Inks and An Angel with Selena Stevens

To continue on with this months Colour Blast MonthlyChallenge, today my art journal page will incorporate three colours and I have also used a feather stencil and a wing from a tag for my bird element.

Here is a link to the video.

So,lets begin…

I started by applying a thick layer of White Heavy Gesso through a feather stencil with a palette knife and left it to dry.

I then used Colour Artist Ink (Mermaid, Calypso & Cranberry).  I placed a small amount with a pipette onto the page, spread it around a little with a wet paint brush and using a straw I blew tendrils of ink across the page.  Once this was dry I repeated the process with the other colours.

Just be aware that where the Colour Artist Ink dries over the White Heavy Gesso it will become lighter in colour.

(Sorry for the blurry photo, I didn’t realise I had a film of something over my camera lens).

The next element I added was one of my three Selena Stevens Art tags, Evarista.

I cut around the wing and the girls head and glue it onto my page.

Following the outline of the tag, I continued my image onto the page.  I painted in the image of the angel and covering the tag to blend it in to the page with White Heavy Gesso.  Several layers were applied.

Small details were added in with a black and white pen.

That brings us to the end of this page.  A quick, fun and colourful page that meets the requirements of this months challenge.

I hope you enjoyed it.
Selena
