"LOVE" canvas by Rachel Dutko

Hi Colour Blast fans!

Today I have an 8"x10" canvas to share with you, inspired by the March challenge
over in the Colour Blast Creative Corner Facebook page -

Be Inspired By Texture!

I created my base colour on my canvas by mixing some Candy Colour Shimmer Dust with some clear gesso and applying it to the canvas with a palette knife for some chunky texture. I also used the top of the mixing pot to apply some more circles and texture.

Once it was dry I added some Fire Engine and Dusty Charcoal  Colour Pastes
through a stencil, making sure the first colour was dry before adding the second.
I also added some stamping.

I then added some White Heavy Gesso around the edges.

Next was to work on my paper layers.

I created a weaved paper layer for added texture.

Firstly I coloured some book pages with different shades of blue. I used Colour Sprays in Carribean and Lagoon, Peacock and Cobalt Colour Shimmer Dust, Polar Colour Mica Powder and Singin The Blues Colour Shimmer Cube.

I then cut some of the pages in to 1/2" strips.

Next I stuck the 'long' lengths down with washi tape to hold them together,
and started weaving the shorter lengths.

All the way to the top.

I added a piece of Kinder Kreations chipboard which I heat embossed with
Fire Engine Colour Embossing Powder.

Then it was time to put it all together with some embellishments from Flutterby Designs, Charm's Creations, D'Lish Scraps and Corbett Creations.
Some bakers twine, thread and ribbon added yet more texture.

Make sure to head over to check out all the inspiration on the
Colour Blast Creative Corner group on Facebook.

Thanks for looking

Rachel x x
