Black Fairy with Selena Stevens

Today I wanted to show you my take on this months Colour Blast challenge using a sketch for inspiration. To participate in this challenge go to the Colour Blast Creative Corner page.

If you prefer there is a video available for you to watch here or below.

So, lets begin...

To begin with I sprayed my art journal with Colour Spray (Violet, Bubblegum and Grape) and Colour Shimmer Spray (Punch) and let the colours mix and drip together.

While the page was wet, I sprinkled some Colour Shimmer Dust (Lollipop & Velvet) onto it and sprayed some water to get the Colour shimmer Dust to dissolve.  Then I drew some flowery shapes with a paintbrush through the wet areas.

White Heavy Gesso was watered down and splattered over the wet Colour Shimmer Dust.

While waiting for my page to dry I a painted all the chipboard pieces with the Black Heavy Gesso.

A thick layer of Black Heavy Gesso was applied through a stencil and Colour Mica Powder (Peach Nectar) was sprinkled on top.  I half dried this with a heat gun to stop the Black Heavy Gesso oozing and changing the shape of the stencil.  The force of the heat gun spread the Colour Mica Powder adding a fine shimmer.

Colour Paste (Singin the Blues) was smeared across the page in several areas with a palette knife and left to dry.

Once the chipboard pieces were dry, Colour Shimmer Spray (Punch) was sprayed and let to drip.

The chipboard pieces were then glued onto the page and its finished.

Now for some details shots.  I hope you enjoyed it.

Until next time.
Selena
