"Heavensent" by Melissa Struhs

Hello again Colour Blast fans! This year I have been highly focused on creating an album of my son's first year, it has been a fabulous time to reflect on all of the gorgeous memories as he finished his final year at school. And this layout was one of countless pages that kept me inspired to create this year. We all know how Colour Blast products look amazing on black and for this classic photo printed in black and white I was looking to reimagine a night sky full of shimmery stars.

I began by layering my patterned papers and transparent negatives and enlarged photo onto a black charcoal background paper. The idea of using random mini stars clusters seemed very fitting for the title.

I used the Steel Colour Paste to stencil over the background, patterned paper, photo's and transparencies, making sure not to scrape the paste too much as I really love the height and texture it creates.

While the paste was still wet, the activated Steel shimmer cube was flicked and splashed in the vicinity of the stencilled stars (after I covered my photo's).

Lots of tiny splatters and

big blobs really add some varied dimension

and the pooling effect adds to the starry universe.

A super thick and glossy effect of Steel Colour Embossing Powder was added to the abstract chipboard stars and the title.

All of the vertical layers of patterned papers can be softened by the embellishments and the shimmery metallic look of the Steel products is really beautiful in contrast.

A quick close up of all of the elements together to finish up. For the last few months, I have had my work room completely pulled apart and by the time my next post is due, I will finally be all organised with a new place to create and with a specially designed Colour Blast fit out. I am super excited to show you all.
Happy Crafting,
Mel.
