Remember this: Storms don't last forever - Anguree Jansen Van Rensburg

Hello everyone

I'm back on the blog today sharing a layout with a bit more of a somber tone. We all have those days or times when things are not exactly peachy.

Monochromatic layouts are a perfect way to express these feelings and just because Colour Blast, true to its name, includes an array of bright chirpy colours, it does not mean that everything has to be colourful all the time. In fact Dusty Charcoal and Steel are 2 of my 4 favorites in the pastes, spray and embossing powder.

I started with a blank piece of white watercolour paper and sprayed on a little Roadbase Colour Spray, holding the spray quite close to the paper. I allowed it to run a little and dried it off with a heating tool.

Next I added Steel Colour Shimmer Spray and allowed it to run before I dried it. I repeated this process and dried it again.

I  then added more of the Roadbase Colour Spray and allowed it to run again before drying it off. Next I added some Dusty Charcoal Colour Paste through a stencil and allowed it to dry.  Once this was dry, I started laying down my photo and chipboard pieces from Scrap FX.

I felt that it needed a little more texture and added some stamping with black Archival Ink.

I embossed my chipboard  using DustyCharcoal and Steel Colour Embossing Powder. Next I added a piece of lace, journaling strips from Flutterby Designs and a few strands of cotton before finishing it off with glass glitter and micro beads. Lastly I matted my layout on black cardstock to frame it and add more contrast to the white background.

All done :) Please share your work with us in the Colour Blast Creative Corner on Face book and don't be shy to leave us comments or ask any questions.

Till next time, have fun playing xxx
