Runner Up by Charmane Koch

Hi Everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you a layout I created using Pinks - in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month! I have used Colour Paste in Lipstick, Colour Artist Ink in Cranberry & Colour Embossing Powder Blush.

I decided to use a photo of my Harmony girl with her Runner Up Best & Fairest Trophy from last year for Netball {She received Best & Fairest THIS year, but I haven't printed the photo yet!}

Anyway, I firstly started with a piece of Thick White Cardstock that I have covered in Thick White Gesso using a palette knife. I let this dry naturally.

Before adding Colour Artist Ink to my page I have sprayed water, as I didn't want a really strong background colour. After adding a couple of drops of Ink, I have then sprayed more water and moved the page around to manoeuvre the colour around.

I used a heat gun to dry the Ink.

Next I have used a star stencil and positioned them to go from bottom left corner across to the top right corner of the page. I have used Colour Paste Lipstick and used a heat gun to dry.

I have put together other pink embellishments, positioned my photo and added my title and journalling.

My favourite bit though is added the Colour Embossing Powder Blush to the edge of my layout which I think really finishes it off.

I rubbed Clear Watermark ink pad around the edge of my page doing one corner at a time.

I have then sprinkled a generous amount of the Embossing Powder along the edge - making sure I have a pre-folded piece of paper underneath so that I can pour the excess back into the container...

Don't want to waste all that!!!

And how awesome does the Embossing look once heated? Love the texture on this!

 Here is the final layout:

Such a fun layout to create & as I said my fave is the Embossing edge! Will be definitely using this technique again!

Thanks for popping by & hope I've inspired you!

Dress Up by Charmane Koch

Hey guys! Happy Holidays! We've just started ours here in SA - and I'm guessing most of you are halfway through maybe?

Today I wanted to share another layout created using Colour Mica powders & stencil using gesso for the background, but this time adding stamped embossing & stencilled colour paste as well.

I used a mixture of Cool Mint & Polar Colour Mica Powder sprinkled onto the page that I have little sprayed with water. I have used a heat gun to dry it, and then added a couple of strips of ripped washi tape vertically over the top. I have used gesso to stencil the blossom mask. I waited for it to dry.

I decided to have a little bit of "experiment" with the Colour Embossing Powders and using Watermark Ink I have stamped two chipboard flourishes... but decided to use two colours to emboss at the same time. I sprinkled Envy & Deep Water randomly over the top of one chipboard...

and then I've rubbed the other chipboard over the top of the leftover embossing powder.

The excess I have kept aside for the stamping I have embossed directly onto the background cardstock.

After working out the positioning of my photo, I have stamped a script stamp & then stencilled a word stencil using Deep Water Colour Paste.

Using Versamark Watermark Ink I have stamped a flourish stamp and "Like A Boss" stamp. I have then sprinkled the excess Embossing powder and using a heat gun embossed.

I am loving the mix of textures - the shiny colour paste, the glossy embossing, the glittery Mica powder background... & as you can see I have also used leftover muslin that I coloured with Colour Artist Ink from the last page I created!

I hope you like the finished product!

Thanks for looking!

Clean & Simple Cards and GIVEAWAY with Kasia

Hello again lovelies.. I'm here today with a set of clean & simple cards created with the Colour Artist Inks, Colour Embossing Powder & Uniquely Creative dies.

I heard on the grape vine a little while ago that the lovely Mel Struths had a thing for lightbulbs so was super excited when I got to turn my little lightbulb doodles into dies for Uniquely Creative. I had a million Colour Blast projects in mind when creating these dies and couldn't wait for them to be made.

To celebrate the release of these dies, Uniquely Creative is giving away a set of the Lightbulb dies & the Scripty Sunshine die & a couple packs of Embellies too. For all the info how to enter read the info at the bottom of the email.

Now, lets get onto making some cards...

For the backgrounds I cut down some watercolour paper to 5" x 7" and taped them down to a hardwood board with low tack masking tape. I wet down the paper with a wide brush and then dropped in little amounts of the Colour Artist Inks with a round paintbrush.

I let each layer dry completely (you can speed up the process with a heat tool) and then wet down the surface again and dropped in more colour.

For the greens & blues I used a combination of the Citrus, Lime, Grass, Mermaid & Oasis Colour Artist Inks.

I did the same process here with three layers and while the last layer was still wet I sprinkled on some salt crystals and let them sit for a good few hours.. I wasn't patient enough to let them sit overnight, but if you are the effects would be a little more dramatic than on my background.

For the above card I used a combination of the Spice, Sunburnt, Cider, Barley, Slipper & Berry Colour Artist Inks.

I then die cut some lightbulbs, and sentiments from white cardstock and embossed them 3 times with the Bling & Stormy Weather Colour Embossing Powder, to get a lovely thick embossed effect. Don't forget to give your embossing powder a little shake before using it so that the embossing powder and sparkle mix well.

I then created three 4.25" x 5.5" card bases, cut down a piece of glitter cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and die cut my coloured backgrounds with a cross stitch rectangle die and stacked these on top of one another to create the background for my cards.

I then bundled up some silver and gold thread to layer under the sentiments and put together my cards.

I also added a sprinkling of rhinestones and pearls around the sentiments to add a bit more texture and ground the sentiment a little more.

This background was created in the same way but using the Spice, Cider & Citrus Colour Artist Inks.

To enter the giveaway all you need to do is

Always Remember Who You Are by Ree Peace

 Hi everyone!
I have a bit of a messy background for you all this time.
Starting with Kraft paper, I stamped up a treat with Stazon and this super cute stamp.

Next a few random placements of Fire Engine Colour Paste over parts of my stamping through a stencil.

Adding to the layers, I created lines with White Heavy Gesso using the edge of a store card.

Some splatters of two Colour Sprays, Love and Roadbase pulled the background together.

While the last of it was drying naturally I prepped and coated some hexagon chippy with
 Stormy Weather Colour Embossing Powder.

With some careful placement and some additions of washi tape, cotton and some letter stickers, my page came together beautifully!

I hope you have enjoyed this post, be sure to leave a comment or question and I will be checking to reply very soon!

Embossing Powder fun with Melinda Sweetman

Hey there Colour Blast fans, Melinda here with you today sharing something a little different to normal! Today I am going to share with you lots of different ways to use the ever so sparkly, beautiful Colour Embossing Powders available in the Colour Blast range!

There is also a process video that shows you how I created each of the different techniques which you can watch here or read on for close ups and details on each! Oh, there is also a little extra at the beginning of the video showing my little sample book with all the different colours and mediums that I currently have and this helps me to choose colours for projects!

So, onto the techniques!

First up, you will need the Colour Embossing Powders (obviously!!) which you can pick up here in the store, some embossing ink - there are lots available but I use Versamark and a Ranger ink in a dabber bottle. Oh, and a heat tool! I would also HIGHLY recommend a big dry brush to dedicate to "clean up" for use with embossing powders. You will find that you are left with (an oh, so sparkly) a very fine layer of sparkle from the embossing powders - it's like there is finely, finely blended up glitter in each little tub - and personally I've found the easiest way to clean up each surface and after each heat application (when embossing is COMPLETELY dry/cooled) on papers etc is with a brush ;)

Now, onto the FUN stuff!

First up I decided to use the gorgeous Tangereen Dream on some Dusty Attic chippy pieces :)

You can see that I have gessoed one piece and left the other raw.

You do get a different look if you gesso first so I wanted to make sure that you saw the difference!

After the gesso was dry (probably with a heat tool knowing me!!) I applied versamark ink by smooshing the chippy into the pad and then applied a layer of powder, shook the excess off and heat set. For both pieces of chippy I applied 2 coats. I did do the ink twice but if you are fast enough you can skip the ink for the 2nd coat and just dunk the piece straight back into the powder and heat set!

And the finished product

The next technique I did was using some wood veneer. I've done 2 different things with the pieces I chose.

I only wanted part of the frames embossed so I used some washi tape to tape off the bits I didn't want covered, then applied ink using my mini ink pad, some Rose Petal Colour Embossing Powder and then heat set.

And then for this word I wanted the whole thing done so I just inked up the veneer, applied the Leather Colour Embossing Powder and heat set. This piece actually has 2 coats as well :)

And the finished pieces

Next I pulled out a stamp and probably my most fave colour,  Bling. Oh, it's so pretty and sparkly! It's really hard to see in the photo's but honestly, if you need a gold sparkly embossing powder in your life THIS is the one to get ;) If you get the chance to watch the video as well I was mesmerised watching the powder set so I left that part in the video ;)

I inked the stamp up and stamped it straight onto some textured white cardstock. I will say here that IF you do use the textured side you will not get a perfect stamped image but I am totally ok with that and LOVE how this turned out!

I loved this so much that I decided to do it again but this time with a little twist! So I stamped and embossed the image on another corner of my cardstock and then pulled out my Deep Water Colour Shimmer Spray for a little water colouring fun!

Really simple technique! After the powder was set, dry and COOL I simply sprayed some of the shimmer spray onto a piece of packaging, took my big watercolour brush that was wet and applied a really quick, messy coat of colour. I dried that off with my heat tool and applied a second, darker coat - this time I just dunked the brush straight into the bottle. And then a blast with the heat tool and finally some splatters with a smaller brush. This is just BEAUTIFUL! I love it so much and even make a card with it!

And here is the card!

That little orange veneer frame received a quick couple of coats of the Tangereen Dream Colour Embossing Powder for a little extra pop of colour!

My next technique is using a stencil! I grabbed a small stencil (a recent fave!) from my stash and applied some ink using my ink dabber through the stencil. I removed the stencil (more carefully the second time!) and then applied my embossing powder. First time was Lovely Lilac and after I applied the powder I realised there was a fair bit of ink behind the stencil so I cleaned my stencil and tried again this time using the Steel Colour Embossing Powder.

The very imperfect Lovely Lilac

And in saying that I really like the messiness of this!! And the Steel is a little "cleaner" but again not perfect but so, so pretty!

And lastly, I tried something I had not done before and am super happy with how it looks! I have seen lots of other people do different colours on the same piece and wanted to give it a go myself so I grabbed my 2 faves - Bling (of course!) and Rose Petal and a couple of veneer pieces.

Using my dabber I randomly applied some ink. I then started with the Rose Petal and heat set that and then back in with the ink again and then applied the Bling Colour Embossing Powder. Love how these turned out and I think they will make it into our wedding album - our colours were pink, silver, black and white!

So, that's it for me and my Colour Embossing Powders today! I hope I have given you some fun ideas of how to use your own Colour Embossing Powders and we would love to see your creations over in the facebook group Colour Blast Creative Corner!

Otherwise, have a fun, messy, inky kinda day!
