Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Tracey Campbell

Hello everyone, it is Tracey Campbell here today to share my latest creation using the Electric Dreams Mini Collection. A bright, bold, fun collection that is the perfect choice for those photos that are a little bit crazy!! Are you like me? When you take photos of your kids they start hamming it up and you take multiple photos just trying to get one nice photo? On this particular day a few times I ended up with at least 100 photo (thankfully we have digital photos now not still film) and I only got 1 nice photo. But I have all these extra ones of the girls being crazy but nice to each other...... which as they are going through the teenage years now it doesn't happen that often.

Anyhoo enough about my girls, lets scrap!

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

I have absolutely loved this collection and am down to a few full sheets left and lots of scraps, so I decided to pull the scraps and see what I could come up with.

I cut the scraps into various sized strips and cut a "V" into each small end of the strip.

Using one of my full sheets left from the Electric Dreams Mini Collection for the base, (the B side of the colourful doodled circle paper) this sheet is mainly white with large colourful script around the edges. I stamped the base sheet with the bubble stamp form the Bokeh Stamp Set and a waterproof black ink. You can use any background stamp that you wish to help emphases the subject in your photos.

This is the finished shape of the stamping that I have created for my background. A large stamped image on the left of the background and a small shape in the top right hand of the paper.

Next I mixed some pink Neon Colour Mica Powder with some water and splattered it across the stamped shapes with a paint brush.

At this stage I had found three 6.5 cm square photos of my daughters that I knew I was going to used in a portrait photo stack. I wanted to use a bit of the pink Neon colour as the mating for the photo stack but I didn't have any pink neon paper in my stash so I used the pink Neon Colour Mica Powder mixed with water to paint the edges of some white Card Stock. When it was dry I adhered the photos in a stack running down the mat.

Once the Colour Mica Powder slashes were dry I started to layer and over lap the paper strips across the left-hand side of the base.

Next I adhered the mated photo stack down over the top of the layered strips.

For the finishing touches I fussy cut some of the shooting stars, the hearts and a camera from the "B" side of the paper with the large black and white zig-zags from the Electric Dreams Mini Collection. Then I adhered them in three positions on the layout - you can see the positioning in the final layout. Lastly I used some foam letters to create a title that ran down the right-hand side just under the shooting star.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I have inspired you to use those not so perfect photos and to use you scraps from one of you favourite collections.

"Mask On" by Charmane Koch

Happy Friday Everyone! Hopefully it is anyway! I know I am glad it's Friday! I have 5 more days of work including this one, then it is HOLIDAY TIME! CAN>NOT>WAIT!

Today I thought I would share a layout I have been meaning to finish for ages! It went through a long process... firstly a while back I had a play with combining Colour Paste Snow White with Embossing Powder (I had excess of a mix of different Embossing powders I didn't want to throw out!} so I did a couple of backgrounds using Bee Arty Stencils... {check this blog post out!}

So I have had this background in my stash for quite a while. I used the Boxed In Stencil. I also have had the Covid papers to use for a while too, I knew I wanted to document Mask wearing, although had NO IDEA we would be wearing masks for so long! If you want to document Covid - there is an amazing Step by Step Mini Album you can create - FIND THE COVID MINI ALBUM HERE!

To colour my title, I have used a shimmer cube & a splash of water... here's a quick video... you could also use Shimmer Dust and water to create a similar effect!

I love the effect the Snow White Colour Paste and the Embossing Powder creates!

As you can see I have also added the Distance Stencil using the Envy Colour Paste. I did test out a few different Colour Paste colours to work out which one would match the best...

Loved the little Cut-Outs from the Covid Papers -

And here is the final layout! Lots of journalling on this one!

Thanks again for popping in & I hope I have inspired you to experiment with Snow White Colour Paste & Embossing Powders! It truly does give an awesome effect!

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all!

Cacti are bloomin created by Tracey Thorne

If you haven't heard the new paper range Whispering Woods is ready for purchase and has been created by Sue Smyth. I've been lucky to get my hands on the range and there is a lot of variety in the papers with lots of scope for varying projects to be created.

I have created 'Cacti are bloomin' to show the versatility of the papers and the cut outs in conjunction with the stamps. The Colour artist dye ink & Colour shimmer dust I have used complimented the 12x12 layout nicely.

I started with a base of 250gsm white cardstock and to this I have added Colour Artist Ink in Bordeaux and with a wet brush have mixed a little water to it. I have then used the kiss technique whereby I have picked up ink from a base and kissed the paper leaving a little of the colour on my white cardstock. I have added a little more colour & shimmer to the page by mixing up some of the Colour Shimmer Dust in Lollipop with water and then used the same technique to apply this to the page.

I cut the centre section out of a sheet of Whispering Woods 12x12 Forest Floor and placed this to one side for later use when backing the photos. I have then cut down the white cardstock quarter of an inch off all sides. I have then used a soft yellow ink to blend the edges of the page before adhering the printed cardstock border to the white page.

With the remainder of the Forest floor printed paper I created a photo mat.  I have cut them 2mm wider than my photograph. Before adhering to the photo mat I have inked the edges of my photo in black. I have chosen the little flower border stamp in the Whispering Woods Leafy Borders stamp set to create a border around the outer edge of the page. I have worked out placement of photos and added some texture to the page by using Texture paste and the Whispering Woods Sweet Flower stencil - this adds a lovely soft look to the page whilst still adding texture.

I have layered up one of  the photos using cardboard so it has height over the other photo which helps with depth on the page and adds a visual interest. Using the 12x12 Whispering Woods Woodland tags paper I have cut 2 tags and placed them under my photos. I have also cut out two of the magnolias and 3 butterflies from the Whispering Woods extra's sheet - similarly you could use the 12x12 Imagery printed paper. These were placed at opposite corners and the butterflies were scattered on the page. I have also cut out the mushroom elves and used them on the bottom right of the photo. I have accentuated the base by adding a little black water colour pencil for shading.

I have stamped out the corner flower stamp spray from the Whispering Woods Celebrate Nature stamp set. I did this using Archival black ink on tissue. This was then applied to the page using matte medium. I have then coloured the leaves of the tissue stamped images using Colour Mica powder in Envy. I added a little water to this prior to applying with a small paint brush.   A few final touches were a little black thread under the photo and adding the titles with a few of the fonts I have in my scrap supplies.

This is the final product. The Whispering Woods range has a lot of offer and is extremely versatile with the stamps and papers working so well together in a range of applications. I love how the papers tell a story on the page.

Have a fabulous week of creation

If you like this layout you can pop on over to the Facebook page and check out my mini movie of putting this together.
