Beautiful by Tracey Campbell

Hello everyone it is my turn again here on the Colour Blast blog and this post will have you running for the Colour Shimmer Dusts and Colour Embossing Powders. If you don't have any yet make sure your pop into the store and order some in your favourite colours as they are a must have item for every scrapbooker's stash.

My layout is made simply by some heat embossing and the wonderful water technique of dissipating the Colour Shimmer Dust. Grab a cuppa and read how I create this layout.
Using some clear embossing ink stamp an image onto some white cardstock. I used a feather stamp and placed a few images diagonally across my page from bottom left hand corner to top right corner. Then I sprinkled some Snow White Colour Embossing Powder of the embossing ink.

I then poured off the excess Colour Embossing Powder back into the pot and used a heat gun to activate the embossing powder. As you can see the Colour Blast Colour Embossing Powder is such a great product that even the fine details on the stamped image are clear.

Next I sprinkled a little bit of the Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust over the embossed image and dissipated the dust with a light spray of water. If you like a true bright pink colour then make sure that you grab some of the Colour Blast products in Lollipop, it is such a stunning colour - one of my favourites.

Once the Lollipop Shimmer Dust was dry I used a clear embossing ink and stamped a few floral images over the Shimmer Dust. This time I used the Bling Colour Embossing Powder.

I was very careful with how I inked and embossed with the Bling colour as I wanted to make sure that none of the Bling colour remained on the Snow White Colour Embossed image as I wanted it to be a true white.

After I had carefully applied the Bling Embossing Powder onto the embossing ink I heated it with the heat gun. This is how the background page turned out - a lovely shimmery masterpiece. I wanted to add a pattern paper boarder so I trimmed the top and one of the sides off by 1 inch.

Now I worked on adding some torn strips of pattern paper, some sticker die cuts, some cotton thread and the photo to the layout.

After I had attached my textures and embellishments to the page I decided that the background needed a bit of darkness to it (the patterned paper that I boarded the background page with had dark blue in it and it didn't quite match) so I took out my Navy Colour Shimmer Dust and very carefully sprinkled a touch of the Shimmer Dust to my background.

The photo below shows you that you only need a teeny tiny amount to create a wonderful look. (Can you see the tiny amount of the Navy Shimmer Dust between the Bling Embossed leave and the torn green paper strip?)

Nest I activated the Navy Shimmer Dust with a light spray of water.

At this stage you have to be careful as the dry Lollipop Shimmer Dust will activate with the water too. Which is a handy tip to know as the colours blend together creating a combined look.

To finish off the layout I added some wood veneer hearts and a title that I heat embossed with the Bling Colour Embossing Powder

And finished the title with some vellum stickers.

I wanted the background to take on a subtle look so I didn't add any Gesso to the cardstock before using the Colour Shimmer Dust. By not priming the cardstock with Gesso it allowed for some of the Colour Shimmer Dust to absorb into it. If you want your Colour Shimmer Dust to be more bolder or brighter then prime your cardstock with a layer of Colour Blast Heavy White Gesso.

Thanks for stopping in, if you have any questions please just ask away in the comments section. I hope that you enjoyed my quick step by step and look forward to catching you next time.

 Hugs
Tracey
