Garden of Mushrooms with Selena Stevens

Today I will sho you a mixed media journal page with colour and texture.

To watch the video click here.

I started on a page that had some left over paint left on it.  I glued tissue paper with matte medium over the page.  Colour Artist Ink (Sunburnt & Berry) was applied randomly over the page and sprayed with water to let the colour move around the page.

White Heavy Gesso was applied with a roller to blend in with the Colour Artist Ink and left to dry.

Black Heavy Gesso was used to create a border around the page with a sponge.

The mushrooms were painted in with three colours including the Black Heavy Gesso for the darkest areas.

Colour Embossing Powder (Deep Water) was mixed with WhiteHeavy Gesso to create a light blue tint with the granules of the Colour Embossing Powder being seen through the White Heavy Gesso.  This mixture was then scraped through a stencil with a palette knife to create the spots on top of the mushrooms.

Colour Artist Ink (Walnut) was painted onto the darkest area of the mushroom to add more shading.

A watermark pen was used to draw on details on the mushroom.  Colour Mica Powder (Wisteria) was brushed onto the moist areas and the excess was brushed off.

Black Heavy Gesso was scraped through a stencil followed by Colour Mica Powder (Wisteria) to add some details.

This brings us to the end of this mixed media art journal page.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Selena
