.  The great thing about creating with mixed media is that you can keep adding layers - and if you are not happy with something, white gesso can be your best friend for starting over. 

For my layout 'So Happy Together', I wanted to grunge things up a little so I added some more masked detail with Dusty Charcoal and Deep Water Colour Paste. More colour depth was added with Dusty Charcoal Shimmer Spray and a little contrast with Sunshine.

After applying the Dusty Charcoal, I felt it was a little bold so to soften a little white gesso was dabbed over the top.

Hi Everyone!

Trudi back with you today sharing some more Colour Blast Inspiration.  I have recycled flower packaging and added some colour fun with Shimmer Sprays and Colour Paste.

Fire Engine Colour Paste and a stencil were used for masked detail.  I heated the paste which created a lovely bubbled effect. 

Dusty Charcoal Shimmer Spray was spritzed over the top. 

Sunshine was then added to the colour party 

Along with Deep Water.

I also added some stamped detail with a grid stamp and black ink before embellishing.

Happiness with Trudi Harrison

Hi Everyone!

Trudi back with today sharing some more Colour Blast Inspiration. This time I have worked with a darker background and I have to say that I just love the effects of shimmer sprays and colour pastes on the black cardstock.

For the stenciled butterfly, a lovely variegated effect was created Colour Paste - Apple Of My Eye, Deep Water, Rose Petal and Fire Engine.
Drying the paste with a heat gun creates a lovely bubbled effect.

A masked swirly flourish was added with Snow White Colour Paste.

Shimmer Sprays were spritzed over the top - Deep Water, Sunshine and Fire Engine. Just love the shimmery cosmic effect these created.  

A Prima Relic and Artifact chandelie was altered with Shimmer Sprays, Just Blue, Deep Water, Sunshine and Fire Engine.

Live Your Adventure by Trudi Harrison

Hi Everyone,

Trudi back with today sharing some more Colour Blast fun! 

I have been having lots of fun with the Shimmer Sprays. For my project, I have worked with Leather and Deep Water to create a grungy girl page. 

 Deep Water was spritzed over the background strips of paper. I really like the effect when you only put a  small amount of pressure on the nozzle - lovely splotches and splatters can be created.

 2Crafty Chipboard cogs and word title were spritzed with Leather. The cogs had a couple of applications whilst the title also had Deep Water randomly spritzed over it - this created a lovely variegated effect. The square collage panel sitting behind the photo was first inked with Deep Water then spritzed over the top.

Die Cut elements from coordinating paper were also altered with Leather and Deep Water.

Deep Water was also added to the metal butterfly - I removed the nozel and flicked with a paint brush.

Layout Inspiration by Trudi Harrison

Hello Again Colour Blasters!

Trudi with you today sharing some more Colour Blast fun.

Earlier this month I had the absolute pleasure of teaching this layout at a workshop for the Surreal Creations Day Retreat.  Thanks so much to Danielle and Hailey for having me!

Participants created a beautiful background with Shimmer Sprays and Colour Pastes and I have to say that the results were fabulous. Although this layout is quite 'feminine', it was still quite adaptable for photo's of boys (as some did) and perfect for holiday memories.  

 

I have to admit that Deep Water, Fire Engine Red and Sunshine are one of my favourite combinations. 

2Crafty Chipboard elements were first painted white. I like to paint chipboard first to help with absorption and to keep the colour I am working with 'true'.

 A variegated effect was added to the flourishes with Deep Water and Dusty Charcoal Shimmer Sprays.  Deep Water Colour Paste was then randomly dabbed over the top to add a little texture and intensity. 

Colour was added to the chipboard title with Fire Engine and Sunshine Shimmer sprays and 

white roses were spritzed with Fire Engine then lightly dabbed with white gesso.

"Just Be You" Plus VIDEO with Trudi Harrison

Hi Everyone!

Trudi with you today sharing some more Colour Blast fun.

I have used Colour Pastes and Shimmer Sprays to add grungy colour, texture and detail to my background cardstock.

 Start by adding some masked detail with a Donna Downey Stencil and Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste.

Mist over some of the background with Rose Petal and Fire Engine Shimmer Sprays. 

 Add some Just Blue Shimmer Spray

 And add some more masked detail with a Kaiser Dot Stencil and Snow White Colour Paste.

 Randomly dab over with White Gesso 

Then Spritz with Deep Water and Sunshine Shimmer Sprays. 

 Add some stamped detail with Prima clear stamps and pigment black ink. 

Finally add your photo and any other embellishments.

I added 2Crafty Chipboard - painting the arrows with Deep Water Colour Paste and masked detail with Sunshine.
