April shares with Anita Rodway

Last weekend I got to head away for some 'me' time. I got to scrap with some of my favourite arty peeps. It was first time away from my 1yr old, but my arty soul need this time to rejuvenate. Nothing better than good food, fantastic company, drinks & full blown belly laughs to help you relax & centre yourself again.

Seeing as though it had been a over a year since I was alone (so to speak), I did initially have NO idea whatsoever on where to start creating LOL. I ended up getting myself a new black art journal & just started painting to see where it would take me. A good warm up when you've got a creative block ;)

Here's what I came up with...

'Breathe'

This page has lots & lots of layers. I would stop & start in between chatting & just pick from where I left off. Boy did I do some chatting LOL. It was good to have some adult conversation & not speak the words 'where are your pants?!'

I've mainly used my fingers as my paint brushes. Putting dollops of colour here & there. I used 'Lipstick' & 'Envy' Colour Blast pastes through 2 very different stencils, to add more depth to my pages. I've also used some splats of Colour Blast Shimmer Sprays over the top.

I finished off with some freestyled brush script with a word that best described me in that moment.
'Breathe'
That's exactly what I needed. No one to please but myself. Free to let go of anything weighting down on my shoulders & create without inhibitions. If you have never been to a scrapbooking retreat - I highly recommend you try it :)

So this is me doing a impromptu Colour Blast paste demo with some of the ladies from retreat. They loved how easy it is to apply & all that shimmer!!
There was a race to the Colour Blast stock after this - those moments always make me giggle.

Effortless backgrounds made super easy with some white cardstock & Colour Blast Pastes!!
I've used these colours in the below picture: Envy, Royalty, Lipstick & Sunshine

A big thank you to Lisa Oxley for taking these pics x

DT Departure Annoucement

Hi,

It is with great sadness that we say good bye to DT member Wilma Voermans.  Colour Blast has been fortunate to have Wilma as a DT member and are extremely grateful for this.

Best wishes to Wilma for the future.

Thank you
From the Colour Blast Team

"Enjoy" by Melissa Struhs

Hi Everyone! Ready for another creative weekend? I am hoping to find some time to play over the long weekend too. No doubt, there will be some Colour Blasting going on. In the meantime, here is a layout that I have recently created with the "Snow White" and "Bling" pastes and embossing powders.

On my background piece of white cardstock, I have used a damask stencil in a reverse "L"shape to create a intricate border along the edge.

It is only a few centimetres in from the edge, as I knew I wanted to add more layers later on.  I also added the same finish to a large cardstock mat as well.

The "Bling" has such a gorgeous brassy finish to it when it dries.

After I had incorporated a subtle chevron patterned paper and a kraft cardstock, I then used a dotted circled stencil to add some detail through the large vertical panel using the "Snow White" paste.

Here is a progress shot of the  "Snow White" paste dry (top) and wet (bottom).

I have been obsessed with using my metal embellishments with the embossing powders lately.

How simple is the heat and dip technique that I blogged about previously?

You can alternate colours and custom make some many beautiful pieces, totally unique for your project.

My title has been inked with white and then sprinkled with the "Snow White" embossing powder at the top...

heat set...and then repeat the process with "Bling" embossing powder on the lower half. Any residue that crosses over helps create an ombre effect when everything is heat set.

As you can see, I experimented with lots of metal embellishments while the embossing powders were open.

With a soft bristle brush, the "Bling" paste has been used sparingly around the edges of the white leaves,

on the seeded centres of blossoms

and around white cardstock matting.

Here's a couple of close up's so you can see how subtle

or bold the results can be.

Have any of these colours or techniques tempted you to visit the website to add to your stash? Visit the Colour Blast website or at any of your local stockist

Here's to a productive and happy weekend of Colour Blast Fun,
Melissa.

Card Series by Lynn Good

Hi there!!  Today I would like to share with you cards that I made using left over paper from my last layout and the Heartfelt Creations Stamps from the Winking Frog Collection.

This is the paper that I stamped with my stencil after the butterfly layout the I made earlier in the month.

I used Colour Blast Paste - Bling and a Kaisercraft Number Stencil over the entire paper

I sprayed it with Colour Blast Shimmer Spray -  Envy & Lipstick.

I then cut it into four pieces and edged with Distress Ink Pine Needles.

I stamped the images onto cardstock and painted with watercolour paints, edge with distress ink and adhered to the numbered cardstock -  Add a couple of Kaisercraft bling stones and 4 cards are done :)  Here are close up photos of  the other three cards that I made

I have linked the products used below.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time.............
Happy Crafting :)
