Today, I'm sharing a fun and vibrant layout. We all love scrapbooking and memory keeping. The Bee Arty Paper Collection come handy here. The patterned papers and coordinated elements work well for such projects.

I have used the paper and added texture with a stencil, and stamping. A little colour using the micas and then for the layers I've fussy cut elements as well as used dies to cut elements. 

I was inspired by the current challenge on Bee Arty Creative Hive. I incorporated the colours and the sketch.

Using up scraps I Mixed Media I Birthday Card I Sunila Mahajan

 Hello lovelies,

Sunila here, and I'm back with inspiration for you'll. Many times when using paper collections, we end up with odd sized paper scraps that we don't feel like discarding as the pattern is so pretty.

Today, I'm using these to create a layered greeting card. 

Here's a look at the card:

I picked out a pattern paper piece, and depending on its size, I chose my card base size. I like leaving a nice white border on my cards. This time though, I played a lot with the white space.

I cut out pieces that would add the sentiments and layered them. I used the pattern paper to mimic a pocket, to hold the flower bouquet.

I die cut flowers and leaves with other scraps of paper and layered them. I competed it with sequins and mica powder and shimmer dust colour splatter.

I created this tag to showcase one of my favourite techniques that I love to do and I thought, what better paper collection than using the vibrancy of colour that the Fireworks collections designed by Queenie Y offers.

This technique could easily be adapted to suit a scrapbook layout and would look amazing on a card or journal page.  Enjoy and I hope you are encouraged to have go.

Images 1a – 1b – 1c

1a – Cut the magical scrapbooking paper into around 5mm thick strips (you can use other offcuts from your stash also).  Cut from the white cardstock a large tag (95mm X210mm).  Cut the tag shape from the bonfire scrapbooking paper.

1b and 1c – Cut similar size cuts into the tag shape (also around 5mm thickness – this can vary also if preferred).  Begin weaving the blueish strips through the tag (follow the pattern -  row 1 under and over then row 2 over and under – each row is opposite to the previous row threading).  

N.B. don’t despair if you notice you have mis-threaded at some point, it will not be that noticeable at the end.

After each row gently push the strip upwards to secure. There will be lots of overhand that will be dealt with later.

 

 

 

Images 2d – 2e

2d and 2e -  Continue threading until you reach the bottom.  Use a craft knife to level the cut lines if necessary.  Also, as you get towards the end it becomes a little more difficult but work it.  when threading complete cut all the excess strips back to the edge of the tag. Add a dot of liquid adhesive at the end of each row to secure the strips, 4 edges (top and back of tag).

Mask off the candles on the candles stencil so that only the stars border is going to be added to the tag.  Apply the colour paste with a catalyst tool (or palette knife) through stars on the stencil.  N.B. in this sample I used Fire Engine (I thought I was picking up Rose Petal but I ran with it and think it is okay – oopsie!!).   Allow to dry.

4h – Run the on-point die through the die-cut machine onto white cardstock, twice.

4g -  Using a blending brush or similar tool, dab some of the colour paste onto left over one of the die cut shapes (I did 2 coats).

Add double-sided tape onto the white tag then secure the bonfire tag over the white tag to give extra stability.

-          Add some splatters in coordinating colours ( used teal and red) to the tag. 

-          Cabochons – colour the bottom of the domes with paint pens (teal and red), allow to dry.

-          Secure the white die cut shape to the top of the tag (with large triangle facing to top of tag).  Next, secure the coloured die shape with liquid adhesive -  large triangle facing towards the bottom of tag.  Outline the shapes with fine black pen

-          Add the cabochons to the tag with high stick adhesive; large, small (red) small, large as per sample)

-          Distress the tag border with black archival ink

-          Add appropriate quote and embellishment.  I chose this butterfly as the colours reflect the background colours.

Inspired Art Journaling with YCP

Fireworks Waikiki Beach by Tracey Campbell

 Aloha my creative Bee Arty crew, it is Tracey Campbell here with my latest Creative Team project to share with you. I have recently been away on two weeks holiday with my family, we had a great time in Hawaii and one of the highlights were the Friday night Fireworks on Waikiki Beach. I managed to get a few photos which I jsut knew I had to team with the Bee Arty Fireworks collection.

To start off my layout I cut three of the cards from the Showtime paper from the Fireworks Collection. As I was scrapping my fireworks photos I picked the two cards with the fireworks on them and used a craft knife to cut out the image where it overlapped with the white space. 

I then slipped the photos under the cut out firework so that it sits overlapping the photo. 

Cut two strips of patterned paper. The first strip needs to be12 inches by 1 cm in length from the Magical patterned paper.  The second strip should be 12 inches by 3 cms from the Bonfire patterned paper. Run the strips along the righthand side of a 12x12 sheet of white cardstock. 

Using the Fireworks stencil, three coloured inks that matches the patterned papers and a dauber, ink the image. 

This is how the stencilled image looks with the three colours daubed through it.

For the second image I used a baby wipe and spread the excess ink from the first image through the stencil onto the cardstock. 

This creates a dull faded image, as you can see in the photo above.

Next use the straw from a bottle of Sunshine Colour Shimmer Spray and flick some droplets over the stencilled fireworks.

This is how the background looks after the Colour Shimmer Spray is dry.

Next fussy cut the letters of the title from the Alphabet patterned paper, the word "Fireworks" from the Colourful patterned paper and the fireworks from the Bunting patterned paper.

Arrange the photos and fussy cut elements so that it reflects the final layout.

Using the cards as mats for photos is a quick and effective way to use them in your scrapbooking layouts. Mahalo for stopping by and I hope that I have given you a bit of inspiration.

2nd Birthday by Tracey Campbell

 Hello everyone, it is my turn on the blog today and I wanted to show you my latest 12x12 layout that I created using the Fireworks Collection. Have you seen it? It is such a delightful collection, full of fun exciting papers that burst with colours. Perfect for Birthdays, celebrations and special occasions.  

I've used it to create a fun layout for Bronte, my oldest daughters 2nd Birthday, a day we celebrated with family and friends with a little party for her.

The first step I did was to spread some clear gesso through the starts and circles on the Fireworks A4 Stencil  onto some white cardstock, I concentrated the images across the top of the page and then the bottom left and right hand corners. 

While the clear gesso was drying I fussy cut out some of the images from the Bunting patterned paper. I chose two pieces of cake, four balloons, two party hats and a bow. I also cut out two word blocks from the Colourful patterned paper.

Once the clear gesso was dry I lightly sprinkled some Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust over the 12x12 white cardstock. 

Next I activated the Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust with some water. 

This is what the Colour Shimmer Dust looked like after it was dry.

While the Colour Shimmer Dust was drying I cut five 20x8 cm rectangles from the following patterned papers; Bonfire x 2, Magical, Big Hugs and Sparkles. I then placed a strip of double sided sticky tape across the top of the rectangle and used fringing scissors to cut along the length of the rectangle, up to the tape. If you don't have fringing scissors you can do single cuts with normal scissors. I used both the A and B side of the Bonfire patterned paper, so that I had both a yellow and orange length of fringed paper.

Take of the double sided tape and layer the fringed paper over the top of each other in the centre of the Shimmer Dusted white cardstock. I started with yellow, then orange, the purple in the middle with green and finally blue on top. 

Use the same coloured patterned papers and double matt two 9x7cm photos. 

Adhere a 6x6 inch photo in the centre of the fringed paper and position the two smaller photos to either side. Adhere with strong double sided tape of some clear drying glue as it can be difficult to get the photos to stick to the fringed paper securely.

Using the Numbers Metal Die and the Uppercase Stamp Set make the title for the page. I used the "2nd" from the Numbers Metal Die set and cut it out from the Bonfire patterned paper. I then used a waterproof black ink and the Uppercase Stamp Set to stamp the word "Birthday".

When the black ink was dry I made some water colour paint with a small amount of Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust and painted the thicker parts of the letters from the Uppercase Stamp Set. When they were dry I fussy cut them out.

Last I put the layout together by using 3 dimensional tape to stick the fussy cut elements out around the photos, I added some string to the balloons to make it seem like they are flying through the air and I rant the title under the centre photo.

I hope that I have inspired you to take a look at the Fireworks Collection, it truly is a beautiful collection with so mush versatility.

I started with some white cardstock and drew hugs and kisses (XOXO) with the Leviathan Marking Crayon. I then painted watered Colour Shimmer Dusts - Cobalt, Jacaranda and Lollipop over the XOXOs.

To the background I also added:

* Stamping - the star bursts and mini hearts from the Fireworks Uppercase - Clear Stamp Set, and

* Splatters - once the background was dry I added black splatters from Colour Artist Dye Ink {Soot} and splatters from Colour Shimmer Dust {Cobalt and Lollipop} 

Extras:

* Added some papers from the Firework collection, as well as fussy cutting some of the black and white elements from the Collection paper. I painted black and white cut outs with  Colour Shimmer Dust {Lollipop} 

* Die cut  Chit Chat - Metal Die Speech bubbles with white and black cardstock. Painted white pieces with Colour Shimmer Dust {Cobalt} 

* Painted a Charms Creations DIY banner with Colour Shimmer Dust {Cobalt} also and added stamped mini-hearts.
