This collection provides great opportunities to celebrate special occasions in a fun and very cute way.  As an art journaler and mixed media artist I looked at this collection with a different lens - Firework was a very successful song by Katy Perry and is a great addition as 'dance party music' so I created a journal page with the chorus lyrics as a link to the collection.  Of course a photo could be used to create a celebration layout.  Enjoy the process and hope you have lots of fun with this collection.

Textured background –

a) Lay out three small amounts of texture paste out onto a palette.  Using a Craft Powder Spoon

small amounts of Colourblast Shimmer dust – passion, lollipop, amber to the paste, mix thoroughly.

b)  Carefully spread the mixes through the Fireworks A4 stencils creating a rainbow effect e.g. begin with passion mix, then lollipop mix in middle with amber at the end of the spray/stars. I added the paste across the top of the page. Allow to dry.

 

c)     Once dry, brush a small amount of Modge Podge dimensional magic over the textured stencilled areas to create some shine to the fireworks.

d)     Add Music A6 stencil to the remaining parts of the cardstock using Gesso, a makeup sponge or dauber  by lightly pouncing the gesso through the stencil. Dry off.

e) Add some fire burst ‘ghost’ stamping around the sheet using the Uppercase stamp set and black ink.

Wording and song lyrics

a)     Carefully add the word F I R E W O R K to the page using Uppercase stamp set and Archival Ink Pad Jet Black.  Add detail colour to the stamping using blue, orange, violet, pink (Life of colour pens or paint pens). 

b)    Write the Chorus lyrics of the song to the page (type or write onto cardstock if preferred).  Add a loose (double border around the text using black paint pen, then colour using the same colours as before).

   

Focus Image/Photo -

a)     Cut out the rocket tag from Showtime Tag Sheet, add an image/photo cut to size to fit inside the white area of the tag.  Cut out three ‘rockets’ from the Bunting (rockets).  Then die-cut the Party metal die and the party hat from the Fireworks Cardstock – Big hugs paper (back - quad sheets) and the words dance party music from the  Colourful word sheet.

b)     Mount the photo tag to the bottom of the page using thick mounting tape, then adhere the rockets, party hat and bunting to the page.  Add the words sentiment to the image also.

c)     Add a border to the cardstock sheet using the violet and black paint pens.

Happy New Year everyone!!   On the blog today I have created an ‘off the page’ project using a framed canvas board from Eckersley’s Art store, but a standard canvas or journal book could be used as an alternative.

Bee Arty products used:

White Cardstock 350gsm250gsm A4 sheet

Gesso white to prepare the canvas

Darice 6 well paint palette

Versamark Stamp pad translucent

Embossing powder – Stormy Night

Shimmer dust – Navy, Midnight, Passion, Lollipop and Peacock

Eye spy stamp

Gridlock A6 stencil

Craft Powder Spoon

 

Other products and tools used:

Stamp Press

Eckersley’s – Jasart Floating Canvas Board

Heat Tool

Acrylic Paint; DW Ocean and A by M Mermaid

Small round paint brushes

Make up sponge or dauber/blending tool

Fussy cut scissors

‘Strong’ die cut  (own stash) use stamps or other word to suit

Teal Foil Card (own stash)

Pipette

Posca Pen or equivalent  (white)

Texture paste or moulding paste

Masking tape

 

    

Mask the floating frame with masking tape to protect from the shimmer paints etc.

 

 

Cover the canvas board with a coat of Gesso and dry off.  Then apply 2 coats of Ocean paint drying between each coat.

 

 

Add a small amount of Ocean paint to a palette with a small amount of Gesso or white paint.  Tap the makeup sponge(dauber) into the paint (do not mix the paint … you want to apply an ‘ombre’ style effect of colour through the stencil.  Using the Gridlock A6 stencil gently pounce the two colours through the stencil.  Shift the stencil around to cover the canvas board.  Don’t be concerned if the colour looks a little messy. Dry off a little. Do the previous step 2 to 3 times more adding a little more white colour to lighten for each layer.  Be sure to end in a ‘whiteish’ layer to finish off.  Dry off.

Spread the texture paste through the Gridlock A6 stencil over the surface.  Allow to dry completely.

 

 

 

In the meantime prepare quantities of the Shimmer dust (Navy, Midnight, Passion, Lollipop and Peacock) colours in the   Darice 6 well paint palette using a  Craft Powder Spoon  … add some water to each colour and mix thoroughly.   Test the colours to ensure they are rich in colour before adding to canvas.

 

 

Prepare the area with a piece of paper towel to absorb the run-off of shimmer colours.  Lightly spray the canvas area (image below) then using a small round brush drip the colours onto the canvas

 

 

I began with Lollipop then Passion and finally Navy Shimmer dust.  

Allow to dry then apply more if needed.

 

 

   

Finally apply some of the Midnight Shimmer dust .  Lay the canvas flat for this step to keep the colour towards the top of the canvas with only a few drips across the canvas allowing under layers to show through.

 

 

Once dry, water down some Mermaid paint (A by M) to add some splatters over the canvas.

 

 

   

Apply the Eye spy stamp to the stamp press with a sheet of White Cardstock 250gsm A4 sheet paper, cover the stamp with a generous layer of Versamark Stamp pad translucent.  Imprint the stamp onto the white card.

Sprinkle a generous amount of Stormy night Embossing powder over the stamp imprint.  Activate the powder using a heat tool. 

Using a small paint brush apply the Shimmer dust around the outside area of the stamp being careful not to colour the eye area.  Again, I added the lollipop, passion then navy in turn to cover the stamped area.  Dry off, then add more colour if necessary.  Dry off.

Pupil area apply some peacock Shimmer dust to the iris carefully.  Dry off.

 

 

Carefully fussy cut the stamped image from the card keeping as much of the lined detail as possible.

Adhere the stamped image to the top area of the canvas board.  Before doing this the image was raised by adding two pieces of cardboard to the back of image then adhered to the board.

 

Word … using the foil card run a word diecut (strong) through the machine then adhere the word to the bottom area of the canvas board.  Remove the masking tape and the project is complete.

Attitude is everything .... by Linda Pearson

 

Today I am creating a journal page using the latest release from Bee Arty ... Chit Chat designed by Tanya Froud.  You can of course transform this to a scrapbooking layout by adding a photo if preferred.  Enjoy and happy creating...

Cut the My heart 12x12” paper to suit an A4 journal page.

Place a line of Colour artist inks – slipper across the top of the page, spritz the ink with water to create ‘drippages’ down the page.  Dry off. 

Repeat this drippage process using the Colour artist inks – oasis.  Dry off.

            

 

Using the lined portion of the OXOXO A5 stencil apply the stencil across the tope of the inked section with black archival ink.  Then add the line of circles to this area also.

Add stamped marks around the page using a section of the Marked A6 stencil (mask off using masking tape). 

 

In a small palette add a small account of Colour artist inks – slipper with some water, fill in some of the circles and hearts that had been stamped.

 

 

                       

 Run the Linked in diecut through a diecut machine imprinting onto a section of White Cardstock 350gsm , then chop the wire shape in half lengthways.  Sprinkle Embossing powder – lipstick (I added a little lollipop shimmer dust to the powder) over the die cut piece then heat set the powder.

 

Apply Versamark Stamp pad translucent to the Happy Clear Stamp on another piece of White Cardstock 350gsm.  Sprinkle Embossing powder – singing the blues over the stamped image then heat set the powder. 

Add some splattering to the page using a watery mix of  Colour artist inks – Soot around the page.  Dry off.

Fussy cut the stamped image and paint in a little Colour artist inks – slipper with some water mix to the heart and 2 people images.  Fill in the stamped card with a small mix of Colour artist inks – peacock with some water. 

Glue down the 2 pieces of Linked in diecut to the page.

 

Cut out the ‘Attitude is Everything’ Wording from the Chit Chat collection pack word sheet.  Add mounting tape to the back of the words and the stamped image and adhere to the page.

'Take a trip journey to travel' by Sandi Spink

 

 I love revisiting my favourite trips and memories, that why I enjoy photography and making art journals.

Using 'Destination Anywhere' designed by Queenie T, I created my own handmade journal to keep some of my memories of my Swiss holiday and I'd like to share with you how I made it.

Products used from the Destination Anywhere kit:

Step1,2 & 3

• I selected a range of pages and ripped or cut them into different sizes and a edges. 

• Folding them provided me with a booklet style journal. 

• I cut out a plane using the Diecut template 'Transport', some words, tags and phrases.
  

Step 4 & 5:

• To add texture I applied white gesso over different section of the pages with the 3 different stencils.
  

Step 6 & 7:

• To add another effect I used the front of the stencil before the gesso dried and placed it onto a page and used a wet one to rub it over the stencil which left a shadow effect.  On another page I placed gesso over the spotted section and then smeared gesso over it with my soft sponge brush.
  

Step 8:

• I also smeared some onto a plain page and when dry dropped small amounts of artist ink 'rust' and wiped it with the same soft sponge brush. 

• A few other ink colours were dropped from a height to produce large splats.
  

Step 9:

• After completing the base additions to the pages I built up the layers with the smaller sections of papers, phrases, natural material elements and photos. The journal was completed by staking the pages together and tying a piece of natural string around the folded sections twice and tying off.
