 Hello Arty Bees!!

It's Belinda here with you today to share my latest layout for Bee Arty featuring the Electric Dreams Mini Collection.

I started my layout by spritzing my 350gsm White Cardstock with a liberal amount of water. I then used a soft wet paintbrush to pick up some Fluro Yellow Colour Blast Mica Powder and applied it to parts of the wet area. I played around with the colour on the page making sure the powder was all mixed in with the water and spreading it around a little. I then repeated this process using the Fluro Pink Mica Powder. I picked up some of the colour and flicked it over the page too.

I dried my page with a heat gun and then added some stencilling using the Circulate A5 Stencil and both the Fluro Pink and Fluro Yellow Colour Blast Colour Pastes.

Next I added some stamping using the Watermark Clear Stamp Set and a fluro green ink pad and the Embrace Change Say It Clear Stamp Set with a fluro pink ink pad. 

I added a couple of pieces of cropped patterned paper from the Electric Dreams Mini Collection. Then I die cut a frame using the Frame Metal Die. I painted the frame with some of the Fluro Pink Mica Powder mixed with water.

I fussy cut some plus signs from the Electric Dreams patterned paper, painted them with the Mica Powders and added to my page once dry. I added a couple of fluro Charm's Creations too.

To finish, I added my title and a quote cut from the Electric Dreams patterned papers.

Thank You by Tracey Campbell

 Hi Be Arty Crew, it is Tracey Campbell here with a bit of a mix-match - I am changing a background that I created in one of our Bee Arty Live days into a new layout but also teaming it with another layout from an early Blog post from me to make a double. So stick around and if you follow the links you could potentially get inspiration for three separate layouts today. :) 

Here is the layout that I will take you through the step-by-steps for using the Electric Dreams Mini Collection and the Fluro Mix Media, then in the very bottom of this post you will see I added extra bits to create a double from it.

Today I have used this photo of my two daughters actually being nice together and smiling at the same time!! A bit rare at times in this household. On this particular day I was just trying to get a nice photo of them together but do you think they would co-operate??? Nope. I snapped about 50 photos before getting this one, hence the title "Thank You!"

So here is where the mix-match starts. I had this background layout left over from a Bee Arty Live that I filmed. I created some of the steps for the background ahead of the filming as I knew that if I waited for the media to dry while filming it would go on forever!! So now I have a few backgrounds to crate with.... but I wanted to change them a bit to create a new look.

You don't have to create the whole background, stop just after I have added the thin black paper strips to it. (Psstt, I'm going to let you all know a little secret.... the Bee Arty Team are planning their next Live on Facebook for the 30 Oct, shhhh don't tell anyone I told you....actually do, the more the merrier for the Lives!!)

So this is the photo that took 49 attempts to get! Using some paper from the Electric Dreams Collection I matted it with some of the black paper with white Xs on it, leaving about a 3mm boarder on the top, left and bottom sides. I left a 1.5cm boarder on the right hand side,  I then used a distressing tool on to create a rough edge all the way around. I cut out the pieces of the chevron strip from the cut-a-part sheet in the Electric Dreams Collection and adhered it to run down the right hand side of the photo next I fussy cut a few of the circles from the hand-drawn circle paper and adhered them on the large boarder, tucked under the photo. 

The matted photo was then placed into the centre of the background where the mixed media comes to meet. See the final layout for the exact positioning. 

Next I wanted to give the background a bit of a different look so I decided to turn the thin black strips into arrows, creating more movement towards the photos. For this I cut a few thin strips, about 7 mm, from the black paper with the white Xx then used a distressing tool to rough up the right hand side of the strip. I then adhered them so that they would overlap the other paper strips on the background, building up the thickness for my arrow base. I didn't actually have any length in mind when doing this so I just tore off the end at the length I thought it suited.

After the strips for the arrows I had to create the heads, so it was just a matter of cutting three triangles, distressing them and using 3dimenstional tape to add a bit of height when I adhered them to the layout.

While cutting the arrow heads I also cut a few extra circles out from the same paper I used for the circles on the photo mat and a few fun words from the cut-a-part sheet. Adhere the fussy cut circles and words to the layout, see the final layout for the positioning.

I picked a title and used a few Thickers to create a title. If you remember earlier on I said that I was going to use a layout I created in an earlier post to help create a double, well this is the link to that layout. Just one nice photo ..... please! Check it out to see how I created the left hand side of my double page.

It was at this stage that I put my two layouts together to see how I could link them together to create a double layout, I already knew that both layouts had the Electric Dream Collection and that I had distressed some of the elements..... so I was thinking that I could use the fussy cut circles to tie the layouts together. 

What I ended up doing is using the circles and over lapped them onto both pages but snipped them in the centre so that the two pages were separated.

Here is the final creation and how three layouts have merged to create a double. I had triple the fun with this one.

Hope you're all doing well! Today I'm sharing an art journal page with you'll, in my square watercolour journal. 

Since I love art journaling, I love experimenting with different shapes, sizes and paper textures of journals. 

Before I jump into the step by step process, here's a look at my page.

Here's a step by step process of creating this page:

Step 1- Mist the page with water, where you'd like to add colour. I was working on the opposite ends of the page. Using a fan brush next, I sprinkled the Mica powders, one colour at a time. I let this to dry naturally.

I love the play of colours here.

Step 2-  I chose a few background stamps and randomly stamped them with black ink. 

This gave me various textures to further build my composition.

Step 3- I picked out a few stencils and added a next layer of texture with the black ink again.

Step 4- I completed the page with a few die cut elements, phrases, white, purple and blue splatter.

'I Spy With My Little Eye' by Sandi Spink

 Hi, everyone. I have been having fun with the new fluoro colours and incorporated my love of journaling with my love of art on canvas. For today's blog post I'd like to share my process of my latest canvas art 'I Spy With My Little Eye'.

Products used:

A4 black canvas

White A4 card stock

Fluoro mica powders :colours- Green, Orange, Pink, Yellow

Colour Blast Colour Paste- 'Stormy Weather' 

A range of Colour Blast stencils- 'Boxed in'. 'Free Hand', 'Lined',

Stamps: 'Making Tracks' and past stamps including an eye and script stamp

Black and white gesso

Black Archival ink

Drawing ink black and white

Tissue paper or paper dress making pattern

Gel medium- as a glue

Arrows and phrase from kits. 

 

Step1- I drew and then cut out sections from the white A4 to make a template/stencil.

Step 2- I smeared white Gesso using a spatula over 3 of the outer sections, then I mixed the Fluoro yellow with some white gesso and smeared the mixture over the remaining outer sections carefully ensuring a straight edge was made. I smeared a small amount of the yellow mix onto the white sections to connect the areas. 

Step 3- I made a mix of the Fluoro Orange and white gesso to partially fill the rectangle left in the centre, I smeared some orange into the other sections to connect them to the centre colour palette.

Step 4- Using the old dress makers pattern I stamped 2 images of the Eye stamp with Black Archival ink 

- I tore around the stamped images,…. images blend better without straight edges…
 

Using the gel medium as a glue I coated the backs of the images and glued them onto the canvas.

Step 5: I added layers of different coloured shapes using black gesso and continued to add further layers with a variety of stencils, stamps and drawing ink.

I also added colour using the fluoro powders to the eyes adding a very small amount of water to the powder (a drop) to ensure depth of colour. 

 

 

Step 6- I added the final layer that included a Phrase ‘ I spy with this little eye” which I double backed to make it stand out, and some arrows I painted with fluoro paint.
