Last DTColour Blast Post for Me by Lisa Oxley

Howdy Bloggers, Lisa here with my last blog post as a DT member for this funky fresh still new company. Its sad to be parting but look out for me over the coming months for the odd Guest DT spot, because of course, one can not, keep me from loving and sharing all the colour that is on my creative table, and from next month I will actually be posting on my blog hopefully, as its been a little neglected over the last few months.

Ok, so lets look at what I have created as my last piece for Colour Blast Blog.

I truly love reworking themes, techniques, ideas and tweaking products.

This canvas below "Charisma"was created as a gift,

 for a positive kind heart, music loving soul with a vibrant charismatic character.

I wanted to try and transfer those qualities and attributes onto a piece of art.

This is how I did that.

The background is created using Acrylic inks and a water mister, when dry, using acrylic paints applied with a foam brush or dauber, I started to layer the many layers of stencils to achieve a dreamcatcher like look to the piece. 

I played with the music theme and used word stencils to reinforce positive words.

Its all about the layering... 

and then combining the uber fun Colour Blast Colour Paste to highlight certain sections of the piece. Unfortunately one doesn't see the shimmery beauty in this photo. 

 Whitening out the edges gave the piece more definition to the overall look

Here is the finished work .

Art Journal Update with Lisa Oxley

Howdy Bloggers, Lisa Here with a funky fun Colour Blast update,

Art Journaling takes up heaps of my creative time. Because its Rad.

I love the free flow and freedom it allows one... to explore products and ideas, to find techniques and work them into new and different ways.

I have reworked this particular technique many times and its still fresh, every time.

When I'm using Colour Blast within my Art Journals,

 the Colour Sprays add such a fun colour to pages. Instantly transforming white pages.

I try to keep my use of paste within the pages to a minimum.

For added Drama, Shimmer and Texture.

For this page I have used Royalty coloured Colour Paste as the highlight on the page.

For added detail, I have used paint pens, which work beautifully over the paste.

 Love that shimmer .

Dreaming Big by Lisa Oxley

Howdy Folks, Lisa Here with a Colourful Colour Blast Update.

I've got this cool piece to share with you.

Colour Blast colour pastes lend themselves so well when working on canvas.They can become the ultimate highlight piece .

To create this canvas I have raided my stencil stash and attacked my large 75cm x 100 cm canvas with a central mandala like image, and masked it using Colour Blast Colour Paste

in Sunshine, Tangerine Dream, Singin the Blues, Royalty and Apple of my Eye.

The rest of the stencil process at this point is simple acrylic paints, like Dinas and Dylusions.

 More stencils 

 I needed some more colour in the background so a little acrylic ink and acrylic paint were added in after the stencils, to add some more substance to the piece. #doitfirstnexttime

 out comes the Colour Blast paste again to highlight a few of the stencils

 to finish off I toned it all down with white gesso, which added a mist look to the piece.

I love the end result, Need more paste, Must make more .

Awesome Hosier Lane by Lisa Oxley

Howdy Colour Blast Lovers, Lisa Here with a blog update. 

Today I have a layout to share with you.

If you follow my blog or Facebook, you may have seen this little video here, where I stenciled using 3 pieces of white cardstock. Trying to make the most of the stencil, and remove the square look to it when it sits on the page.

For this process I used these gorgeous Colour Blast pastes and

 created a gorgeous fade through of colours. The colours I used were Royalty, Singin' The Blues, Envy, Apple of My Eye, Just Blue.

 During the drying process I spritzed the page lightly with water and added a little distress ink and a little Dylusions purple ink on the other side of the page.

 I also added some Shimmer spray

 In these colours 

  I found some old Tim Holtz Grungeboard and covered it with turquiose paint and while still wet, powdered the piece with Colour Blast Envy Embossing Powder, then heat set it .

Here is the final piece, (photos a little dull due to the crappy weather and no good light) finished with stamps, rub-ons, drippy black house paint, washi tape, and my usual details and layering of Tissue paper.

I kept the embellies to a minimum ,and let the photo, the background and the journaling/title be the focus.

So Very Grateful - By Lisa Oxley

Howdy Bloggers, Lisa Here with a Colour Blast update .

Today, I have a quick layout to share with you.

I love this Moroccan stencil,oh those classic patterns that NEVER date, how I swoon over thee.

So I took 2 Dylusions paints, oh I love the new cherry pie colour, and roughly spread it onto the page with a palette knife then using a wet one I smeared the paint across the page,through the stencil.

I also added a little white paint on top of the to add a little contrast.

Colour Blast time, Bling Colour Blast Coloured Paste in combo with this fab flower stencil.

3 elements of course, design principles and all that :)

I also spritzed some muslin with some shimmery colour blast shimmer spray 

 A layout for me isn't complete without scribble, stamping and drippy house paint.

 To complete this layout, a little music tissue paper and spritzed muslin, washi tape, a transparency film strip, blossoms, and me and my big ideas chippy pieces .

Two for One

Today I'm sharing 2 pieces.One a simple layout,one a piece I've shared elsewhere but ,its so full of gorgeous lush Colour Blast goodness I just had to share.

This simple background has been created using Colour Blast Texture paste in

 "Envy" and "Apple of my Eye".

Some stamping and doodling to add a few extra details and interest to the background.

Matting the photo with black cardstock,tissue paper,muslin spritzed with Deep Water and Apple of my Eye Colour Blast Shimmer spray add to the basic design layout.

To finish, a little Title work and basic where ,when, who, complete this piece.

This piece was a challenge I completed recently,if you'd like to full how -to go here.

Basically I used the AMMMMMMMazing 

Colour Blast colour paste in combination with a fabulous mandala style CWS stencil, 

to create this groovy Dream Catcher.

Lots of Drippy house paint in lovely bright colours,my signature WOW feather stencil and some stamps,blooms,and font finish this fun cool challenge

Today I am sharing a layout created in two parts , 

So unfortunately I can't really share with you visually the process of Acrylic paints, stencils and house paint .

Typically I never create a layout for a photo, I just create backgrounds and see which one works for my photo.This is one of those backgrounds.

After the first acrylic background process,

 I have used Deep Water Colour Paste and a Moroccan stencil pattern, to add texture to the layout.

After ample drying time, I have added extra detail with stamps and posca doodling.

For my Embellishment Details I have used Colour Blast colour shine in Bliss and Apple of my Eye on a piece of Muslin to place behind my matted photo..

 I painted a few pieces of Moroccan WOW chipboard pieces with Dylusions paints,which helps support the Colour Blast Embossing Powders richness and I used a heat tool to fix the powder,

  I used "Royalty", "Fire Engine" and "Deep Water" on these WOW chippy pieces.

Here's My finished piece, A celebration of Friendship and Connection.

A photo from a retreat last year, very close to home,

possibly one of my top 3 venues to enjoy a super relaxing creative weekend of arty fun.

Be Brave & Magic Wild by Lisa Oxley

ok so when I am creating any piece of arty goodness the background is where its all at for me .
I love using texture and colour to create impact and attract attention, and then add extra details to draw the viewer into the piece even more.
Using a combination of different mixed media mediums
one can create seriously amazing unique visual backgrounds.
For this background, I have used a combo of plain white textured paste, Dylusions and Colour Blast Colour Sprays and Colour Blast Coloured Pastes.

Check out the shimmer in this paste , sooooo glorious 

After Drying time I've added a little drippy black housepaint, while that dries I spritz a little muslin with Deep Blue Colour Blast Coloured Spray and set aside to dry.

A spritz of "Bling" Colour Blast Coloured Spray give a shimmer all over your work.

Final Background details include a little grid stamping and doodling over the page.

Then various washi tapes that support the colours in my photo.

Extra elements include Sheet Music Paper, the Muslin and

 always for me, a black matt for my photo to support the black I use in every layout I create.

To highlight and bring focus to the photo I have Embossed a 

Words or Whatever Chipboard Clock face with Deep Blue Embossing Powder.

I love the effect of the embossed frame over the photo.

A few more embellies and my layout is complete .
