 Hey Everyone! Hoping your Monday is off to an AWESOME start! I'm guessing some of you will be getting those kids back to school? We still have a week to go, but I LOVE it when my kids are home! No school lunches to worry about, no drop offs & pick ups... just WORK! Ha, ha!

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you my most recent layout loosely based on the April Sketch this month...

I loved all the layering and mix of stamping... so decided to create my background using lots of Bee Arty Stamps & Stencils.

Here is what my base looked like after stamping and stencilling...

I have then added more colour to the page, using similar colours to the Fearless, Brave and Free Confidence paper that I used, Slipper & Oasis in the Artist Inks {with water} and also Polar Mica Powder...

Can you believe I managed to use all of these Stencils and Stamps!

I finished off the page with doodling around the stencilled images & a bit of machine sewing around the edge of the layout & partially around the photos that I matted using Fearless Brave & Free Strength paper

It was so therapeutic creating the background loosely stamping & stencilling! How much fun it is to play with the fabulous Bee Arty Goodies!

"Heartfelt" by Anita Enright

 Hi Everyone

Wow!! I can't believe it is nearly December. 2020 has been such a weird year and challenging year for all of us in one way or another, some of us more than others.

A large part of my immediate family were in Melbourne's lockdown and where their new normal is coming in to affect I love seeing the experiences they are all having to bring some normality back to their family.

For today's share I chose to use some photos of my gorgeous nephew Thomas choosing some flowers for his Mumma.  The way he touched the petals in a couple of the photos and then choosing a bunch to give to his Daddy to pay for is just adorable.  I hope I have done them justice.

 This layout just brings a smile to my face 😄

To start my layout I work out approximately where i wanted to use the shimmer dust and then applied a layer of Heavy White Gesso to the white cardstock.  Once the gesso was drive I sprinkled a small amount of Duke Shimmer Dust to the cardstock and lightly sprayed with water.  

Remember to apply shimmer dust lightly.  It is easier to continue to add more than apply too much to start and then not be able to bring it back.

Next I stamped a heap of flowers using an archival black ink using the flowers from the Floral Delights Stamp Sets No. 1 and No. 2.  I used the Colour Blast water colours in Scarlet however you can colour them with whatever medium you have.  Artist Inks from Colour Blast work equally as well. Once you have coloured them the way you want (I left some just white) fussy cut them out.

 

 

Once the Shimmer Dust has dried and you have it to the shade you like, using the Meridian Stamp Set stamp some circles to the cardstock. I added some splatters of red using the Scarlet watercolour pan.

I then mounted my photos on some chipboard offcuts and attached them to my page.

Next, using the Honeycomb metal die and the Flowers metal die, cut out a couple of flowers and one of the honeycomb.  Cut the honeycomb in a couple of pieces.

 

 

Arrange the fussy cut flowers and die cut flowers and honeycomb on to the page, layering them under the photos, mounting some on foam tape/dots and layering over the edges of the photos.

Next I stamped one of the bees and dragonflies on to the page from the Make me Happy stamp set, and the small sentiment from set as well.

To finish I coloured a chipboard title with my shimmer cubes, glued it to the page and added a gorgeous red Charms Creations heart.

Don't Follow Trends Create Them Layout by Julie Schinkel

Hi everyone, I'm back sharing a layout that took a few different turns before it got to its final destination. I'm always trying to challenge myself and do something different, this was no exception. Nothing like what I had originally planned but hey, that's how creativity goes sometimes. Right?

Okay, onto my layout. I've created this layout using a selfie with the current challenge in mind. Don't ever be afraid to create projects using photos of yourself. Why not? It's fun and with all of the selfie apps and filters around these days, why not have a little fun?

This layout is certainly one is for the fussy cutters as there's a bit of stamping and fussy cutting involved. To start I've done my usual cardstock frame then added a piece of Dude 12x12 paper from the Trendsetter Collection by Michelle Grant. I've torn around the edges - roughly about 1/4 of an inch all around - then adhered that to the black cardstock frame to form the base.

Next I added some Colour Blast Shimmer Dust in Passion with some water onto some scrap plastic and applied it to the base layer. I wasn't fussed on the result so I added a scrap piece of Impress 12x12 paper over the top. I've cut out the "Don't Follow Trends Create Them" quote from the same paper and also the "Keep it Sassy" from the 12x12 word sheet. Ive matted both quotes and the photo with black cardstock.

Okay, on the fun part! If you have a stamp press tool of some kind, you'll need it for this as I've double stamped my images so they are crisp black. To get the best results I've used Versafine in Onyx Black. The stamp I have used are from Floral Delights 1 and Floral Delights 2 stamp sets. I've put next to each flower in yellow on the second image so you'll know how many of each to stamp.

I've just layered all the flowers on the layout as shown. You can use the same as I have or less if you like. It's just another way you can use your stamps as embellishments on a layout. I decided to add some of the Colour Blast Passion Shimmer Dust to the centre area of the flowers and leaves to break up the white. It also helps tie them together to the colours in the layout.

"Free Spirit" by Anita Enright

Hi Everyone, Anita here with you today.  

I love using bright happy summery colours and when seeing this photo of Sabine, needed to bring out the colour of the juice she was drinking.  I am using a wide array of products from differing collections on this layout.

After prepping my cardstock with some of the Heavy White Gesso I chose the 'Encircled' stencil from the Arty Farty collection and added stenciling over the page.

The below photo shows just how beautiful this stencil really is.

Next I took a paper doily and using my watercolour palette, coloured the doily in the "Sunshine" colour.

Using the "Amber" Shimmer Dust and a little water I coloured up a Charms Creations heart with a paintbrush.

Taking my dry coloured paper doily I sprinkled some of the same "Amber" Shimmer Dust over the doily and sprayed it with water.  Dry this off with a heat gun. 

So, I don't know about you but I love the Colour Artist Inks. For my layout I used "Cider" which I added first.  I lightly sprayed the stenciling with water and then added a few drops of the Artist Ink.  I lifted the page to move the ink around.  Dry off with your heat gun.

My next layer of Colour Artist Ink I added was "Citrus".  Dry between each layer and build up the colour with each layer you add by drying in between.

To add more texture to the background I have used the "Circulate" stencil from the Arty Farty collection and some of the gorgeous "Tangerine" Colour Paste.

 

I needed to add some black to the layout so incorporated some stamping on my background.  I love the "Floral Delights No. 2" Stamp Set.  There are two different stamp sets with flowers and are a great staple set to have in your collection. 

After stamping two different size flowers, I then coloured the centre with some of the "Sunshine" watercolours.

The part of prep was to colour my chosen title in black.  I did this again with my watercolour palette in "Soot". If you don't have any of the Colour Blast watercolours, you can get the same affect either using Embossing Powders, Shimmer Dust or Mica Powder. 

 As I now print my photos at home I tend to print them with borders so that I don't have to mat them on cardstock.  I added some 3D foam tape to the reverse of the photo before gluing to my page.

I added the heart and a couple of matching flowers from my stash to the bottom left of the photo, glued down the title (3D foam dots added to back) overlapping the photo a little and then finished by adding a little of the black hessian ribbon at the top and bottom.

Art Journal - Shadow Lady by Tracey Campbell

Hello, I am excited to be here today, sharing my first Art journal page. I have been part of the Bee Arty with Colour Blast Kit Creative Team for some time and am now happy to be sharing my inspiration here on the blog.

Today I have created Shadow Lady using a few different products which I will outline as I give you step by steps on how she took shape.

In my art journal I lightly traced the Face Side Profile 1 Stencil with a lead pencil.

Next I lightly filled in an outline for some flowing hair and a flower in the hair.

 Using the Fuchsia Inspired Collection Pan Watercolour Set  or some watered down Slipper Colour Artist Ink  paint in the hair, with varying degrees of hues. This is done by adding more water to the paint or ink to dilute the colour down.

Repeat the process with the Sea Foam Watercolour Pan Set or Mermaid Colour Artist Ink adding highlights to the hair.

Fill in the back ground, the feather and the flower with the Watercolour Pants or diluted Colour Artist Ink. Once dry lightly sprinkle Midnight Colour Shimmer Dust around the background of the Shadow Lady.

Using a spray bottle of water activate the Colour Shimmer Spray and let dry.

Place the Face Side Profile 1 Stencil over the traced profile and apply a layer of Dusty Charcoal

Colour Blast Colour Paste.

Let dry.

 

Using a waterproof ink and the Meridian and Live Your Art Stamp Sets ink the circle images around the profile. Let the ink dry.

 Using a pallet knife spread some Bling Colour Paste through the Dusk Stencil over the inked back ground.

Speed up the drying paste by using a heat gun, this will also make the Colour Paste bubble, which adds texture to the page.

For the finishing touches use a black marker to outline the Shadow Lady image, the feather, the flower and add waves of hair.

To add interest fill in some thicker lines of the hair and then use a white paint pen to add details of dots and lines.

Here is the final image, I hope I have inspired you to pull out your mixed media and get messy.
