Simply beautiful by Sandi Spink

Hi hope everyone is enjoying their week. I have always had a problem of knowing when to stop and when to add more or not, so today I decided to go back to my old style of simple is best. I have always loved white space so here is my take on going back to simple and beautiful using ' Fearless, Brave and Free' paper range by Fiona Paltridge.

I used:  Papers - Frames and Phrases 'Free', Circles 'Collections' 'Within' 'Leap' and the B sides of 'Confidence' and 'Chance'

12x12 white cardstock

Music paper coloured with a wash of 'Lagoon'

Black cardstock to back title

Colour Blast Artist Ink- 'Sunburst'

Colour Blast Colour Spray- 'Lagoon', 'Carribean', 'Road base'

colour Blast Shimmer dust- 'Amber'

Archival ink- black

Black wire

Step 1- I sprayed a small amount of 'Lagoon' onto the right side of the paper ensuring that there was minimum spray in the area.

Step 2- Using the 'Carribean' spray I unscrewed the top and dropped droplets of colour over the 'lagoon' colour. Moving the paper helped the ink move, make patterns and mix. I let it dry slightly before adding more droplets so that I didn't get a large puddle. By placing the corner of a wet one into the puddle can draw up excess ink.

Step 3- Whilst the ink is drying it's a good time to cut out the phrases, frames and shapes needed to be layered together to add dimension and colour. I used the artist dye ink 'Sunburst' to add red to the hearts to the frame.

Step 4- Picking out a title and backing it with back card stock makes the title pop so after adding this to the page I decided to add arrows to connect the title and the layers. Remembering all the time.... simple don't add to much. I felt there was too much white space so I used the 'Lagoon', 'Carribean', 'Road base' and some 'Amber' shimmer dust mixed with a small amount of water to add splats.

Sometimes things don't go to plan so if 2 colours mix that spoil the look you can do what I did and find some of the 'chance' circles cut them out and cover the area and then of course add a few more to even out the look. Mistakes can add a dimension you didn't think of before.

Here is some closeups for you to look at:

Boys Boys Boys Layout - Chrissi Mannix

Hello Lovelies!!
Today I have one of my favorite layouts ever to share with you. I love everything about this layout, especially the photo of my 2 crazy boys.

So the interesting thing about this layout, was that it was initially inspired by an art journal page I made. I was creating a page and was cleaning off my stamp sand inks onto a separate page. I decided to use that clean up page to create another art journal page. I loved how it turned out so much I decided to use the basis of that page as a layout.
I started with Colour Blast Artist Inks in Oasis, Calypso and Mermaid, and Colour Blast Colour Spray in Carribean.
I tipped these colours into a paint palette so I could apply my colour to my layout with a paint brush as a watercolour.
The thing I love most about these products is that they are water reactive. So by spraying water to my layout, I was able to get some movement out of my inks and some great blending.
Once I had my colour down, now it was time to add some details to my background. I'm using Colour Blast Colour Spray in Road Base. I started by spritzing through a stancil in a few different places and then also adding splats with my colour spray aswell. I also added some stamping with a small background stamp.
My favoutite part of this layout is the 'Boys' stamping.  I really wanted this to be bold and stand out. So I decided to use Colour Blast Heavy Black Gesso instead of  Ink. It worked amazingly.

I had some left over cheesecloth that I had dyed with Road Base Colour Spray. I added that to my background. I love using cheesecloth to add texture to my layout.
Then it was time to add my photo. I adore this photo of my boys, its just so them. I kept all my embellishing simple, and focused on my background being the main focus of my layout, and I used the background stamping as my title. I love how it all comes together.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you liked my layout. Stop by soon for more inspiration from the awesome Design Team.

"fun" by Mal

Hi all,
Mal here with this month's challenge....drum roll...

The challenge this month is

So I started with my black background, gessoed the areas I was going to use with some Heavy White Gesso.

Then thought as the cardstock is dark I have to have some bright colours on my background, so chose some Colour Pastes in Sunshine, Deep Water and Singin the Blues  and smeared some pastes in different areas.

Next I sprayed a raw wood veneer title with Colour Spray in Carribean and some chipboard stars with Sunshine Colour Shimmer Spray and Carribean Colour Spray.

After drying, I assembled it all, stapled it down and I'm done.

Challenge Done!

So what an awesome challenge hey...great sketch hey.
Hope to see heaps of your entries this month.

Happy Scrapping.....Malxxx

BeYOUtiful by Malinda

Hi all,
I've got a page to share with you today that took me about 15 minutes all up including drying time...yep 15 minutes. How do I scrap that fast you may ask???? Well I have a sort of formula I use when doing a page and if I stick to it my pages just fall into place. I only use Colour Blast inks, sprays, pastes on my page to colour things and for my backgrounds and all the products dry super quick and are sooo easy to use.

So here's my page...

So I first do my background. A quick spray over a template of Bubblegum Colour Spray and a quick dry using a heat gun.

Next I took a raw wood veneer title beYOUtiful and first I painted it with some Colour Paste in Lipstick. Then I actually sprayed the title before it dried with some of the Bubblegum Colour Spray. Why would I do that? Well my Lipstick paste is coming to the end of it's life; it's nearly empty and what I do have left is a bit thick and hard to paint with. So I needed to give the title some depth and I wanted it to be rich and glossy and deep in colour. When I sprayed it after I'd painted it with the paste the spray seeped into the paste and the two blended and the colour became quite intense.
I dried it off and made sure I got quite close so that the paste bubbles (I love this affect on my words)

How cool does that title look. I like the dimension and depth that's been created.

  Next it's time to embellish.
I had cream flowers but not the right colour pink so I decided to colour the cream flowers I had. I simply sprayed them a couple of times with the Bubblegum spray. I purposefully made sure I didn't completely cover the flowers as I wanted some of the cream to come through.

Lastly some wire and a few other embellishments (all from D-lish scraps of course) and I'm done.

Super quick and super easy.
All made possible with the super easy to use and super quick drying Colour products.

What do you think? Can you scrap that fast?
