Because by Malinda Gardner

Hi, Malinda here.

I'm Wife to one, mum to three and a scrapbooker for about 10 years. I've been on many design teams and creative teams in Australia but being on Colour Blast Australia makes me very excited. Why? I love getting messy. I love paint and ink and sprays and texture and colour. My style is messy. I love mixed media and using whatever's in front of me on my table. I love bits and pieces and have a rather eclectic and random style to my pages. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

I look forward to sharing my work with you and inspiring you to use colour and texture in new and exciting ways.

So here's my 1st post at Colour Blast Australia...super excited to show you my page and all the Colour Blast stuff I've been using.

I love backgrounds. I don't use patterned paper really so I have to make my backgrounds full of patterns and colour.
So with this page I started with some heavy white gesso to prep my page and then to create my background I used a stencil and the Sunshine Colour Shimmer Spray. I love layers so after I dried it off I added another layer of the Colour Spray in Bubble Gum this time. The Sunshine and Bubble Gum look so good together. I love the Bubble Gum, not pink but not too red that it overpowers the Sunshine.

Next I swiped some of the Just Blue Colour Paste across my page just using a bit of cardboard, in random places where I thought it wouldn't be covered by my photo.
How cool is that shimmer and it's thick too so I got some texture and depth on my page. I love texture and I love adding depth to my page. Perfect.

I love paint and sprays and I also love embelishments. That's all I need to create a page.
So next I started adding bits and pieces to my page. I layered my photo with some tissue paper, added some embelishments which are all from D-lish Scraps and finally stuck it all done either with tape or my favourite staples.

I stamp on all my pages and can't stand it when my background sucks up the stamp or I can't stamp over it. I do it to add another layer and some more depth.
How good does the stamping look on that Just Blue Colour Shimmer Paste? I love how there are numerous layers and non of them disappear; they all hold their own and don't compete with the others.

Last but not least time for a title (I don't do big titles) and some small splatters or drops using Singin The Blues Colour Shimmer Spray. Simply shake the bottle well, unscrew the top and tap some drops onto your page. Make sure you cover your photo first.

So that's my first page with Colour Blast....what do you think?
I'm off to create...I need to get messy.

Have a great week,

xxx Mal
