'Keep It Real' by Amy C

 

You know those moments when you find the perfect paper for the perfect photo? But want to keep it real?

Well that’s exactly what I was thinking with this layout! The photo was captured on one of my road trips with a great bunch of cool chicks this year.

The train line captured here is the famous Melbourne to Sydney line! 

To start this page, I first used a chunky ‘hog bristle’ brush. I roughly applied Black Heavy Gesso to the required areas, as pictured, then left to dry.

 

Next, using a stencil, I applied some of the Tangareen Dream Colour Paste. I chose this colour for two reasons. One was the memories of seeing the V-line trains as a child, which, at the time, was orange! The second reason, of course, is that it matches some tones from the photo.

After this dried, using a polka dot stencil, I applied some of the Steel Colour Paste randomly over the black areas – and then left this to dry.

 

To continue with the earthy tone theme, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to use the Apple of my eye and Sienna Colour Shimmer Cubes. I simply mixed each with water and splattered around the page.

 

To both complete the background and give it a bit of lift, I also wanted to splatter some white paint. Seeing that the ‘White Heavy Gesso’ can be quite thick, I used some of this, but thinned it down with water first. Simply, by using the likes of a stampers block, I mixed some water with Gesso and then splattered it around the page to my liking.

For the drying process, a craft heat gun can be used, or just leave it to dry.

Nearing the completion of my page, it was time to prepare my title. I thought that both the Tangareen Dream and Dusty Charcoal  Colour Embossing Powders would be ideal to use, to keep with the earthy tones.

After I stamped the chipboard onto the Versamark, I sprinkled the two powders over the title, then heat embossed it with a heat gun. I deliberately did not cover all of the title, as I wanted to leave some of it ‘raw’.

Lastly, I placed some embellishments over the textured background. I used a combination of twine, wire, cardboard and vine. I then mounted the photo on some cardboard and adhered it to the page. 

In this cluster, I used a Charms’ Creations Terrific Tab and some D-Lish Scraps goodies.

Overall, I really enjoyed creating this page and am happy with the result.

Dream Big by Danielle Vertigan

There is a lot of colour and a lot of shimmer coming you way.

I love getting to play with these products and

sharing my creations each month is an added bonus.

I work a lot on basic cardstock and I have to say I am

a huge fan of black!

The shimmer is divine when used against black cardstock

and is definitely something to try at home.

So here goes....

We are going to get stuck into a lot of goodies with this layout.

So to get started your going to need Black Cardstock, attached to a sheet of 12x12 chipboard.

You will need to select a stencil background.

I'm working with

Colour Paste Rose Petal, Singing the Blues and Just Blue

I started with Rose petal and ran it through the stencil in scattered areas as pictured

I then followed the same process using Just Blue and finally Singing the Blues.

I removed the stencil and set it aside to dry.

The marbled tone you get is really effective.

Its now time to hit the spritzer box with these gorgeous colours!

I'm again using Rose Petal, Singing the Blues and Just Blue

in Colour Shimmer Spray.

I turned my layout upside down to work on and spritzed each colour over the matching Paste section starting with Just Blue.

Next was Rose Petal.

I tilted the page to encourage a few small drips.

I finished with Singing the Blues and then set aside to dry.

How gorgeous is the Shimmer??

Next I selected my photo and decided on placement.

I often start without an actual photo in mind.

I'm a little dysfunctional that way.

Once this was decided I was left with a void to the right and instead of black space I decided to add the Script from my Stencil.

using Snow White  Colour Paste 

I haven't embossed for a while and this was the perfect addition to complete my page.



Using these sprigs I first ink them with a powder blue chalk ink and followed it with

Embossing Powder in Just Blue and Snow White

 Starting with Just Blue I sprinkled it over the wet ink using my Embossing tray.

I repeated the same ink process and then finished with Snow White embossing powder.

I used my sprigs to create these clusters.



Layered with a Doily and a few embellishments it came together beautifully.

I love the result and although the Script Stencilling is transparent up close its extremely effective when you look at the layout as a whole

I little White Gel pen adds some detail and its done.

Hi everybody

Today I am sharing a layout of my sister and I.

Firstly, I prepped my page with White Heavy Gesso. 

To create my background I started with  

Blush Colour Shimmer Cube.

Next was some Just Blue and Bling Colour Pastes through some stencils, 

making sure the Just Blue was dry before adding the Bling.

 Then it was on to adding my paper layers, 

embellishments and photo.

I finished with some splatters of water-activated 

Cobalt Colour Shimmer Dust.

Sienna 4 Ways with Selena Stevens

Today I am going to do an art journal page using my favourite colour at the moment, Sienna.  I challenged myself to only use this one colour plus black and white.

To begin, glue tissue paper to the art journal page using matte medium.  Ensure that there are no air bubbles but creases and texture are good to have.  Images of flowers were stamped repeatedly onto the art journal page with a permanent black ink.

I gathered all of the Sienna coloured products that I have.  This included Colour Shimmer Spray (Sienna), Colour Paste (Sienna) Colour Shimmer Cube (Sienna) and Colour Embossing Powder (Sienna).

Colour Shimmer Spray in Sienna was sprayed over the entire art journal page and was blended with White Heavy Gesso to create a light coloured background.

Stems were created with Colour Shimmer Spray (Sienna) by pooling the liquid at the base of the flower with an eye dropper then holding up the art journal for an organic shape to be created from the liquid moving.

Using a palette knife, Colour Paste (Sienna) was applied around the flower edges to create the petals.  Lines were also carved into the Colour Paste while it was still wet to create some more texture and interest.

The inside of the flower was painted with Black Heavy Gesso to create contrast in the flower.

Colour Shimmer Cube (Sienna) was painted over the Black Heavy Gesso once it dried.  The Colour Shimmer Cube really comes to life over black to show off its shimmery goodness.

Embossing ink was daubed in the middle of the flower which was then covered with Colour Embossing Powder (Sienna).  Once the excess was removed it was heated with a heat gun and activated.

Black Heavy Gesso and White Heavy Gesso so was used to create some details and definition in the flowers.

Using the Black and White Heavy Gesso, Colour Shimmer Cube and Colour Shimmer Spray colours were flicked across the art journal page landing on the background and the flowers.
