Layer upon layer upon layer! by Linda Pearson

The focus for the project in today’s blog involves building layers in your art journal backgrounds.  The embellishments added to finish off the page are die-cut shapes left over from my stash.

Bee Arty products used in the project:

-       Life of colour pens – black

-       Art Glitter Designer Adhesive

-       Shimmer dust Peacock, Navy, Lollipop

-       Craft Powder Spoon

Forever my always by Fiona Paltridge

-       Humps A6 stencil

-       Flux A6 stencil

-       Gesso – Bee Arty heavy primer 250ml White

Fearless Brave and Free collection by Fiona Paltridge

-       Flowers Metal Die

-       Frame Metal Die

-       Abstract Circles Metal Die

Other products used:

-       Texture Paste

-       3 small containers

-       Black Archival Ink

Apply 2 coats of Gesso to the page and dry off.

In containers add a quantity of Gesso to each, then add a tiny amount of Shimmer dust (peacock, duke and lollipop) to each container with the Craft Powder Spoon.

Mix individual colours.

With a paint brush apply the Navy gesso mix over the page.  Dry off.

Add more Gesso to the blue mix, apply the light coloured mix through the Humps A6 stencil with a silicone sponge randomly over the page.

Add another layer using the Humps A6 stencil but using only white Gesso.  Turn the stencil with different angles to randomly add the stencil around the page.

Wash stencil thoroughly.

This layer - using the Lollipop gesso mix apply through the Flux A6 stencil with a silicone sponge. No need to for perfection in these layers as much of the layer will be covered.  Dry off.

Next layer – add more Gesso to the lollipop mix, apply the light coloured mix through the Flux A6 stencil with a silicone sponge randomly over the page.   Dry off.

Finally apply white Gesso through the Flux A6 stencil, changing the angle of the stencil as you cover the page.  Dry off.

Add texture paste to the Peacock gesso mix, apply the paste through the Flux A6 stencil  in several spaces over the page.

Add more Lollipop and texture paste to pink mix, apply 2 spaces on the page.

Allow to dry thoroughly.

Outline the shapes using the Life of colour pens – black.

.

For this project I selected some leftover diecut shapes to embellish the page.

-       Flowers Metal Die

-       Frame Metal Die

-       Abstract Circles Metal Die

Stamp the words onto cardstock offcut with Archival Ink stamp pad in black. Cut out and distress the edges with black ink.

Add some spatters over the page in the blue and pink, this ties the composition together.

Adhere all the embellishments to the to the page.

Thank you for stopping by and happy creating.
