Hi everyone!
Today I am sharing a project created completely from items from my recycling bin.
Add some Colour Blast products and transform your 'trash' into 'treasure'!
Here's a look at my finished project-
So let's take a look at the steps I took to create something
from a pile of 'bits and pieces'.
from a pile of 'bits and pieces'.
I traced around a plate onto some thick cardboard and cut it out for my base.
I collected lots of different lids, old texta lids, old baby toys etc
and cut out some small circles from corrugated card.
I also added some string. The idea was to
choose pieces with interesting shapes and textures.

I stuck all the pieces down with gel medium. Once it was completely dry I covered everything with Black Heavy Gesso.
I added two coats to make sure everything had a good coverage
and to completely cover the colours underneath.

To start adding my layers of colour I firstly used some sprays.
I used Colour Sprays in Saffron, Lagoon, and Rainforest.
I also used some Colour Shimmer Sprays (which really shine on a black background)
in Singin The Blues, Deep Water, and Tangareen Dream.
The next step to really bring my piece to life was to add some Colour Paste in random areas. I used Apple Of My Eye, Tangareen Dream, Steel, Bling and Leather.
While that was drying I die cut some cogs from cardboard, inked then
heat embossed with a range of Colour Embossing Powders.
I used Leather, Bling, Tangareen Dream and Sienna.
Using different colours on each stage helped
to add a depth of colour and create an 'aged' look.
Lastly I used my finger to run over a light coat of
White Heavy Gesso to highlight the textures.
I also added some quote stickers.
Some close ups.
I hope I have given you some inspiration to see what you can create with everyday items, and I guarantee you will not look at your recycling bin the same way again!
Thanks for looking
