"Create", by Amanda H.

Hello Colour Blast fans!

This weekend, I have the pleasure of teaching for Colour Blast at the Brisbane Papercraft and Scrapbooking Expo. Part of the gig is to create a display in the exhibition hall. I decided to create an off the page item for my display - a big "create" word!

Here is a sneak peek of it.....

Now let me show you the steps I took to create it.

I found this big MDF word at Spotlight.

I started by giving it a couple of coats of White Heavy Gesso.
Also with White Heavy Gesso I used a metal spatula through a script stencil on the word.

Next I grabbed by Colour Artist Inks. I wasn't sure when I started what colours I would use. But in the end I went with: Mermaid, Citrus, Lime and Oasis.

I wanted to create an ombre effect. So I loaded colour at the bottom of the word, and water on the top. Using a paint brush, water spray bottle and heat gun, I pushed colour down the word and lighten the colour near the top.
I merge one colour into the next as I went from letter to letter in the word.
I was pretty happy with how the colour turned out.
Here are some close ups of how the colour from the Colour Artist Inks dried on the word.
Once dry, I used Colour Paste in Bling through a heart stencil to add some gold in a few places on the word.
I chose some pieces of chipboard, and then inked them gold and heat embossed them using Colour Embossing Powder in Bling.
I started choosing and sticking embellishments to the word, and then decided to add some splatters of gold using Colour Shimmer Cube in Bling.

I also used the Shimmer Brush Marker in gold to add some gold along the edges of the word.

And here is the final word... I love these colours, plus the touches of gold look lovely.
And check out all the colours and details in these close ups!

I cannot wait to share photos of my display from the Expo with you. And cannot wait to see how my "create" word looks!
Amanda
