Bee Happy - You are the Sunshine of my Life by Charmane Koch

Hey guys! Today I thought I would share with you a layout that I created a while ago, but for some reason I hadn't shared yet!

I've used lots of goodies from the Bee The Sunshine range!

I started off by stamping directly onto the background paper - Find your Way stamp - to the top left of where I wanted my photo, and then to the bottom right of the photo.

I have then mixed together Sunshine Mica Powder with some Gel Medium to create a paste.

I have stencilled the Flower Garden Sunflower a few times along the right side of the layout, overlapping over parts of the stamp & stencilled Abstract Daisy along the left hand side of the paper.

I also stamped the Find your Way stamp a few times onto white tissue paper. I've then cut around the tissue paper and the using Gel Medium stuck down the stamped tissue paper into the desired position on the layout.

I love how you can see the stencilled flower through the stamped tissue paper, giving a nice layered effect.

To give my layout a bit of 3D effect I have used cardboard to life my photo & the word cut outs. Since this layout I have bought the fabulous Adhesive Foam strips which is perfect to do this as well.

Before I stuck my Word Cut out title I inked the edges of each piece.

This was quite a simple layout to put together, but I love how it has turned out.
The colours of this collection are perfect!

The stamps & stencils I've used:

The papers are all beautiful in this range - I used the Pretty Fields paper...

Thanks for popping by! Hope you get a chance to create and maybe give this layout a go?

Seriously Cute- Chrissi Mannix

Hi Lovelies So here it is, my first ever Design Team post for Colour Blast!! And let me tell you, it took a while for me to be happy with a project to share with you for my first ever project lol. I made, and started numerous projects before I was happy.

This project actually started off heading in a completely different direction, but I wasn't happy with how it was going, so instead of scrapping the whole thing, I decided to use the background piece I had made and just rip it up.

I started with what would have to be one of my favorite Colour Blast products- Colour Shimmer Dust. I wet my page a little first, then added small amounts of Duke Colour Shimmer Dust to my page. Then I added some water from a mister bottle to spread my colour around.  I love watching it react with the water.

I continued adding water and spreading the colour around. After blasting with my heat gun, I decided to add some more colour. I wanted to try adding some Colour Shimmer Dust to some Gel Medium. Due to the gel medium drying clear, I was hoping to get a vibrant colour. I hadn't done this technique before and was really curious to see the result. I will definitely be doing this again, especially on an art journal page.
I mixed some gel medium and some Peacock Colour Shimmer Dust together with a pallet knife, on a stamping block. Then using my palette knife, I spread the mixture through a stencil onto my background.

My favorite way to add splatters to my mixed media backgrounds is to use the Colour Blast Heavy Gesso. I find that they stay lovely and opaque and with a little bit of water, make awesome splatters. Be warned, this CAN be a messy technique, but always a staple of mine to use. I have mixed a bit of White Heavy Gesso with a small amount of water onto an acrylic block, and have used a paint brush to throw some splats at my backround.

Once I let all this dry, I wasn't really  happy with it as a whole, but I did like the parts where I had stenciled my Colour Shimmer dust mixture. So I decided to do something I don't think I have ever done, I decided to use a part of my background as a photo mat onto a whole new piece of plain card stock.

This is where the layout takes a rather dramatic turn, but ends up being something I'm very happy with. Now I'm a very big mixed media scrapper. I'm messy, and like things bright and chaotic. I found that adding this piece to a fresh piece of white cardstock made this project seem a lot cleaner and neater (not something I'm use to lol) But I do like how its something different to my usual style of layout, with still my pops of mixed media and colour.

I decided to off center the piece to the right of my layout, and while I was waiting for the gel medium mixture to dry, I added some cotton thread underneath my photo, which i backed with foam for dimension and added some acrylic chevrons as small embellishments.

As I was looking at my page, I felt like there was alot of white space left- I'm not usually one for white space lol. So on a whim, I had an idea. I decided to use my left over pieces from the original background to cut out some shapes. Being a photo of my son and I, I went with hearts. I hand drew hearts on the left over scraps, from when I cut down the piece to mat my photo and got some awesome mixed media heart shapes with different shades and textures. It was great to be able to use up the whole background, considering I wasn't happy with how it turned out originally. I cut these out and placed them around my layout. I added a few bits of bling here and there to make little clusters and then added my title using some word thickers I've had in my stash forever.
In the end, I love how this layout ended up. I sure hope you enjoyed my first ever post, and I cant wait to share more exciting things with you using the fabulous Colour Blast Products.

Moments that we share by Danielle Vertigan

Today I'm sharing one of the special moments that I'm
super lucky to have with my gorgeous little girl.
Being able to share a love of Calisthenics with her is amazing but taken it to the next level and
being a member of the same club with her, competing and really sharing everything the ups, the downs and the stage
is actually amazing.
We are each others biggest supporters and I'm super proud of her.

So lets get started.

I've got a great selections of products on this layout today.

Using White Cardstock I mounted it onto a 12x12 sheet of cardboard.
Then I layered a selection of 3 stamps.

I layered tissue paper over this with gel medium as my binding product.
Its important to keep the tissue creased and textured you don't want it smooth.

Once dry I used the Colour Shimmer Dust in Lollipop and applied it with two methods. First using the paint brush I mixed a little of the powder into water on my paint palette and applied this as a water colour direct to my page.
As it dries you can re-apply to intensify the colour.
I then sprinkled the powder directly to sections of my layout and spritzed the powder up close.

I have chosen 2 Stencils to work with.
I layered my first using the Snow White Colour Paste.
You will see in the pic below how its picked up the Colour Shimmer Dust as its dried.
I love the sneaky gold fleck that's appeared as its reacted directly with the water on the page.

Next I added my birds with the Steel Colour Paste.
Its definitely a new favourite.

Don't they look Great???
I haven't added any colour yet to the bottom section of my page.
So using the Colour Shimmer Spray in Rose Petal I spritzed the entire lower section of my layout where I have stamped and tissue papered. I also added another layer of colour  to the top section.
then set it aside to dry.
Next I positioned my photo's and embellished.

I didn't have a paper trimmer with my so I layered my photos directly onto my patterned cardstock and cut it using my scissors to create a photo matt.

This is a great shot to really see the colour picked up by the
Colour Paste.
You can also see how spraying the powder that has been directly applied to the cardstock spreads in a fine dust that sits clean on the page without bleeding.
A little water staining from the Spritz is also a really nice touch.
Some journaling has been added along with a freehand border using a black gel pen.

I'm loving the birds sweeping my page and the colour are so striking.

I'm so happy with the finished product and love that I can feature many images in my layout.

Thanks for taking my journey.
I hoped you enjoyed the process as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Frame within a Frame by Danielle Vertigan

I wanted to create a frame within a frame.
Something that could be displayed with a focus on the colour
and texture,
I liked the idea of keeping it unstructured and bringing the background
of my photo to the foreground.

The Heavy Gesso is exactly that!!!
Heavy and Thick!
Its coverage is amazing.
I adhered my chipboard frame to my cardstock and painted a
layer of gesso on using the paintbrush.

Once dried using Stazon I added a layer with the textured script stamp, keeping it to the frame and some random points around the edges.

Using a Gel Medium I applied it liberally to my frame as a glue.
This held my tissue paper to the layout.
Being sure to press it in firmly and encourage the wrinkles.

You can see how the tissue adds more texture.
I've also kept it central to the layout so my edges are clear.
Now comes the fun of adding colour with Colour Shimmer Dust.
I've chosen to work with
For this next step you will also need a Water Spray, Paint Brush and Spatula.

First using the water spray.
Liberally Spray your chosen start point.
You will want to see the water pool (the gel medium creates a seal)
Using the spatula sprinkle a small amount of powder onto the wet area.

I love how Lush changes colour.
I've pushed the colour in using a paint brush. This also helps spread the colour.

Continue to spray water allowing you to move the colour as you please by
tilting and tapping the page.

I continued this same technique around my frame blending the colours.
I sprinkle Sunflower into a few areas and spritzed with water to finish.

\

Now to get creative with Colour Paste.
From the pictures below you can see the colours added randomly and sparingly.
Its up to you how much you build them up.

Once all the colours are added and dried.
I rubbed the bling over the frame.
This was to help accentuate the frame so it Isn't lost in the  colour.

Using a black gel pen outline sections of the frame.
This will help add detail.
I also used it to frame my page.
A white gel pen was used to create a fine line around the photo edge.
The pics below will help you see more detail and colour.

The finished result is something I'm really happy with.

Thanks for stopping by......
Enjoy the sun and share a little summer flair
